I'm trying to find decent Bluetooth headphones that also have a detachable cable. I do NOT need ANC or Surround. Comfort before sound, since I have tinnitus, so please, no 'enhanced interrogation' devices. I'm not averse to buying neither Chink shit nor Beats or Skullcandy.

IF you have a wired only recommendation that you feel I have to look at, please feel free. I prefer wireless, but you guys are the 'pros' here.

>>
>>59240854
Very comfy in both fit and sound, you can listen to this all day every day and your ears won't get really tired. Also a very good tonal balance which I think is one on the most important things in headphones, there is a reason why people who own hd800, various hi-fi memes and other shit still come back to their HD600/650.

The only 2 things that they may be not the most fun phones and that they do need an amp but you can get something like schiit fulla 2 for 100$ or some other low priced stuff. On the other hand if you go crazy those are well suited for tube amps.
>>
>>59241502
Now thats some serious stretching

>>59242132
Why would the 600 be considered better? Isn't it just more neutral?
>>
>>59242217
Yes. The 650 is a slightly bloated version of the 600, and not in the fun sense. It mostly has more mid bass which means less clarity. If you're a fan or rap for example the extra bass of the 650 is not even noticeable in the way you want it to be. Overall it's a very slightly worse 600. It's fucking pointless.
>>
>>59242437
I might just go with the new Monoprice M1060 instead, I'm still trying to decide.

Sony MDR1-A, Bowers & Wilkins P7, Senns Momentum 2 and Fidelio X2, I listen to hip hop, electronic, r&b, alternative rock, metal and some folk and even a bit of latin music, which one is better for me? :(
>>
>>59242782
BTW, if it is expensive like the X2 then I wouldn't be able to purchase an amp, not for 2 months or so, I want to use them in my LG G4 and my PC (mobo is a gigabyte Z170 XP sli)
>>
>>59242796
MDR1-A or X2's. Both are efficient and will run off your phone just fine. Custom One Pro's are on sale rn for $120CAD/88USD on NCIX.
>>
Hello, /hpg/.

I asked before, but I forgot the recommendations...
I'm in the US, looking for something cheap, preferably with plain, non-ricey looks, 3.5mm, and anime girls wearing them are optional.
>>
>>59242782
the Sony has the best ergonomics and the Senn is probably gonna have the superior sound profile
>>
>>59243069
the X2 is very tempting, I'm just scratching my head a bit, I'm reading a lot of reviews in headfi from what it seems to be "the most experienced" users and some fucking praise them but other say they are just ok and overrated and even giving scores of 2 and a half star out of five, same thing happens to a lot of these reviews, all seems perfect until some smart ass says some shit that discourages me.

Is $250 ok for the fidelio X2's?, I'm about to hit the add to cart button
>>
>>59243297
the sony are out of the question now, the only seller on amazon is from the UK and it would take them one month or a bit more to arrive and the warranty would be a pain in the ass, I was in contact with a guy who was selling them used but at the end he didn't want to accept credit card.

The senns look fucking sexy but two thing bother me, first the promo that's going on right now is for the model with control for ios and currently I own an android phone. Second, the cables are expensive for this model in my country and they would be a must since I want to use them on my pc so a 1.8+ meter cable is a must for me and from what I know sennheiser uses a stupid proprietary cable.
>>
>>59243420
$250 is standard for X2's
>>
>>59243490
Well, I guess I'd go for them then, the Senns look cool and all but I'd be too afraid of using them outside, lots of crime in my city.
>>
>>59243531
Another tip, MDR1-A's are cheaper to import than get in the US
>>
>>59243713
I'm not in the US, the cheapest ones I could find were those from the uk, the ones being sold in my country (aka with local warranty) are about $320 which is more than what I'd like to spend on headphones at the moment.

I wanted the HD 650's or the 600's but they need and amp so they would have been useless for me for at least 2 months.

What noise canceling headphone would /g/ recommend for a budget of roughly $150~200 ?
>>
>>59242694
Don't. M1060 sounds worse than 600/650, have mediocre pleather pads, and have issues with shitty connectors.

600/650's are still one of the best values you can get. K612 if youre poorer.
>>
>>59245990
>M1060 sounds worse than 600/650

You've listened to them?

>have mediocre pleather pads

The stock ones don't seem bad, but you could always replace them with Audeze Vegan pads

>have issues with shitty connectors

I read that it can be fixed by "tightening the clasp of the mmcx connector with some tweezers", but I can't confirm
>>
>>59244977
Just get some sound isolating ear buds, work the same and don't need batteries.
>>

>>

>You've listened to them?
Yes

>The stock ones don't seem bad, but you could always replace them with Audeze Vegan pads
Pads are glued afaik, haven't tried. They weren't mine so I wasn't going to try. They just don't breathe as well as leather or velour, but leather is too expensive and velour won't seal. Kinda just part of the price. I've seen a few SBAF measurements which seem to say they play pretty well.

>I read that it can be fixed by "tightening the clasp of the mmcx connector with some tweezers", but I can't confirm
Probably, but again, weren't my pair. I still wouldn't trust a smaller connector like MMCX on such a large headphone. A 2.5 or minixlr could have easily fit if they had done something similar to Audeze's method. Squeezing it with some tweezers doesn't seem to much like of a permanent fix anyway, not a major gripe though. If I owned them, I'd probably replace them anyway.
>>
>>59246726
You could fix them, but looking at pepeposting and comfyposting you are probably not capable of doing that. Or doing anything at all for that matter. I recommend suicide.

Hey guys just a quick question, is there any difference between the normal hm5 pads and the angled ones? Planning on getting either one but the angled ones are sold out right now
>>
>>59243487
>sennheiser uses a stupid proprietary cable.
Not really. Any 2,5mm cable will fit the M2s just fine. I've tried it with a couple cables and they fit fine. They don't twist to lock like the OEM cable but that's not needed anyways.
Alternatively you can get a cable extension. It should be transparent assuming you get a good one, which shouldn't be hard.
>>
>>59249091
The angled ones are... angled. Makes the driver not sit parallel to your head, and can sometimes make headphones sound better. Its quite dependent on the headphone.
>>
>>59249490
Well I'm mostly focusing more on comfort. I'm using m40x's if it makes any difference. Just need good comfortable pads as a replacement
>>
>>59249604
M40x already have angled drivers, so I'd just say get the normal ones.

That said, HM5 pads fuck up the tonality. DT250 pads [either velour or the pleather ones], or MSR7 pads are generally a better buy if you value sound as well.

If you just want all out comfort, angled is somewhat better, though both are great.

Active noise cancelling doesn't perform well against things like voice because it is pattern based - it does best against constant background noise such as fans, wind, road, etc.

For comprehensive sound isolation you want IEM or almost any closed headphone.

No, not "down the road." Don't do that. You won't be getting nearly as much performance out of them as you should. Your laptop won't be able to drive them properly, and they won't sound right. If it has to be something cheap, at least buy a FiiO E10K or Schiit Fulla 2 or something like that. Each of them function as both a DAC and an amp, so they are a good value for the money. You could buy one of those along with the HD 598, and it should fit within your budget.

Don't fucking spite me and blow your entire budget on just a pair of £200 headphones, or I will haunt your fucking dreams for the entirety of your miserable life, I swear to god.

See if you can find it for a decent price from another retailer, or perhaps look into a different model of headphone altogether.

HD650

Dissapointed.

First I got the K612: Amazing beautiful detail, literally no bass
Then the DT990: Way too much boomy bass holy shit, also the treble is ear raping
Then the K702: Felt more refined than the 612s, still no bass
Then the K712s: Amazing, present bass, great detail across the entire spectrum except it's sibilant as shit, reminded me of the DT990s at times

Now I've settled wih the 650s because I know nothing can satisfy me. These are the only ones off the bat that sound fine across the board. No sibilance, very easy to listen too. It's a complete downgrade in the bass compared to the 712s though, and I really miss that but it's better everywhere else.
>>

HD600. I'm fucked for life, as I know I'll be comparing everything else I ever get against it, and they'll all fall short one way or another.

Still, I do think my old HD598 and the HD380 Pro I use at work aren't that bad. They're not neutral but come close enough. Not as detailed and separated, but still pretty good value at what they cost me.

I'm curious about HD650, HD700, HD800S, DT770, DT880, LCD-2, but I'll resist these moneyspending impulses. Maybe in a year I'll grab something else to play with. Let's do that.

Fair point.

Did look into the origen+, couldn't tell that from the specs I found. It actually looked like less power.

My other concert with origen+ is drivers. As it supports 192KHz "HD" nonsense, it's unlikely it is standard class1 usb audio like fulla2 is, which works everywhere. Origin+ likely needs special drivers.

IMO that's the right way of doing treble. We're not listening to speakers far away, we have the drivers right next to our hears so treble should be a little bit recessed. The 650 can still be sibilant with the right track (poorly mastered crap)

I tried a fazor LCD-2 last week. Incredibly unimpressive. I like my HD600's far more. Their only appeal is that linear low end/mids. Even then, they lack impact severely. Hell, pre-fazor LCD-2 is more interesting, even if a bit darker. At least it has personality and a bit more low end impact.
>>
>>59263689
There's a couple things to it. The sides should be extended far more than you'd intuitively think; likely 2-3 notches less. And they somewhat adapt to you, so the first days of wearing them aren't as comfortable. After a week or so, it's bliss.
>>
>>59263743

I've used LCD-2 pre-fazor extensively before I tried the newer ones, so it is not that hard to compare to. First impressions are generally accurate I find as well. Every headphone I've ever ended up liking, I've liked from the start. Very few headphones I actually liked more as time goes on. Usually the opposite actually. I find more I dislike as I go along.

I bought the lcd 2.2s a week ago, they are lush as anything. This is where personal preference comes in and you shouldn't just take the word of one guy. I love them personally. Weight is an issue and i would say the 2.2s are best for about 3 hours use at a time, near the end of which they will hurt the top of your head a bit.

You can get head pad things for them for a couple bucks off ebay. Plenty of other ways to solve the weird lumpy headband thing.

K612 is the best sub $500 headphone AKG has made imo.
>>
My QuadBeat 3 that came with LG G4 broke and I was wondering what other good and cheap IEMs I could get, never really used anything other than the ones that come with my phones
The only ones I know/heard about are the JVC something101 and Xiaomi Pistons, but there's like 5 versions of those
Could I get some recommendations at <=30 euros or so ? I would use them mostly only on my phone and laptop, don't care too much if they're bassy or neutral, but I want them to be comfortable enough
>>
The AKG K7XX is on massdrop right now.

I've got a set of Superlux hd668b's and no amp, is the K7XX enough of a step up to justify? What's a good amp to pair them with?
>>
>>59266439
Operation of a DAC is completely unrelated to file compression.
>>
>>59259978
>What is the most expensive headphone you own and how do you feel about it?
Fidelio X2. Great build quality, probably as good as it can get, extremely comfortable, although they're on the heavy side, and sound great; they're worth every penny, and since I've bought them second hand (they were immaculate) at half the price they were probably the best deal in my life.
I'd love to upgrade from them, although anything more expensive would be so high on diminishing returns it would be just a waste of money.
>>
>>59267721
Just EQ them if you're happy with everything but the sound quality.

Something flat.
>>
>>59267762
Every time I touch an EQ I feel I've fucked up the sound in a way or the other, so I tend to avoid EQ. Probably a sidegrade from the X2 would be nice, something lighter, but equally well built and good sounding and comfortable, that fits some other purpose. This summer I'll start exercising again, so probably I'll buy a pair of Porta Pro.

Looked a bit to what is available to me locally and I think I'm left with these choices (there were too many Panasonic, Sony and the other very known brands since I assumed they made from terrible shit tier to great tier, but at my price point there was too much shit)
>JVC HA-FX102 or FR202 (as I understand the only difference is that 202 has a mic, but the same in all other aspects)
>TAKSTAR HI1200
>Sennheiser CX 1.00, CX 3.00 or CX 300-II
Any thoughts ?
>>
>>59269235
Yes, I've downloaded and installed APO with PEACE. I know what FR charts are and how to read them. What I don't know is what the target curve should be and what I should hear. At any rate, as long as I like it, frequency response isn't the thing I deem the most important.
>>
>>59269426
I'd avoid the Sennheiser, especially the CX-300II: they're way too boomy to be enjoyable.
>>
>>59269487
After a minute of thought I decided that I'd like an in line microphone since I'll use them with my phone, which leaves me with either the Takstar HI1200 or JVC HA-FR202, JVC being a bit cheaper

The Harman target curve is the most accurate right now. Alternatively you can use the most recent GE curve which is essentially the Harman curve but with an upwards slope towards 20 Hz instead of the lowpass shelfing filter Harman makes use of.

I feel like there are a lot of X2 owners on /hpg/ so can anyone tell me how big the ear opening are on the pads? Do your ears fit in all the way in the pad? Even if they don't, are they still comfy?

I ask because last year I bought some Urbanite XL and the openings are circular just nowhere near big enough.

>>

My ears fully fit inside the X2.

The ear opening of the pads are roughly 2.5 inches/6.35cm vertical and 2 inches/5.08 cm horizontal, which should be big enough for most ears.

Anyone know anything about TAKSTAR HI1200 ? They seem to have metal "filters" wondering how cleanable they are, maybe they unscrew or something, would be great as the little mesh would fall out of every earphones I would try to clean them, they were always held up by a little ring of glue

HD 650 are definitely some of the easiest headphones to EQ due to their smooth FR.

This dude right here is using these settings:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<Equalizer PatchFormat="2">
<Band Mode="Low Shelving" Frequency="44.7744228" Gain="6" Bandwidth="2.44"/>
<Band Mode="High Shelving" Frequency="14000" Gain="5" Bandwidth="1.92"/>
<Band Mode="Low Shelving" Frequency="119.132429" Gain="5" Bandwidth="1.82"/>
<Band Mode="Peak/Dip" Frequency="1200" Gain="3" Bandwidth="2.5"/>
<Band Mode="Peak/Dip" Frequency="8000" Gain="-6" Bandwidth="0.25"/>
</Equalizer>

Tried using the same values with EQAPO but it looks nothing like the picture.

headphones are the opposite of subwoofers. 0.02% is actually pretty good. par is like 0.1%. so you have a full factor of ten. get yourself an astell and kern amp or something with 0.0001% you'll still hear the harmonies

Damn, I'm loving my HD 558s. I wasn't blown away by them initially, because they're not the most colored headphone you can get. But the more time I spend with them the more enjoyable I find them. I find myself just greatly appreciating the sound itself, in a way I never have with other headphones, there is no fatigue whatsoever, it's just incredibly enjoyable listening to music.

I wish the bass was slightly, just slightly punchier, but man, great cans.

You don't need a DAC for them
>>
>>59274189
One that connects to an amplifier.

Try driving the X2 off of the onboard audio first, then consider purchasing an external dac/amp afterwards, if you experience humming/noise/etc.

The X2 itself is low impedance and high sensitivity, so you really don't need anything more powerful than an E10K or Fulla 2.

The TMA-2 is overhyped and overpriced, afaik.

I've had an interest in the Panasonic rp hd10 ever since it launched, but was only sold in the JP and EU market, so it never really got popular.

Never owned a pair, though contemplated purchasing to try. FR graph looks interesting though.
>>
>>59273472
Afaik HD598se improve on the bass, but not a worth it upgrade over 558. Start saving for HD600 or HD650 ;)

A cheap usb dac+amp such as the Schiit Fulla 2 (if you don't have one) would unlock the 558 potential. Pretty much a requirement for HD600+

It's a good meme. Now the real meme is Sennheiser not updating HD600/650. HD700 has some things over HD600 but it's sound is all over the place and it doesn't feel like a continuation of HD6xx, rather an attempt to mix HD800 with HD650 with a mixed result. People whine over a 'true" HD600 upgrade and the closest thing most people go for is LCD 2 that hovers around 1k price tag.
