just bought a 24" curved samsung monitor and it looks slightly worse than my 4 year old 21.5" monitor

the text is not just as clear

its so bad i can easily distinguish the pixels

is this shit common? is it because 24" makes 1080p look shitty?

curved monitor is va and old one is tn

i've got a 120€ benq 24" 1080p and it works like a charm. Maybe try to calibrate it with official tools provided by Samsung?

also, Samsung...

A 21.5" monitor has a resolution of 1920x1080. But so does the 24" Samsung curved monitor you bought. You literally gained no space on screen whatsoever, you just made everything bigger (i.e. upscaling), hence why it looks worse.

1080p on 24" isn't bad it's just comfy enough
>>
>>58859325
>1080p on 24" isn't bad
If you sit ten feet from your monitor, sure, it's not bad. But at a normal distance, it's shit. Hell, 1080p on 21/22" is bad at a normal distance. They should shrink it to 17 or 18", and maybe 20" for long-distance viewing.

this, 1080p is fine for /g/ tier usage at that size.

it's fine bigger than that for gayman and general internets.

only /g/ thinks 1080p is unacceptable at higher sizes because they cuck themselves with tiny monitors because muh PPI.

back here in reality even 60 PPI is good enough at a distance of just over 4 feet, and 120 PPI is fine for 2.5 feet.

fun fact: the bigger your display, the less time you spend hunched over pixel peeping like a typical /g/nu/linux user.

I'm about to purchase this monitor, my old monitor is also a Samsung 24" but it's an LCD with an LED backlight.

From what I've read, it's the happy medium between a 144 Hz 1 ms TN panel and having almost as good color quality as a typical IPS panel. Basically you get both speed and good colors without having to choose between one or the other. Nor do you need to pay out the ass for a high speed IPS panel.

Would you recommend this monitor, or should I go with an ASUS MG248Q? I heard the MG's panels and color are slightly improved over the VG version it replaced, on top of it being almost 50 bucks less than the Samsung monitor.

I don't care about the curviness, but I need some decent color accuracy for painting and photoshop, and I absolutely need to experience 144 Hz @ 1 ms. But I don't think anyone has directly compared these two monitors. Most other 1080p 144 Hz monitors seem to have quality control issues and other problems, but these two seem to hit the right spots with me. People have recommended ViewSonic, but that monitor seems so old and there aren't many user reviews so I might skip it unless the picture quality is really good.

man where do you guys get these silly prices? Everywhere I look even the cheapest garbage 144 Hz 1080p monitor is at least $200 even on sale. But I'm always hearing about people nabbing these between $150-$99. Are you guys getting this shit on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

Is $259.99 unreasonable for an ASUS MG248Q when the normal price is $300?
Is $300 for a curved Samsung unreasonable when it's normally at $350?
>>
>>58859746
Not to mention the Samsung is only a few months old, so how are you guys getting them at such low prices so quick.
