Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

>To activate the Description, select build from sidebar then click on the title over the parts list
>Description contains notes, other options, and build skeleton for easy customization / cost savings
>Note: Win7 and 8.1 cannot be installed on a 200 series chipset

Have a budget, but don't know where to start? This will recommend you a parts list based on price.

>Subsitute a G4560 with 2400MHz RAM for any Pentium or i3; similar performance, up to 50% cost reduction.
>Consider using an i5 7500 in any RX470/480 or GTX 1060 tier build
>Consider stock fan+heatsink for any i3 or locked i5 build without a Z mobo
>Consider a B250 or mobo for any Pentium or i3 build
>Add a 240GB SSD to the "Very Good" tier build
>The only worthwhile gfx cards are the GTX1050, RX470, RX480, GTX1060 6GB for 1080p

people always spend more of PSUs then they need and new GPUs are more power efficient. corsair is a cheap brand.

1 TB hard drive is not enough. but you can get another later.

since you clearly have the money I would invest in an SSD to put your OS on. samsung works

if you plan on overclocking the cpu get a motherboard with a Z170 chipset.

Looking at the high fps 1080p 144hz build I cant help but feel like gtx 1070 is overkill?

IS this build assuming we are trying to get max fps with max settings in games?

What would be a better alternative gpu in that kit for max fps while not caring about max settings?
>>
>>59344167
apparrently the ryzen is future proof even though it under performs compares to the i7.

You'll never notice the difference in performance, but you are buying an inferior product.

Thing is Ryzen will hold steady at that performance for years to come cuz multipel cores.
I7 is gonna fall off hard in a bit

What titles are you looking to get 144hz in? Maybe older games will be able to with max settings, but I haven't seen many benchmarks that show it getting very high with newer titles.

you're buying an inferior product if you only use it for video games yeah
>>
>>59344632
No no i mean assuming I don't give a shit about max settings then the 1070 is overkill right?
I mainly want 144hz for competitive fps like cs go overwatch etc where im gonna min all the settings regardless. I dont need a 1070 to average above 144fps in that scenario right?
>>
>>59344697
Oh yeah, 1070 would be huge overkill. iirc you can get huge frame improvements just by turning overwatch down to low even with a 1060

As I understand it, there are three crucial specs:

1. memory capacity (GB)

Really? So people buying 1070 or 1080 now waste money?

Also - why Sapphire RX480 Nitro+ OC gets so hot so fast and how to deal with that? 50C on idle, 75C during load and sometimes reach 82C.

fan curve is the curve in which the GPU Fans respond to the temperature, as in if its 30celsius they spin at 0% and if its 80celsius they spin at 100% while throttling.
I suggest installing MSI Afterburner or some other GPU tweaking program and find a working fan curve for you GPU.
>>
>>59348658

Well, its idel temperature is 50C, but I noticed that it try to keep around 72-75C and only adjust fan speed when loaded.

But according to GPU-Z, in heaviest load yet it didnt go over 60% fan speed yet, but could that be that GPU-Z have wrong data? I mean, that 60% is 2200 rpm.

Would a single fan at the bottom be enough to improve airflow for the GPU so it wont pump hot air at chip?
>>
>>59347806
It depends on the motherboard *and* the memory you use.

Good motherboards have "Qualified Vendor Lists" (QVL) where you will see memory made by several companies tested. Notice how some brands don't work in all slots. You should always stick to QVL memory, otherwise you might have some nasty surprises.

My old Sabertooth 990FX R1 couldn't get all its slots filled with 4x4GB Kingston ValueRAM. HyperX solved the problem, it was rated for 1600MHz, and it worked flawlessly at 1333 with a 1100T. Now that computer is at my brother's home.

>>
>>59349539
Thanks! Didn't know such thing as QVL exists.
Perhaps I'd be taking that in consideration if building something new, nice and shiny.

Yet probably I can't care less about about it when dealing with an ancient mobo on near-zero budget. In this case,
> http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-EP35-DS3-rev-21#support-dl
in the list there are only two 2GB things mentioned, of which one is not to be found anywhere and the other has a price per piece such what a pair of cheapest available 4 GB modules cost.

So yeah, nasty surprises don't matter to me, but is there some general rule of how and whether the maximum RAM capacity per slot correlates with maximum supported by mobo? If the total max is 8 GB and I want 8 GB in there, am I free to put 1 x 8 GB or 2 x 4 GB, or nothing but 4 x 4 GB?

Ah yes btw I'm aware of how I should put pairs of identical modules in color-matched slots for dual-channel mode to work inb4 someone points me to that.

>>
>>59350231

I dont understand your post either.

I mean, you suggest me to replace GPU cooling system or what? Also, PSU is mounted at the botom of every single case I saw recently. Some people claim it allows it to inhale air from the outside (cooler) instead of air from the inside the case. Still, I would be able to get case with PSU mounted at the top anyway.

And whats wrong with motherboard?
>>
>>59350895
Nice cable management faggot.

The 480 is just a hot card and the Nitro version even more so. Hitting 80C during load is nothing out of the ordinary, especially since all those wires make the front fan worthless.

Anyway it's nothing to worry about these cards can handle 80c easy all day long.

An exhaust fan at the bottom will probably help a bit.
>>
>>59350985

Too bad that I cant hide those cables more anyway. No space left at the back, I had problems with closing the case from that side.

Exhaust fan you say? I thought that I shouldr ther pump the outside air inside the case from the bottom, but if you say so, I guess it makes sense too (I mean, air at the bottom gets warmer not only from GPU but also from HDDs as well).

GPU fan blows hot air at the bottom and you want to exhaust that.

Intake fan would just fuck up the airflow and push the hot air back on the GPU

And I also think two slots form a bank, so, ideally, you should get two sticks from the same model, or risk problems.

Memory channels. If you have a dual channel motherboard then the most sticks you need for optimal performance is two, one for each channel. If you have a quad channel motherboard then you need four sticks, again one for each channel. So while on a quad channel motherboard there is an advantage to having four sticks of RAM there is no such advantage on a dual channel board. On a dual channel board four sticks only means you have two sticks per channel, with no performance increase over two sticks.

>>
>>59356809

When you by 2400mhz RAM you're not buying faster RAM, you're buying RAM that is confirmed to be able to overclock to that speed. The default speed for DDR4 RAM is 2133mhz, so even if you put a 3200mhz kit in there it will run at 2133mhz until you overclock it.

So yes, it will work. The exception is if your motherboard only supports DDR3 and you want to use DDR4 memory.

go away shill

Still, having 4x4 16GB over 2x4 8GB on a dual channel board is still better, right? Otherwise why would dual channel boards even bother having 4 slots.

>in the market for a new gpu, $400 USD to spend

im looking at the EVGA SC (black) and the MSI Armor
does anyone have either of these cards/recommendations for other cards?

im mainly considering the EVGA card because i have bought two MSI cards so far over the years and i have had no luck with them

BenQ, ANUS a shit

Its $200 for something signifiacantly better, take it from someone stuck on haslel who had to buy overpriced ddr3 because 8gb wasnt cutting it any more, getting 16gb now will be better now then latter

Expansion. If you have a 2x8GB kit you can double it up later. If you have a 4x4GB kit you're stuck.

Can anyone recommend a cheap $100-150 23-24" monitor that has low input lag. This is for work travelling so I'd be willing to even go to 22". I have a 27" 1440p monitor, but with the stand its way too heavy/bulky to take with me.

This would primarily be for PS4 and work (laptop hdmi) so only 60hz needed.

Basically I want the lowest input lag possible, image quality and other features come second. I play mostly fighting games and some shooters.
>>
>>59357768
This build is pure autism.

Asus should have you covered with some cheap ass 24VH whatever monitor.
Virtually no inputlag, but the one i had years ago had horrible ghosting which was annoying on maps like dust2.

I need a new graphics card, something that can run games on max settings at that smooth/near 60fps (and hopefully won't bottleneck). I may in the coming year or so get a 1440p or 4k monitor. I'm willing to replace the new card it in 3-6 years depending, and spend $500-600.

My gtx 750ti just died and I'm looking for a new gpu. The rest of my system specs are asus h97 plus mb, 8gb 1600 ram. I was wondering if I should put a 1050ti or an rx 470 or maybe 480 in this or should i consider a different card?
>>
>>59358410
go for a rx 470
>>
>>59358246
I was considering a ti for the extra 100, but amazon is out with no indicator of restocking when, and I want something bad for new games. Is the RX 480 that solid at only 200-300? Can your run two? Is that even worth it? How does it stack up against say a 1080?

the 1080 ti is a baseline for 4k ultra 60fps

If the extra few dollars for the 4GB 480 doesn't break your bank, go with that.

I just skim through gamegpu benchmarks, but eurogamer has some nice CPU reviews. Hardware Unboxed recently posted a video comparing the G4560, i3 7350K, i5 7600K, and i7 7700K

>>59358230
I personally I'd decide on which resolution you're getting first. If 1440p get the GTX 1070 or possibly 1080. If 4K only the 1080Ti is good enough if you want to play new games.

Fuck no, this is retarded. Only esports like overwatch will run at 60FPS.

For example the new Mass Effect will need a 480/1060 just to stay above 30FPS on High at 1080p

i have a 290x (exact same performance as a 480) and it runs everything at +60fps ultra that i throw at it except for deus ex MD and mirrors edge catalyst

the 480 can do 1440p, but it is a bare minimum

The 290x was a 1440p card, but that was years ago. The vast majority of new AAA games will require a more powerful graphics card at 1440p.
