You should look at the @include and @match
You can use regular expressions (regex) or just urls.
Expressions are for when you need more control.

The most basic, you can use wildcards.

Ok so in Australia all the freeview channels broadcast at like 480p garbage.

The HD channels are IIRC 1080i

My stupid question is: If they wanted to broadcast in 4k what is the hurdle?

Is the only reason they broadcast garbage on the non-hd channels because they don't want to upgrade the antennas? Or do they need more frequencies they don't have?

I get it all comes down to money but what would they need to do to broadcast in 4k?

Assuming you're on the same network, should be trivial to setup an ftp server. With MEGA you have to upload everything to the internet (Which he doesn't want to do, as his internet sucks. Remember, he wants to move steam games from one pc to another. You're suggesting uploading his steam library to MEGA, then download the files from MEGA. For steam games.)

FTP server is basically what he needs.

This is the SQT so I'm asking a stupid question, pls give me a stupid answer
>>
>>59633383

Broadcast bandwidth is a lot more limited than you would think, especially for signals that cover a wide area. I know that's definitely the reason satalite tv does mostly 1080i, and it's likely the reason behind limited terrestrial broadcasts. Plus most people won't notice or be able to utilize the difference, so it doesn't translate into additional advertising revenue, so why pay for better equipment/more spectrum. 4k is mostly pointless for tv/movies, especially in comparison to HDR content.

What does it indicate if I'm in the middle of a PvP match in an MMO and half my team doesn't load and the enemy team doesn't look at all, but when I unfocus the client to task manager, so I can still see 80% of the game behind it, suddenly everyone on my team and most of the enemy team loads when the game loses focus.

This is constantly replicatable. I don't get why it hangs or takes longer to load assets until the game loses focus.

Why does it do this? How can I solve it so that it just operates normally.

I'm having some isues remote connecting to a semi-headless htpc.

Basically remote connecting to the windows htpc with the tv on and using Kodi remotely works perfectly.

HOWEVER say I wanna connect to the HTPC with the TV OFF it will turn off hardware acceleration and Kodi wont run, and web stuff wont run, qand sometimes its just a black screen until i turn on the display.

If there something I'm missing?

you should be able to add a grub entry to your existing linux installation

or if using arch probably add it to your systemd-boot formerly gummiboot
>>
>>59634236
Thing is, /boot on my Arch is not a separate partition but within the root so I'm not sure how to work around that. Maybe throw both /boots together on another partition?
After creating a /boot in Gentoo's root the grub menu just had Gentoo option on it. I lack understanding of how boot loaders generally work so I'm kinda lost...
>>
>>59634359
you will have to figure out which is being called first by the BIOS then modify that boot loader to add the other operating system -- or change your boot order in BIOS back to your arch installation.

I think arch has os-prober which will do the adding of gentoo to your arch bootloader

I got a question.
I have a htpc and I wish to make it into a lan server that works for certain people within the network it is connected.
I don't want it to have access with the internet but only access with the router so others can locally connect to it, along with a mac filter if that is possible. So that only some devices can speak to it.

I regularly play games with my brother and our friends in lan parties at my basement, will it help in anyway?

>access with the router so others can locally connect to it, along with a mac filter if that is possible.

you already have everything you need. the router is a hardware firewall and NAT that will let local computers use the local network. you can build a MAC filter on your wifi network but if you wanted to filter specific traffic to your htpc you will need to use the htpc's firewall (iptables?)

Is a university degree necessary to start a decent career in IT?
I am from Germany and have two options right now: Go to university and study IT, or start a vocational training + work for a local company.
I've already spent a few years at university in a field that I don't want to work in and I'm pretty tired of studying and exams. I'd rather work a comfy 9-5 job and make some money, even if its not much at first.
The only reason why I am still undecided is that I fear that not getting a degree will limit my career options in the long run. While some people said that this is bullshit and all that matters is intelligence, skill and effort you put in, some others told me a degree is a must if I don't want to end as a codemonkeyslave.

The biggest use for home servers is as a media server, or as
a transcoding server, which can be accessed remotely. It
encode the video/audio streams into a different formats at a
smaller file size on the fly, sometimes requiring a pretty beefy
CPU. It does this to facilitate the Internet speeds of the server
and the remote device to ensure seamless playback.

In gaming terms you probably wouldn't need a dedicated server
for LAN, but this depends on the games play. Any game older
than CS Source would be better suited to just being hosted
on the same PC you're playing from, but something like Arma
which needs to make a lot of calculations would definitely need a
dedicated system. An 8320 would be fine for almost any game, but
make sure to check how much RAM you'd need, as it scaled with
the amount of players that are on the server.

I know XP will have compatibility problems with many modern games, but will it have any problems on modern hardware (kaby lake, ddr4, etc)?

I've gotten it into my head to build a "09 from 17" comp as a daily driver since my most played games are either from that time or even earlier, and even then more than a few modern games sort of come from 360/ps3 era engines in some form or fashion (I know Skyrim is actually XP compatible).

data Tree a = Leaf a | Tree a :&: Tree a

Apparently this is supposed to be a tree with a label in Haskell.

I don't quite understand what's going on there. Where's the label part? I suppose the part on the right of | is the constructor of a node with two child trees. But there's no label anywhere.

I'm not a haskeller, but apparently each node of a tree is one of those:
-a leaf
-a (sub)tree

The label is also not important, I guess the variable names are overshadowing each other (the left "Tree a " and the right "Tree a" are different trees).

I'm learning Python in HS, on a Macbook. I have Python 3.5.1 and 2.7 installed, and am trying out TKInter. I write my code in 3.5.1 and it runs fine in IDLE, but if I try to do anything in Terminal (like, converting to an app) it thinks I only have 2.7 installed, and so doesn't detect tkinter properly (and I assume the rest of my program will throw errors, but it never gets that far). How can I make Terminal recognise 3.5.1? Do I uninstall 2.7? Cheers.

Anyone have a recommendation for a live voice changer that works without making your voice sound incredibly digitalized? grep is a tool for searching through text files. a shell is a tool that helps you interface with your OS. you typically call grep from a terminal emulator which is a front-end for interacting with the shell

the popular shells are bash zsh and fish. bash is the default one on most distributions but it's shit, zsh is good, and fish is hipster

there's no direct relationship between shells and grep

Yeah probably. The stock amount of fans that the case comes with is probably enough to cool it adequately. Adding more than 2/3 doesn't improve cooling significantly. You should also have slightly more intake than outtake fans, because then you can control where the air comes in from (through dust filters). Besides, adding fans later is generally easy as piss.

Which open-source one would you recommend? Like I said, Im green and dont really want to download something crappy by just following links in duckduckgo after typing "free vpn client".
>>
>>59639473

OpenVPN is open-source and available for Winfags.

The issue is that most .ovpn files (the files you need to set up a connection) are not free; you usually have to pay a VPN company to let you download them.

If you really don't want to spend much time configuring shit, go for HideMyAss (paid) or maybe Cyberghost (free, but makes you wait before connecting).

Bridge mode crashes wireless network.
Just until yesterday I used the same two routers the same settings on the same distance.
For some reason when I create bridge now there is no wifi on both routers.
Ive tested with 4 devices.
Sometimes while this is happening there comes small windows of wifi connection like a minute or so and then again there is no internet while maintaining connection to the routers.
I turned off the second router and there is internet now on the first one.

What can be causing this?

I undervolted my cpu down .170, are there other simple tricks to get more out of a laptop?

Is there a better energy managment program than the defualt windows one? It bothers me more than it should it only displays 2 of 3 options unless you go to advanced settings. Why, i could understand if there was a handful but throwing the only other option in there isnt going to ruin the ui

User data on windows is usually stored either on
\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data
or
\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
depending on what brand of botnet you're using

Always install Windows first. It writes over grub or the boot flags or something

Hello, /g/.

Poorfag here, I'm planning to upgrade my computer once Ryzen 5 comes out.

Planning to recycle most of my old stuff and just buy the CPU, MOBO and RAM.

I wanted to ask if this idea is okay and if I can recycle my old PSU which is a https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

I have a preinstalled Windows 10 machine. I've set aside partition space for Ubuntu, which is fully installed.

Hey /g/, which kind of cables connect my laptop's wifi card to its receiver/antenna/whatever? They broke and I'd like to replace or fix them. If they're just copper cables it wouldnt be an issue
>>
>>59640376
Oh. Well it still sounds like a boot flag problem. Have you tried tinkering with gparted in the live environment?

Briefly, but I was told that fucking with gparted can be dangerous. I don't want to damage my Windows partition. What exactly would I need to do in gparted specifically to enable Ubuntu to boot?
>>
>>59640417
Alright. I'm glad they haven't change most of the connectors for the motherboards.
>>
>>59640406
literally enter "laptop wifi cable" in eBay and find one looking good. You can go further and specify your laptop model to get an exact replacement.
>>
>>59640451
I'm not entirely sure to be honest. The last time my grub was fucked up I switched some boot flags from one partition to the other and it worked. If you have important data on the pc it's not worth it but I've formatted my computer so much that everything is double backed up to other places and I don't care about fucking up

>wifi card to its receiver/antenna/whatever
as far as I know theres nothing else, just wires
those wires go around the body of the notebook through hinges in to lid and along the display to up-most level

thats antena and thats all

I would buy new ones but they're soldered to the antenna. I'd rather not replace that

then buy one which is for your laptop model and has a new antenna so you can safely replace that too.

This question pertains to Vegas pro 13

im recording everything lossless...

if i have 30s of some stupid footage from a game that i want to save for a montage later.. how do i just take that and save just that section WITHOUT rendering it?

i dont want 40-50gb files sitting on my computer so i can pull a 30s clip out of it..

i've just being rendering the parts i want but that will leave me with videos that will have been rendered twice by the time i compile all the rendered clips, then render the entire movie...

there has to be a way to just cut or clip a section, save that section AS IS, so i can delete the remaining excess file
>>
>>59640670
