I've had my 600's for two years and the last thing that I would expect to happen, is that the headband would fucking snap. This only happens with retards who buy the 600/650 and have no idea what they're doing.

I carefully stretched mine over a shit load of books (which is the wrong thing to do btw) and the headband didn't come close to snapping.

Why are people so insecure over the 600/650? are they all akg or beyer owners? It doesn't make any fucking sense.

It's decent, not godly. Got fulla2 and uber stack of schiit. HD598 sounds awesome on both, but HD600 suffers a little on fulla2 when compared to the stack.

The gain is also not sufficient, and the sound somehow falls apart past 9 o'clock or so.

HD 650 here, I did the same. It's worth it so they adjust perfectly to the shape of your head, including the earpads. And a good amount of clamp is preferable for me as long as it isn't too much. There was a bit too much pressure on my jaw back when I first got them that was bothering me a bit, but now they're comfy enough to the point that I can wear them for 6+ hours straight.
>>
>>59677986
We're all here for the audio, and the hd600's sound fucking amazing unless you need monster bass. Most people can't afford 600's so they get jealous.
>>
>>59678332
>thousands of dollars worth of measuring equipment to tune their EQ settings
EQ doesn't cost a thing and you don't need equipment to do it, just software.
>I'm asking what YOU can do, or the average headphone user here can do to fix their headphones with EQ
Install a parametric equalizer, understand how to operate it, play around with filters and test tones and then do whatever you want.
>And the answer is not a lot.
What makes you say that? The only issue I see is a lack of a clear reference point and this is where some skill in listening along with appropriate test tones come into play to aid you. Perhaps some help from measurements too just to give you some perspective but you'll have to be careful with those. You can't make a completely accurate EQ for your own ears on an industry leading measurement coupler either as your own HRTF differs from its. There's always room for manual adjustment.
>>
>>59677969
Jesus fucking christ ignore what everyone else has said.

Open the headphones to the maximum size. After that, stretch the metal band with moderate pressure, one side at a time.

That's it, do it bit by bit and you will feel the difference straight away.

>>
>>59678564
Your own price point comparison is a good example of a common sense not working. Price isn't related to headphone sound quality in any way even if it would be nice to think that more expensive equals better quality. Does your common sense also form strong opinions on concepts you don't understand or is that trait actually something else?
>>
>>59678655

>>
>>59678647
Sound quality-wise? Generally: less bass, more treble, less soundstage, and more grain in the higher frequency.
>>
>>59678584
Yeah, that's probably me. I got my actual fulla2 (before, I had the opportunity to test a loan).

This is playing some idol songs, think mastered -20dB average.

HD598 sound the same.

HD600, at low volume, sounds identical. This is up to 8-9 o'clock or so. After that, knob doesn't just increase the volume, but it also starts changing the sound, which is a bad sign. It does indeed sound subjectively worse than the magni2 does in that (effective) volume range.

Furthermore, and even at the max, the volume isn't that high either. For most music/games it is ok, but it tends to be too little gain for series and movies, and some games. This is also a problem with the magni2 at low gain, but that's what the gain switch is for. At high, the range is about perfect for the HD600.

Just keep in mind fulla2 dac line-out (the dac-only one, unaffected by volume) should suffice if all you need is the extra power.

The modi2 isn't going to sound any better. DACs aren't that hard to get right.

I got mine anyway because I find the spdif optical/coax of the uber version convenient vs messing with usb. Most motherboards have spdif outputs or at least headers in the board. Brackets are cheap on aliexpress. Also game consoles and other devices do optical out.

Complaining the 650s are expensive is a retarded thing to do though. I do believe them and the 600 should be priced identically though. However, I doubt most of the people shitting on them cannot afford them. Good beyers and AKGs are $200, as is the 6XX. They're all in the same general price range.

Really? I see people around here often asking for comparisons between them and cheaper headphones such as the Fidelio X2s and K7XX. Or about how they might need to spend more and buy something else along with it, since they might require an amp, which they don't know anything about or why they would ever need one. They seem to dread the thought of it. They're so reluctant, it's funny.

It can be as simple as someone justifying their purchase of a different brand. People are incredibly materialistic. We're always scheming against one another to derive gratification or satisfaction of our selfish individual desires. Most of the human race is still completely owned by that nonsense.

It has weaknesses but it's a solid all rounder and very neutral for a headphone.

Right now I'm in the mood for more treble so I'm using my DT880 more often these days despite it being less neutral. HD600 is still my favorite headphone.

To be fair I've ascended from FLAC's and have achieved the point of listening to shitty Youtbe rips because I'm that drunk.

Unless you're sober, in which case pick what you like, FLAC's are only necessary when you're stoned. If you're drunk listen to liquid diarrea and it'll sound good.

I don't see how it's serenity to be honest unless someone wants to challenge me. I'll be open and say I'm a pisshead and have been drunk 300+ times, where-as I've been stoned maybe 30 times if that.

Drunk, even the most inspiring music I've ever listened to just becomes background noise. Stoned, shit is fucking intense and I see geometric shapes and think autistic shit.

I'll answer this question by saying this.

Last time I listened to some music I liked I ran 2 miles home from being ripped off my tits on weed and loved the fuck out of the shit music I had the sense to play through my shit earbuds.

So /hpg/, I've got a pair of HD600s that I've had sitting on a shelf for a while because they just sound so dull out of my T520 and smartphone. What cheap dac&amp combo device would you recommend to get them producing an acceptable level of sound? Emphasis on cheap. Depends on which Audeze headphone you're after, and the condition (new/used). I've seen some great condition used LCD 2 for sale for $700-800, or around there.

Electrostats generally have a low end that is more lean than dynamic and orthodynamic/planar headphones. If you're looking for something that has a good amount of low end impact, I'd stay away from electrostats unless you would be considering something such as the SR-007 or the like (even then, I'd still recommend trying the headphone first, before you buy).

Is this the type of 1/8' cables I use for the Fulla 2's Variable Preamp Output? I'm trying to connect the Fulla 2 to my PC tower because the USB is messing up on Win7.
>>
>>59688884
>https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013DCKDFI/
Yes. Just standard 3.5" male-male jack-to-jack.

And you want that plugged from pc line-out to fulla2 line-in.

The "variable preamp output" is an output, meant for going to, say, amplified speakers, with fulla2 knob controlling the volume.

The other output, "dac output", is meant to go to another amp (like a magni2), is unaffected by volume, and always outputs from the amp (never from the line-in).
>>
>>59684920
DELETE THIS
>>
>>59688936
*and always outputs from the DAC (never from the line-in).

All connections are 3.5" jack or microusb except for the 1/4" headphone jack.

>>
>>59690003
Your shitposting crusade blinds you from everything else. Take a walk. Point was obviously to test whether it was driver imbalance or difference in hearing sensitivity in anon's ears.

>>59687567
Wear them reversed, test with different tones and with your eyes closed. Do you locate the sound consistently off center based on the orientation of the headphones or not? Whatever the case, you can fix it with EQ but you shouldn't tolerate audible levels of channel imbalance. In that case my advice is to send them back and ask for replacement. Doing QC for channel balance is fast and a very easy procedure at the factory. At this price point there is no excuse.

There's also a very slight chance of the output having channel imbalance. To test out for that, just plug them into your phone or something else or compare to other pair of headphones.

>>59689747
Amplifier/DAC checklist:
-Is it too quiet?
-Is the output impedance too high (fixable by equalization)?
-Is there noise/EMI or hiss to it?
-Does it sound distorted as you start to crank up the volume?
If the answer is no, don't get one.

>>59690037
Sidegrade, different sound signature. Basically AKG school vs Beyer school. Both headphones are at the same level pretty much as far as sound quality goes.
There is plenty of upgrades depending on how much do you want to spend on this hobby. For starters senn hd600/650. You can try AKG k7 series, however it's more of a sidegrade than upgrade too.
Easiest upgrade for k612 is getting good amp, if you don't have one start with this.

here's a TOTL audio-gd product measuring like shit, as expected.

people who know what they're talking about avoid their products like the plague. cavalli audio stuff is garbage too.

There you go, anon. Wasn't too hard, now, was it? Maybe you should give reasons before calling out shit, eh?

I have a friend who bought their flagship amp and he has to send it back twice to China because of channel imbalance. When we opened it up, it turned out that the JFETs in the left channel are improperly soldered so it wouldn't put through enough current to get it operational. The soldering work in this thing is pretty bad.

Still can't deny that it sounds nice when it finally works.

>>
>>59691613
As my LCD XC is sent away for repair for the SECOND time in one year i have really got to spend alot of time with these and they are very close to the audezes in soundquality.
There are iems and then there are good iems. Sucks that they are so fucking expensive!
>>
>>59691719
Why do companies that make planars seem to have so many problems? We laugh at Hifiman for their ChiFi crap but Audeze really has no excuse for the constant problems they have.
>>
>>59691798
Because they're harder to make than inferior dynamic drivers.
>>
>>59691842
But a lot of the time it isn't even the drivers that have problems, it's the rest of the headphone.
>>
>>59691842
>Because they're harder to make than inferior dynamic drivers.
How to tell somebody's been drinking the planar kool aid.

They're planar-DYNAMIC FFS.
>>
>>59691885
They're also heavier and larger.
>>59691959
>mad dynamicuck
Enjoy your point source of sound, faggot
>>
>>59691885
First time it was a faulty wire in the connection to the cable, this time around a dead driver.
>>
>>59691982
Heavier + Larger = hard to QC?
>>
>>59691842
No, they are really not.

>>59691798
Much more niche products, smaller industries. And planars are dynamic drivers. Operation principle is much similar.

What are the best headphones if I like lots of bass? Price range sub $500. I have an amp.
>>
>>59692163
DT770 Pro 80 ohm.
>>
>>59692147
Never does with audio equipment does it?
To me they are a on the go replacement for something like LCD-2, XC or HD800s. Similar sound to Audezes stuff as in warm and nice sounding.

I've heard $5 IEMs that sound on par with SE846.
>>
>>59692294
You should care about the rest equally, even if you prefer bassy sound. Simplifying the response to "bass mids and treble" often distracts from the idea that they are all relative.

Fidelio X2 would be pretty decent pick I guess.

>>59692316
Quite expensive for universal models indeed. I don't like them in either sound or fit but that's why I'm not the owner.

>>59692334
White filter is alright but the SE846 still lacks extension and still has too much midbass. The housing is really big, too.

This doesn't happen with shiit amps, as these are built in murika.

But that did happen with Schiit gear, some would be missing parts and drop digital input.
