Bet it wouldn't be the first one we'd have had.

>>59531075
That would complicate the EQ process a lot. Don't move while you listen? No use in fixing the bass but you can try to tame the treble peaks. Normally I'd recommend a parametric equalizer but since you will be subtracting and have a decent amount of bands to use, it might do some good to go with what you have there. The plot you are looking at is useless. Listen through some sine sweeps and equalize the peaks away. Audiocheck.net has some sine tones available.

No fucking idea. They fail to provide relevant specs, such as output impedance & max output with 300ohm impedance load.

You can't go wrong with the fulla2 in any event, as it's small, cheap, versatile and usb powered.

The 600 is the best headphone I've ever tried, slightly bass shy but an eq tweak fixes that. The 650 is a slightly worse version of the 600, though it's the second best headphone headphone I've ever tried.

600 is the end game. Period.

The HD 600 is just a more neutral version of HD 650s, which can be OK, for some, and not as much for others.

Bass roll off won't go really good with some bassy electronic music is you really want dat bass but they are to damn consistent and god with their mid range and vocals that even electronic music feels nice. Get HD600 and bumb bass, they respond really good to EQ, HD650 respond slightly worse.
>>
>>59532049
They sound very close, but the 650 isn't some 'bassy version' of the 600's like some claim. It doesn't sound bassy at all in comparison, it just doesn't sound as clean, or nice.

My Fulla 2 arrived today, got it because my on board would crackle.

Even with my meme headphones (Takstar 2050 and SHP 9500), the sound is noticeably better.
The SHP's are more affected by the Fulla 2, way more responsive to eq now. Makes the 2050's sound pretty muddy and unclear in comparison.

Gonna send the Takstar's back and save up for hd600's or 880's.

>>
>>59531222
>marantz pm5005 work well
They don't say anything about the headphone output. It's an unknown.
Knowing how most receivers are designed, output impedance is probably somewhat high.

>>59531382
A parametric EQ has three settings: magnitude, center frequency, and spread. The spread of the filter can be expressed either by the Q factor or the octave width.

The goal is to use your parametric EQ to effectively sculpt the response to your liking. If you become skillful with using a parametric, you can craft whatever response you like. Coloration, detail, soundstage, channel matching, and more are all yours to manipulate.
The use of log sine sweeps, also called chirps, will prove helpful in targeting irksome frequency ranges.

>>59532150
>>59532500
>more responsive to eq
>they respond really good to EQ
That's not how that works. You define a target response, and use filters to approximate an inverse function to achieve that response.
The first concern is whether the response is reproducible. If the transfer function is not well reproducible, the observed variation when it is used interferes with the intended correction.
The next concerns are digital level and nonlinear properties of the driver. Playback level will be on the electronics, whether they generate enough voltage at the driver. Nonlinearity is not always a serious concern, but these issues emerge with increased output level.

DT770. Lots of sub-bass and top end treble makes for a unique experience compared to what you've got.

They're supposed to tell you the sensitivity. If you put in a voltage at some frequency, you get so and so sound pressure out of it. Unfortunately people tend to take away the voltage reference point, so you have to figure that out from the spec.

I'm trying my hardest to not buy the THX00 since I want to be financially responsible and stuff. It's perfect for the sound signature I'm looking for.

You can also look into the audioquest nighthawk. They have a dark sound, and I've seen them go new for as low as around $300 (essentially a mid-point in price between the X2 and the TH-X00), and you can probably find them used for a tad less.

Does anyone know about the Hifiman HE350?
I found an offer for 115$ including shipping rather than 300 and I am in need of new headphones.
Used the DT990 so far and liked them but mine have run their course, having been repaired several times and being past their warranty, I'm kinda bummed out having to spend +70€ every time so I'm on the lookout for bargains.
I do my fair share of voice recording and editing so most of my need is in the area of human voice, but music and gaming are also areas where it would be used. I always preferred a good "valley curve" in my equalizers, putting a strong emphasis on low and high frequencies and lowering the midles.
I'm currently using AKG K518 DJ, my mobile phones, for my computer needs and use a Samson MeteorMic as an Amp, and since this is supposed to be budget, I cannot afford to get a "proper" Amp
I live in Germany btw.
>>
>>59539152
I do, and it's not working with my fulla 2. That aside, I've only tested a few songs and I'm not using an eq right now obviously, but I think the fulla 2 is actually better sounding than the e10k. I didn't buy it for that reason, I bought it for the extra features and build quality etc etc. I always hear people say that the e10k sounds grainy or harsh and I always thought it was some audiophile bullshit, because I used to own an o2 and that sounded exactly the same as my e10k. It turns out that some amps do actually sound different, or maybe it's the dac? No idea.
>>
>>59539432
Or maybe it's the most likely case: confirmation bias. You and nobody else can get rid of that in any sort of sighted listening. It's very easy to think(subconsciously, the sensation is very real) that you're hearing something while listening even if it isn't really there. Everything but the sound alters how we perceive the sound as well.

Disable enhancements, allow other applications to take control of the Fulla 2 and run the EQ APO configurator again, reboot while keeping it turned on and in the same USB port.
>>
>>59539492
I've got the eq working now. I agree with you, but it does seem like this fulla 2 sounds a little different from the e10k and o2. Maybe it's placebo, god knows.
>>
>>59539325
>Does anyone know about the Hifiman HE350?
Total garbage. Stay as far away as possible.
>>
>>59539551
Well this is interesting, I tested the fulla 2 with bloodborne title music on my ps4. It has a weird subtle wave/pulsing effect for some reason. I listened to my flac version of the song on my computer with the same set up and it's fine. Anyone know why that would happen?
>>
>>59539325
They are sold for $99 + shipping on massdrop once in a while. They're quite similar to 598's but with worse quality control and comfort. Highs are grainier, though dont dip quite as much in some areas. Pretty shitty value. They're a common platform for mods though.

Also how the fuck do you need to repair Beyers that often? I've had my 770's for over a decade, and COP's since release. Nothing other than the plastic yolk clamp bits cracking on the 770's have broken. If its the wire, just do a removable cable mod.
>>
>>59539706
I dont think it's the wire. The highs are still coming through, but the basses are gone. I suspect something inside needs soldering.
I think i got a defective pair. I dropped them once (chest height) and one side was broken afterwards. Sent them in within warranty and ever since they broke every year, always seems to have been inner soldering stuff.
I was considering asking some of my friends if they can solder it back together, I know a few Musicians.
>>
>>59539698
Maybe the ps4 version is different than the flac.

Maybe the ps4 is bad at powering the fulla2. (That's easy to check, by powering it with the separate power-only usb header)
>>
>>59539913
That sounds like a grounding problem. If the highs sound all distorted then that should be it.

Likely you got a defective pair. Open them up and resolder all the wiring. You can buy a couple meters of wire online for real cheap.
>>
>>59539922
>That's easy to check, by powering it with the separate power-only usb header

Yeah, I tried both so maybe it's the song version

I have used my siberia v2 now for over 3 years and I am very satisfied for the sound and durability they have given me for the price.
Now the mic is broken and need new ones.

I know you hate """gaming""" headset but the HyperX cloud 2 is on a good sale now.
A while ago i bought the AKG K550 and honestly hated the sound. Thought i would get used to the sound but that wasn't the case.
The sound was so hollow "uncomfortable" compared to the siberia v2 and my ears started to hurt after only a couple of minutes of listening, which i think was listening fatigue.

So does the Cloud 2 have similar confy sound of siberia v2 and not hollow like other headphones?
Im afraid i wont like how they sound like I did with the K550.

Are they still high tier brand? I know they got a lot of old technology that was top of the line and really sleek looking back in the 80s/90s. Used to make a lot of tech that still hold up aesthetically.
>>
>>59541741
So you can read the URL enough to see the words "gaming headset", but not enough to see the word "talk" and guess it might be a post talking about things, such as "And before anyone asks about the HD6XX, we are still working on it with Sennheiser."
>>
So I thought I'd try out a couple of the budget headphones, the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x and the Superlux HD668B.

I'm not sure why the ATH-M20x is so highly rated, the HD668B blows it out of the fucking water for ten dollars less.

>>
>>59542850
669s look like 668s but closed, might be worth a shot, price is good for a poorfag like me

660s look most interesting to me except that 150 ohm impedance concerns me, do i need a amp with that?
>>
>>59543149
669's are closed 668B's. I have the Samson rebrand of them, SR950. I'm not familiar with the 660 though assuming the highish impedence, they probably do though won't need too much more power than onboard.
>>
>>59543047
V-Shaped E10 for $42 or you can get a bit closer to neutral/slightly V-Shaped with E30's for $5 cheaper
>>
Alright, I'm considering very, very heavily getting ATH MSR7s, and I'm not sure I want the V-signature. My alternative right now are DT770s, but they're two completely different prince ranges.

How do MSR7s feel, compared to, say, M50s? Or just a regular old V-shaped signature? I like a neutral sound but don't want to give up the "Punch" of a bass heavy signature.
>>
>>59543585
Would you recommend the 669s for someone who is happy with the 668B's then, but is looking for closed headphones?
>>
>>59543855
Absolutely although I would EQ the bass as the that big midbass hump carries over and just gets muddy and bloated.

I just got a pair of Sennhieser Momentum 2.0 (wired, over ear) in the mail today. The first 2 hours of listening to them, so far so good.

Very comfortable and sound great considering they are $220 and can be plugged straight into a phone.
>>
I've just ordered a BoomPro, and while searching around for some other stuff recently, I saw some people having issues with some hissing/whine when splitting off the cable, with the microphone one going to the motherboard and the other to an amp, due to grounding issues that happen when splitting it. So, how can I fix that? Can a cheap USB sound card just for the mic work, or do I need a ground loop isolator?
>>
>>59545501
Either solution works. If you want to keep the mic and cable in one like the BoomPro, you'll need the isolator. If you dont mind keeping them seperate, the USB card works.
>>
>>59545670
Splitting the cable in two, with the audio out going to an USB amp and the mic in to the USB card seems easier and cheaper, so I'll probably go for that.
Thanks anon.

>How do I make my Momentum M2 AEBT not lag and stutter when connected to my Linux laptop over bluetooth?

Tell us a bit more, is this a general issue with your Momentum M2 AEBT or is it just that Linux laptop?

Does it work fine with your phone/any phone?

Does it work fine with other laptops?

What bluetooth version does the M2 AEBT's support, and what version does the laptop support?

Is the wifi reception on the laptop good or bad?

Things that cause this:
Older wifi/bluetooth card combination which handles using both at the same time badly
Using bluetooth v2 not v4
bad/no antenna for bluetooth

I have two laptops and my bt 4 bluedio's work just fine with both, also works fine with the cheap-o CSR adapter for my desktop and my phones - as long as I'm in the same room. If I leave *any* of those in the living-room and walk out in the hall then I get stuttering after just a few meters.

I know a lot of bluetooth things claim a 10m or even 30m distance but my experience is that absolutely no sender / receiver combination works unless they are in the same room.

SHP 9500's were my first not complete shit headphones, and I like them well enough, but I'm looking to expand my horizons.
Tried out the Takstar 2050's, which were very comfy, but the mids were too recessed for my taste.

I actually agree that owning multiple pairs of similar headphones is silly.

Personally though I like having an open set of headphones for quiet home use, a closed set of headphones for noisy use, and a small set of headphones for travel and exercise.

>>59549885
They tend to be pretty dumb which makes them much more vulnerable to marketing and buying inferior products for more money.

How deep are IEM tips supposed to go in the ear canal? I have tiny ear canals and even extra small size Spinfits go in like 2 mm deep. While they don't fall out easily, it's not exactly a snug fit.

I've ordered a mixed size set of Comply comfort tips to see how foams fare for me but given the stories I've heard about their durability it seems like an expensive solution.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Kind of a newfag to headphones, so feel free to ignore me. I just got a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 (wired, over ear), and I've listened to them about 5 hours today, I really like them. I have nothing to really compare them with though, my only other not shit peripherals are my Sennheiser IE80 earbuds.

My only slight complaint is that after about 3 1/2 hours of wearing them, the back of my ears were a little sore, I have big ears, and they are not the largest headphones. So if you have bigger ears, that's worth considering.

That's what you get for getting on-ear headphones. Stick to over-ear. The Momentum does come in over-ear variety.

That bulk buy website has their own variant of the HD650 which is awesome, I'd get it.

I'm currently using the HD800S. Great upgrade from the HD700. Loving every second of them.

Holy fuck that's loud. This thing could basically turn my headphones into speakers. But having the headphones blasting at max all the time would degrade the quality of mess up the headphones, right?

If it is loud enough absolutely. Don't leave them on running at max.

Guys, I've been pouring over the wiki for the past two days trying to figure this stuff out, but holy shit am I stupid. Does it get any easier with time?

If anyone's got a pair of closed headphones for about 100-150$ they'd suggest, that'd be splendid. A mic is a bonus, but not necessary. I've been looking at the HDH50 and the DT 770.

I'm in the US. My previous headset was a Hyper X Cloud 2. My source is a Fiio X1, Ps4, and my computer. Comfort is eh. I'll probably wear them 3-10 hours a day depending on the day. I'm not 100% on my sound signature, but I'm feeling Warm or Mid-Centric. Thanks.
>>
>>59553116
If you can save up some more money your options open up considerably. You could potentially buy your end game outright in the fostex th-x00 if you can save $400 for new ones or around $300 for used ones.

The DT770 Pro 80 Ohms is what you should get for gaymen if you also need them on the go (you need them to be closed). They are insanely comfy. I have a pair (Pic related). The HDH50 have a tiny earcup and aren't nearly as great for closed. For reference NwAvGuy (the ODAC/O2 creator) had an extreme preference for the DT770 Pro. He loved them: http://nwavguy.blogspot.com/2011/04/beyerdynamic-dt-770-pro-80-review.html

From left to right in the picture:

Sennheiser HD800S, Fostex TH-X00, Sennheiser HD700, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm, Sennheiser HD598.

The IEMs on the keyboard are Sennheiser IE80

Also for a mic, there are lots of choices. Sony has a lot of great cheap lavaliere mics for 20 bucks (as long as you have a noise gate they are perfect for PC, you can clip them on the end of your headphone cable like pic related).

Modmic frequently goes on sale for 35 bucks. Worth it for the unidirectional if you are going to use it on console or something. It does some decent native canceling. Plus they look nice installed.

I use the ATH-2020 Carotid mic (USB) personally.

If you want pleasure, get a dildo.

Headphones are for reproducing sound. Only neutral headphones are even trying to do that properly, preserving sound the way the people in the recording studio and mastering worked so hard to.
>>
>>59553250
Some anon earlier in the thread says it sounds better than e10k (he has both).

I only have the fulla2, but I'd suggest it over the e10k because:
* Made in the US, not china.
* Line-in (can be used as an amp, without the DAC)
* Volume knob is nice
* Size/shape is more convenient
* Separate dedicated USB power allows to use the DAC with weak devices.
* Way more power than the e10k. Means it works well with a wider range of headphones.

So it's a much more convenient device overall, and doesn't cost that much more.
>>
>>59553503
I think I'll just have to get it. It's $199AUD and the fiio E10k is $99AUD.
And I will have to get the Fulla 2 shipped to New Zealand from Australia.

It's better to buy the better one than feel like I'm missing out and end up buying it anyway I guess.

Also how much will I be missing out if I'm listening to Spotify(Premium).
I like the wide range.
>>
Anyone using Shure SE425 CL? How is it?
Thanks in advance.
>>
>>59553574
k, that sucks but I guess that's how it is where you are.

e10k will be alright, sound-wise; difference is going to be minimal if there's any as some anon here claimed.
>>
>>59553503
>>59553946
I didn't realise Schitt sold internationally from their site.
Cost less than 30% more than I can buy the FiiO here.
The fulla 2 feels like the more satisfactory option.
Brought it by the way thanks for the tips, convinced me.
>>
>>59554125
(I'm the same person)
Speak about fulla2, I just received mine. I'm finally listening to music properly @ work, on my HD380 Pro.

I had tested a loaned fulla2 before, which led to the schiit stack I have at home.

Now I finally have the fulla2. Gone full circle.
