>Downloading ripped CD tracks: Never download copyrighted music from non-authorized Internet websites that provide you with ripped CD tracks.
But what is the problem if I have the original CD? Can't I download all of it's tracks from a torrent legally?
>>
Thinking about purchasing a 4chan pass because my mobile ISP is blocked, and I want to post at home with a VPN.

How does the pass work? Can I set it for both the PC and my phone? As far as I know there could be a slight issue with that.
>>
>>59252134
>Can I use my Pass on multiple devices?
>Passes may be used on multiple devices (computers, tablets, phones, etc), but can only be associated with one IP address at a time. For customers with dynamic IP addresses or who wish to use their Pass while on the move, you may update this IP address by re-authenticating from a new IP (currently limited to once every 30 minutes, subject to change). Note this is done automatically on devices that have already been authorized and are cookied.

What does this mean? Would it also allow me to post with my PIA VPN?

>>59252180
I didn't want to support chink moot but I really do post on mobile a lot, and I have been wanting to use my VPN more but I don't because I can't post on 4chan.
>>
>>59252198
You can't use it at the same time with two different IP addresses.
You can change the IP every 30 minutes.

So you cannot use it on your computer (it does not matter if VPN or not) and on your phone (not wifi but your phone carriers connection) at the same time, only with 30 minutes wait time between.

I am away from home from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Between that time I would be posting on my phone. After that I would be home and posting on the PC, I won't be using both at the same time.
It could always work if I also connect my phone to the VPN.
How do I do the reset? Or does it do it automatically from last post or something?

Newbie php/html question.

I have multiple checkboxes, an array of them, in which they were generated by php (they are itens of a rss feed). Now I needed to take all the checked itens and generate a new php file using a preformated html and show it, preferably in a popup.

I've never seen php before, so I'm totally lost. Don't even know if I'll have to use js.

>>59252557
Your PC-Browser gets re authenticated automatically if you click the remember option when visiting 4chan.
This will trigger an IP change.

If you don't authenticate (either automatically or manually), then no IP change will trigger.

So what you want to do is:
Auth your desktop and your phone at home using wifi, then whenever you leave and use your phones carrier network it'll switch automatically.
But once switched, you need to wait 30 minutes for it to work on the desktop again.

So if you quickly hop into a shop 10 minutes away and feel the urge to shitpost while waiting at the checkout you'd have to wait 30 minutes after you authenticated at the phone (either manually, by entering your code or, when set to remember, automatically by visiting 4chan)

https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/

1. download that program from that link
2. goto your task manager.
3. look for GWX.exe
4. right click it, goto folder
5. then go back to task manager, end process
6. go back to the folder and right click it
7. "Take ownership"
8. Let it run
9. delete it
10. reset PC

I recently bought an old dell computer to use as a file server and plex media server. Over the last few weeks I have noticed that the server overloads my local network sending too many packets to the switch. I have to shut off the computer and reset it to make my other machines usable.

It seems that when the computer crashes it does this, and it locks up my local network. I don't know if this is a common problem or if it can be fixed, but it's terribly annoying.

When it crashes it essentially makes every other computer on the network unable to open a browser window and will make my wireless connection unusable unless the server is powered off or the ethernet cable is removed and then the computer is reset.

>>59256029
employee has a foreign key pointing to the department
department has a foreign key pointing to the company

you don't _need_ foreign keys, but they make sure you don't delete a company when it still has departments/employees.
>>
>>59256029
>so company doesn't need to have a foreign key, right?
No, imagine if company had department key ID.

So you enter one company name, it has it's fields, whatever, and then it has one foreign key for department ID you want to tie it to. So obviously there you can only tie one department to company, it makes no sense.

So think it of it like that, you clearly need foreign key for companies.

Same goes for employees, they have foreign key for departments and not the other way round. One employee can work in one department and a department can have multiple employees working in it.

Unless you'd want to go for something more complicated, like department can be in multiple companies and such, then you'd need an additional table.

Yeah, that's gonna happen. It would take all of a week for them to patch that shit out. The best you can do is use a trick a while back for downloading one of the older versions, using a generated key to offline activate, and then patching the host file so it can never check for online validation. The stock one. I'm not sure what would fit in the case, but I'm open to suggestions

Yes. Well, technically it will write a new file table that is not linked to any of the existing data at which point any data that isn't over-written will be garbage data (which could potentially be recovered by file recovery software, but not if they've been over-written).

Though there probably exists more sophisticated formatters that will "format in place" i.e. migrate the existing data into the new file table.

had a very rudimentary setup shown to me yesterday, and am looking at a few suggestions to improve/simplify it.

long story short
>5 laptops with a switch (no dhcp/dns)
>no internet access needed
>working off a 169.254.*.*/16 network
>newest of the laptops has win10 and is hosting an .mdb file
>the remainder of the laptops have winxp pro and open .mdb through ODBC.
>no backups
>used purely for data entry, twice a year

for starters, I've suggested removing the switch in favor of an ad hoc wireless network off the win10 laptop so they have fewer wires on the table and less to set up when they're needed. The ad hoc connection would also provide dhcp and dns, making a mapped drive to the database a bit more manageable should the ip change. I considered setting static addresses, but didn't figure it was very important in such a small group. beyond that, a simple robocopy/windows backup to a flash drive on an hourly schedule.

what else could be done?

>>

It's exactly what the name suggests: a constructor for when copying the object.
In C++ if an argument isn't passed by reference, it is copied. If you don't provide a copy constructor, C++ compiler will make one for you when passing objects as argument by value.

So here's a question for any one familiar with the distro creation process:
Do the Debian developers literally have old hardware and machines and OS' to test their build's on? For example, Debian Stretch still supports the POWERpc architecture...so do they have powerpc's laying around that they use, or do they use some sort of emulation software to emulate a POWERpc? If so what is it that they use? Virtualbox and VMware to my knowledge don't allow anything like this? How do they actually test their builds for these niche systems?

What happens when you don't activate this on the latest version? Does it do the stuff Windows 7 does, or is it still just a watermark on the lower right. If it is just a watermark, I'm okay with it.
Gonna install on a friend's computer with no installation key (I could use my Microsoft account, but not too sure).

Tried Google, but it's older forum posts. Microsoft could have changed it. Heck, they even changed the way you get their Windows 10 ISO. You need a Windows only tool.

They're not "eager" to do it, they just don't share Nvidia's philosophy that open source is effectively arming your enemy. It's one thing to let the community access your code, it's another to devote resources to developing high efficiency drivers for a second OS

Are programming languages the same as "high level languages" ie java, python, c#? Or is "high level language" on a lower level?

I've been asked an example of a machine language but i thougght that was just 0s abd 1s

>Are programming languages the same as "high level languages" ie java, python, c#
Programming languages are both high level and low level languages.
C# and Java would be higher level languages than C.
The more direct control you have over your program, the lower the language is. Assembly for example would be even lower than C.

And machine code is binary, that's what your CPU can read. Assembly is basically that, except more human readable. Think of it like same sentences, just written in a different language.

Win 7, 8, or 10 for a gaming comp?

I ran 8 on my last comp but I think the update process is fucked up on it, and I think that was causing problems when I tried to install new amd drivers. That said that comp was on its last legs anyways. I've never used 7, and it might be too dated to play newer games but I wouldn't know. and Win 10 is Win 10.
>>
>>59263470
10. Fixes all driver errors.
>>
>>59263470
10 has DX12 and xbone crossplay. It's also the most likely to make full use of modern hardware. For most use cases 7 or 8 is fine tho

My work PC stays turned on whenever I turn it off in sort of a sleep mode. It doesn't respond to anything though and I have to shut it down by holding power button and turn it on again.

Every now and then it hits this, but not much. It never actually hits 80 though. I know I can turn HT off to cool it down, but I'm guessing unless I'm at a constant 80 it should be okay, right?

uMatrix's adblocking is vastly superior to uBlock.

Matrix-based filtering and its inheritance model > ABP-filtering semantic.

I use both uMatrix and uBlock for different things. If you allow a domain to run scripts, you still don't want ads pulled from them.

Pinging addresses on LAN via C#
public static class NetworkScanner {
public static IEnumerable<string> Scan() {
Ping p = new Ping();
List<string> activeIPs = new List<string>();
for (int i = 0; i < byte.MaxValue; i++) {
PingReply pr = p.Send(IPAddress.Parse("192.168.1." + i));
activeIPs.Add(pr?.Address.ToString());
}
return activeIPs;
}
}

Causes a BSOD and a PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES error.
After googling around it seems MS has had this issue for a while and have not fixed it. Any workarounds my dudes?

i'm almost 1 year into some 3 year(2 years for me) IT meme vocationalish degree

Transfer to a real university and do a CS degree, or stay where I am & learn CS as a hobby

the IT meme degree actually has 80% graduate eployment in related field with a good median starting salary(better than the stats for the CS degree)

the main problem with the meme it degree is that if I were to branch out into software development, employers would probably laugh at it and throw it in the trash

I have a program called "None" activated on my windows firewall. Does anyone know what it is?
>>
>>59263368
There are two kinds of programming languages. The first and the only kind anyone honestly uses is high level languages. This includes Java, Python, C# -- name one and it almost certainly will fall into this category. The reason they are "high level" is that they provide very convenient abstractions such as variables, proper flow control, structured types (arrays/classes) and so on. Assembly languages (also known as low level ones) on the other hand map directly to simple actions your CPU is capable of. They're a pain in the ass to work with, and the only time you'd ever do that is in extremely performance critical cases.
>>
>>59263886
You can't extend C: there cause it's not adjacent to that partition. You'll want to use a more powerful partition editor than the one that comes with Windows to move the recovery partition out of the way first. Alternatively, you could just delete that recovery partition and extend the main one to fill everything, since those things are pretty much useless.

Not if you're good, education doesn't matter if you can actually program.

You know your situation the best, so you'll have to make your own choices.
