i just did a brief search and it looks like the Oceanus does come in titanium, but:

i don't want a solar watch and i don't want a bunch of little watches on my watch.

I bought it in November of last year. It was from 2014. One of the last 3570.50s. Came with bracelet but no box or papers. I was prepared to pay import taxes, I had to pay $60 import taxes for my seamaster I bought early last year. But it's been three months and I haven't received any billing like I did with my 2220.80. What does "t." mean?
>>
My thoughts after a few days:
The finishing is spectacular, I don't get tired of looking at it. The blue hands are sublime but I wish the subdials had the same color instead of black. The watch is quite thick at 15mm but the shape of the case does a lot to hide it from all but a direct side view and it's less than 5% thicker than a MOTFM. The movement is running about 6 seconds a day fast, unfortunately the chronograph portion is under the dial and invisible through the caseback. No microadjusts on the bracelet but two half links were included. Not bad for less than $1100.
>>
>>58751684
Forgot photo.

I just bought my first "real" watch, a Seiko Premier analogue quartz watch with a date calendar and two hands. I really like it but I'm a bit worried, because in my autistic attempts at getting the long hand to match my computer's time, I've accidentally done a couple of things that perhaps aren't good practice:
>turned the second hand backwards ½ turn
>once failed to pull the crown all the way out before turning it, resulting in both the date calendar and second hand advancing at the same time
Any reason to worry about this or am I just being silly? The manual doesn't mention these situations being an issue, but, still.

>im suprised there isnt more digital watch appreciation here.
There is some but digital is a mixed bag really.

Aesthetics should be easier than mechanical in theory since the movements tend to be smaller so you get more freedom in layouts. Unfortunately many of the designs are downright hideous. Also few digital offer complications.

Smart watches has made it possible for third parties to make designs, many of which are nice, tidy and can have complications. The downside is that you need a daily recharge.

>o-ok anon, thanks, but everybody else is telling me it's shit
And everyone says SSDs are a meme.

I understand the disdain towards Steinhart as a brand as 80% of their watches are just straight up uninspired Sub Homages. I get that some people don't like to see that.

But at the same time, those people have to stop and look at everything else about the watch.
They're adequately finished considering the price, far from exceptional, but nor are they poor.
They have considerably more accurate movements than you might find in Seikos of a comparable price. By a considerable margin too.

Their original designs are hit and miss. I personally love the look of the Titanium 500, and the Military 42 (Though the branding in the middle of the dial is a turn off).

Frankly dude, if you like the look of the Titanium 500, go for it. Don't be memed out of it. It's a solid watch, I know one anon here had a bad time with a Steinhart Fliegar, never knew what became of it or what was wrong with it in the first place - beyond the obvious that is atleast.
If Titanium 500 bro crops up, be sure to ask him. He'd feed in how it is in person. I can only speak on part of the OVM.

What does /wt/ think about the new Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80?

>Cheaper than either a Le Locle OR a Powermatic

MEMS is not new by any means. In horology there is also several Ulysse Nardin designs that also use MEMS. They are also working on glass bridges and if I understood/remember the article correctly someone is making integrated bridges, that is bridges manufactured with jewel equivalent fabricated from the start.

>>58756970
I am not sure there *is* a crash but I guess it will come sooner or later. With MEMS you take a lot of manual labour out of the production and the main value add is design and functionality.

The eichi II in person struck me as meh to be honest. Unless you're looking at it with a ten power loupe, it just looks really sterile and empty. >>
>>58774653
Both cool, Rolex explorer is great as it is reserved rolex and a true icon.

Grand Seiko not as much an icon but for me an extremely respectable and great maker.

Quality wise when handling, the bracelet on both are extremely nice.

Case/Dial - I will give it to the Grand Seiko for the higher finish with more intricate case details and the better polish. Dial really reflects light nicely on the GS. Can't complain about the iconic explorer dial of course.

Movement on both are great of course. Two of the greats in the industry I'm sure.

They for me are different watches of course and can't say I prefer one over the other.

One crap thing about it is that its 13.2mm thick or so. Explorer is 12mm

That is one thing I can say that I prefer the rolex over the GS.

On the wrist it doesnt seem too thick so it is OK. But could be improved.

One thing I have discovered is the super legibility of this watch. The super sharp hands make it extremely clear what the time is. Although not the most popular GS, i like it a lot with the red accents making it a little sportier than the dressier GS watches.

It is the most beautiful movement watch I've owned for sure.
>>
>>58776603
the katana polished sword hands really make GS
>>
>>58776603
The hands are my favourite feature of Grand Seikos. And yeah the minute track makes it an easy watch to wear every day.

I'm still on the fence about the choice of my first "nice" watch, Nomos or GS.
I'll need to actually try different models on - it will be quite a ways before I can buy one anyway.

So pretty much shitters, although I really like the Seiko and Orient. The Luch is just for fun since I got it for a good price.
I don't consider any of them actually good watches though, the finishing, and even the design, aren't up to par with the better watches out there.

Fucking love that watch. Angled lugs, rocket hands, the blues. I really am impressed by those. But I can't justify $800 or whatever for one.
>>
>>58782332

$560.

Looks like the MB&F HM no.3. If it is, it's not worth $500k. Maybe $200k tops.

Best <$150 beater to travel around southeast Asia with? Don't want to lose my arm.

Any diving won't be that far down and it'll be two or three trips at most.

I recall that in one episode they mention him wearing a TAG Heuer. Based on the timeline it would have been 1-2 years after TAG bought Heuer, so it is possible it was a mistranslation of just Heuer, I wasn't listening well enough until I read the subtitle. Additionally, if he had had the watch for more than two years it would have definitely been Heuer.

G-shock, Mdv-106, maybe an orient ray, generic Seiko 5, Casio edifice, 3 Vostoks just in case, the list could go on...
>>
>>58786649
coo. i thought it was a yachtmaster knowing how rich his gramps is and since he's got the whole marine getup.
