Had my Yotaphone 2 arrive today. I'm pretty happy with it, it's sturdy and the E-ink screen is pretty comfy to use. You get fair bit of ghosting running ordinary android through the E-ink screen but it's bearable, and for reading text and using the UI designed for it, it's nice to look at. My main problem with it is that switching between screens can be a bit awkward at first but you do get used to it. The main AMOLED screen looks great and makes my cheap old IPS monitor look pretty dull in comparison.

Overall it just werks really. A xiaomeme equivalent would probably give you slightly fresher specs for the same price but then you're not getting the dual screen meme, and the Yotaphone is built pretty damn solidly so I don't know how well you'd go finding another comparably built phone.

Main downsides are just obvious shit like lack of microSD - though I'll probably get by fine just with OTG anyway, I've never really needed to store too much shit on my phone. The main camera is only 8 megapixel, though it's reasonable enough given that. Battery capacity will probably be underwhelming but I haven't really had time to get a feel for it.

Pic related is the charger adapter Gearbest chucked in. It's a hunk of shit that you can turn once it's attached to the charger, and it drops straight into powerpoints and could just about slide straight out, so I decided I could do without a housefire. The camera's at least good enough to make my keyboard look much dirtier than it does to the naked eye though. The rest of the shit you get with it is nicely packaged but really just what you'd normally expect, though the earphones are decent and come with double flange tips which is a nice touch.

This. I was about to pull the trigger on a Note 4X, until I realized it doesn't support this band which is widely used in Frogland (as in the UK and the rest of Europe which I intend to visit in the future).
I think I'm gonna get the Note Pro 3 SE meme instead since it supports it and has almost the same specs, bar the slightly inferior camera and battery life (on the upside, it has a better SoC).

My foam earphone tips arrived today, having not used anything like them before it was a bit of an interesting experience.

From the Ali listing I was expecting them to come in a nice plastic case like pic related, instead they were packed in a boring plastic zip bag. They're all the same dimensions but just in different colours, I wasn't aware of it at first so I tried each pair on my KZ EDR2s and didn't feel much of a difference so I went with the somewhat matching grey pair.

With these there's a bit of a weird sensation where you aren't used to them being pushed in so far but I think after a while that feeling should pass. But they feel a lot more comfortable than the rubber tips that come with the KZs, should make it a little easier to fall asleep to music now.

I didn't realize the colorful ones were actually different colors (they say on the clip), which was a nice surprise. The "HI /CSG/" and half of the date are the colors. The other half of the date is written with the cat tip pens.

The blue and red refills I got fit both type of pen nicely, but do not fit any American pen I own. The designs are obviously very cute. I'm giving a trio of the cat-tip pens to my sister for her birthday. (they are black ink). The cat tips are plastic, not erasers. (Just in case u were wondering - I wasn't sure when I ordered them)

MIUI is pretty nice compared to stock android/lineageOS. If you wanna keep using it you should unlock the bootloader anyway and flash Xiaomi.eu MIUI rom, its a lot better than Xiaomis MIUI, no chink botnet, less bloatware and extra stuff.

If you want normal android you could look for roms for your phone, there is official LineageOS Roms for some Xiaomi phones.

Headphone Review:

Just got my KZ-ATE's two days ago. I don't have an unboxing image because my chink phone has been on hold for about 30 days now...

High's and Mid's are great. Responsive and tight. Low's/Bass is punchy but light. Very clear but not as pronounced as it could be. Overall max volume could be better but for the price range I think they are fine.

Finally got my Zuk Z2 that I ordered a month ago and it has a stuck white pixel on black screens. Trying one of those apps that are made for fixing it, but I'm not confident in it working. Is Ting phone service a good deal?
A part of me likes having the freedom of data and the ability to watch netflix and the like in places without wireless, but I don't really go anywhere outside of home, school, and work and I haven't had data for more than a year but I've been getting along fine. Make sure you can supply enough power. I got one of these and the drive I use it with takes more power than a single USB port can provide (and the case only came with a standard cable).
