Any video with "chapters" displays an incorrect video length when I cut it with ffmpeg. Cutting to a .webm with ffmpeg does not produce a thumbnail even though I should have them (example in pic).

How do I fix these two things? How do you disable chapters from a video? I can just convert to another format to avoid .webm fucking me.

>>
>>59065628
Hey, sorry, I can't really provide the "input of a working webm" because ffmpeg doesn't seem to be able to create webms with working thumbnails- I'd have to fetch a random working webm from elsewhere.

But here's what I used, which ended up with a false filelength due to the original video having chapters:

ffmpeg -ss 00:02:45 -t 00:02:52 -i x.mp4 y.mp4

Had to check the sticky to see how to use the "code" tags, hope it worked. Is this enough?
>>
>>59066353
the deal is, webm does not have thumbnails.
you have some sort of explorer extension that generates those for you.
so you might encode differently than the ones you download.
are you using VP8 or VP9?
Hence the question of showing both outputs.

Besides, using -ss before the input is inaccurate (depending on the ffmpeg version), so use it after the input.

Tbh I don't know what VP8 or VP9 means, but the program I use to generate webm thumbnails is "Media Preview Configuration", but refreshing it doesn't generate ffmpeg thumbnails. Sorry if I was dishonest for not mentioning this at first...

But thanks for the tip on the placement of the commands- I'll heed that in the future.

Honestly I was stressing-out so much over how do what you requested, if I even understood it etc. but here's an upload of an ffmpeg-created **.mp4** with a false display length (it can't even play on Firefox for desktop for me):

VP8/9 is the video encoding, like h264/h265.

the input information would have been enough.
Input #0, matroska,webm, from 'pqjfnf.webm':
Metadata:
encoder : Lavf57.66.102
Duration: 00:04:23.04, start: -0.003000, bitrate: 295 kb/s
Stream #0:0: Video: vp9 (Profile 0), yuv420p(tv, progressive), 720x404, SAR 1:1 DAR 180:101, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 1k tbn, 1k tbc (default)
Stream #0:1: Audio: opus, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp (default)

The webms you find on 4chan are all vp8 encoded, yours is vp9 and your preview thing probably doesn't know it yet.

if you want to cut out stuff try it like this
ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -ss 00:02:45 -t 00:01:30 -c:v libx264 -preset slow -crf 21 -c:a aac -b:a 192k -map_metadata -1 output.mp4

-i takes the input
-ss seeks to 2 minutes 45 seconds
-t convert the next 1 minute and 30 seconds
-c:v use libx264 to generate a h264 encoded video
-preset use a slow x264 preset. the slower the preset, the higher the compression/lower the filesize
-crf use a constant rate factor of 21, read up on that here https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/H.264
-c:a use aac encoder
-b:a use 192kilobit per second for audio
-map_metadata remove the metadata

The above just goes on and on after this with "chapters" and "streams" and stuff.

I'll use your command for cutting from now on. Much love. Thanks for the explanation, too. But does this fix the false filelength in output files when the input file has "chapters"?

I'm gonna take it from the top, feel free to skip sections.

I think Samsung used to have this option but it may have been removed to improve app compatibility.
Usually, custom roms have an option to fiddle around with this as they assume you're able to deal with it if you make a mistake.

Most smartphones don't have resolution options, as they're built to display at the best resolution. Most software is built to remove user choice in exchange for a easier user experience. Instead of running 720p and getting small battery and performance improvements, you're always running the highest resolution your phone can display for the best picture quality.

If your phone is rooted, you can use a terminal emulator/command prompt to type in terminal commands to change your phone's density (DPI) value, which is how android knows what size to make everything on your screen, and your actual resolution.
>wm density XXX
>wm size YYYxYYY
If you're not rooted, here's what you can try.

http://www.androidbeat.com/2015/07/how-to-change-dpi-of-android-device-without-root/

Use a DPI calculator to find the density value you're gonna need for your new resolution. Type in your phone screen size and your preferred resolution.
https://www.sven.de/dpi/

This should keep you from making the device unusably small or large.

Try runs the code that has a possibility of failure, which would otherwise result in the code being terminated.

Catch runs if that code does error, kills that previously executing code from the stack and handles the error with code you provide to continuing running the thread without failure.

two things wrong here.
data is not an array but an object, so you can't access it using an index.
country-id is not a valid property name.

if you want the first property using an index you can use Object.keys, which returns an array of all properties of an object.
then you can get the first property and get it's value.
info.data[Object.keys(json.data)[0]]["country-id"]

Idf you're usIng eclipse/android studio or really any java ide worth using, it will auto fill if you try to use functions that would require a try catch. Strings don't like whitespace. They like concatenation, and the usual symbol to represent a space is awkward to remember and use (some ASCII/Unicode thing) so a period is used for concatenation instead.

>>59071465
Depends on how they do it. For pages which do overlays, you can just target the "warning" for filtering.

There are also anti-anti-adblock lists like Anti-Adblock Killer which you can add to your listings.

Since all anti-adblock is javascript, you can disable it on sites which don't require it. The problem comes when the site requires js, but I'm not sure if you can target specific js files in uMatrix/etc.

I'm looking to find/ make a program that automatically clocks and appends a text file with the amount of time I spent doing it.

Example: Let's say I'm about to practice guitar. I type something like "guitar begin" and the clock starts and runs until I type "end". It would then somehow ammend a text file (ideally a spread sheet) with the time spent practicing.

i've tried everything to get rid of this god damn electrical fucking noise coming out of my speakers and nothing's worked. it only ever appears when my computer is plugged in to the speakers. through an amp or directly. it's coming out of the computer. only when i move the mouse, scroll a page, otherwise cause CPU activity. the noises that come out when there's PCI activity, eg playing a game, are quite incessantly louder, and unspeakably fucking annoying.

the only thing that solved it was a USB sound card that i got from micro center for $8 but it fried itself dead within 24 hours of owning it and they didn't carry any USB sound cards there of a higher quality. i bought a dedicated sound card today thinking that'd be a plausible solution, but it did literally fucking nothing at all. same sounds still coming out of the computer, now it's just coming out of a pricey dedicated sound card.

No. Their SATA SSDs (850 EVO/Pro line) are the fastest on the market. Their M.2 NVMe are, again, the fastest on the market (even though they throttle pretty fast due to heat).

The question you should ask is whether you need consistent 500MB+ R/W speeds. Most people don't, but for the people who do, there is nobody else I'd consider. Most people would be happy with a mid-ranged SSD from Crucial or SanDisk, and that's fine too.

first time i set this computer up on this outlet i had this issue. somehow adding my dj mixer to the setup eliminated the noise.

just a few weeks ago, i got an ultrawide monitor, which pretty much demanded i shuffle around my setup just so hardware can all co-exist on my desk, and cables can still reach where they need to go. the static shitting noise reappeared, and i haven't been able to get it to go away since. except with that made in china usb sound card.

the only difference to the setup is i unplugged a ps3, an electric drum kit, and a turntable. i plugged in the new monitor.

the outlet has never been grounded but moving the whole setup to an extension cable to a ground GFCI outlet in the bathroom (which i personally tested to be grounded) didn't eliminate the problem either. what's strange is somehow i had no noise at all with all that extra bullshit plugged in, on an ungrounded outlet at that.

next thing i'll try is to see if these bullshit $2 RCA cables i bought make a good noose

Power strips can be damaged during a surge. They're cheap because they're only meant to protect the equipment behind them once.

Or, it could just be because it was always faulty. That'd be a manufacturing defect.

Does the whine still occur if you plug the speakers directly into the outlet? If so, it's a wiring problem.

>could you elaborate a bit more on this? I always thought that any changed or created files made within the sandbox were discarded after the sandbox was closed?

The main problem that I have with sandboxes is that they access the same graphics/audio stack as the host. This means that malware can still take screenshots / ferry it off to a server, and you probably wouldn't know about it. I don't know if Sandboxie can prevent network activity either or whether that needs to be a firewall restriction.

I don't know if Windows exposes the ability to isolate applications in that manner.

I remember reading some wiki page that was full of satire of various software. It was a lot of fun and I wanted to have a look at it again but I can't find it, anyone know what I'm talking about? The chrome page started off with something like "Google Chrome (aka botnet)" and went on about all its various security flaws and whatnot.

Is there an idiot's guide to setting up/using TOR?

Not trying to do anything too out there, I just need to make a facebook account for something and want my usage of the site to be isolated to a separate browser that FB can't track me from.

>just use FF with noscript, self destructiong cookies and umatrix

I already use that as my normal browser, though I had to remove umatrix since it makes basically every web page unsable and unike noscript is all or nothing, thoug even with noscript I end up having to enable almost everything anyways just to get the bare minimum functionality.

Which sort of defeats the point, doesn't it?

In that case, don't rush it. By the second year you'll have acquired more tools. You'll probably learn to use git, which will make working on existing projects easier. And they'll get through your head the idea that what makes a programmer a programmer and not a stack overflow poster is that to successfully program, you just have to read library documentations. Learn to know what tools already exist, and "learn to learn how to learn those tools", if that makes any sense.

>>59075983
The main problem with USB 3.0/1 is that it causes a shitload of RF noise @ 2.4-2.5 GHz while in use. If the phone isn't shielded properly, it will cause disruptions to its WiFi/VoLTE capabilities while doing so. It may also cause disruption to some cellular networks; LTE has several bands within the 2.4GHz range.

I don't know if phone manufacturers can solve this by physically moving the wifi/baseband chipsets as far away as possible, or by shielding the port more thoroughly. I don't know if there are even any USB 3.0+ phones on the market right now.

Also, Type-C is a connector, not a transfer standard. The only thing it implies is rapid charging capabilities.

>why does data streamed from the ssd / hd have to go to the cpu first before being routed to the gpu then back to the cpu?

Because you don't actually understand what's happening. What do you think controls your I/O?

Spoiler: Your hardware is stupid and has a very limited idea as to what to do with itself. It's not "The CPU" or "The GPU" or "The SSD". It's your operating system.

>why doesnt data get streamed in 2 separate pipelines depending on if its gpu or cpu shit and the gpu have direct access to the ssd/ hd

Because that would cause horrible concurrency issues due to your operating systems not "talking" with each other. The physical block device is a slave. It does what the OS tells it to do.

A notable exception is the case of a SAN architecture where concurrent operating system access can be achieved to a single underlying block device, but it can't send multiple operating systems to the same "slice" without concurrency issues because OSes aren't designed for this.

>you got circut boards that are etched on 2 sides. you telling me they cant make a storage device that allows shit to be read and off loaded in 2 separate terminals? depending on how its flagged.

Yes, I'm telling you that.

Theoretically, you might be able to run a hypervisor which allows for a GPU to run its own OS in concurrency with the general purpose OS, but none of your hardware is designed for this and it would fail miserably without Mobo/CPU/GPU manufacturers working together closely.

Of course, it would be entirely pointless because I/O has physical links which are already being saturated, as well as command queue limitations. It's not like there's some "super secret hidden potential" you thought of. SATA AHCI doesn't go past 550MB/s & 1 command queue even with this retarded idea.
