In /csg/, we discuss the cheap shit you see on Gearbest, Taobao, AliExpress, Banggood, eBay and similar sites.

Chinese New Year's celebrations are still on, shit won't ship until 5 February at the latest. Expect delays.

>>58733215

Don't expect to plug a mouse and a monitor into it like a Raspberry or Orange Pi, you SSH into the chip and do shit that way. Not recommended for beginners. You can get a second hand Pi model A for a few quid nowadays
>>
>>58733231
>>58733215
This.
Don't get a Orange Pi Zero if you're a beginner. They're meant to be used over ssh or serial.
They're also the only model with no video out port (You can wire up video yourself on some of the pins though)

But if you have to ask if you should buy the Zero, the answer is no.

The Orange Pi Lite should only be $12 though. That's probably the optimal TV box.
If you don't need WiFi, you can manage with the $10 Orange Pi One, which is only $1 more than the 512MB Zero

Raspberry Pis are best for beginners due to software support, but if you can't afford $35, the Orange Pi One is your best bet.

I've got this http://a.co/fLJjyYH IDE/SATA adapter for about ~8 $.
But before I've hooked it up, I've read the reviews and it seems the power supply comes with free ticket to the fire department and fried HDDs/SSDs/Optic drives, and I started to get paranoid.

1. Anyone had any experience with this adapter?
2. Can the adapter only damage the whatever plugged to it?
3. Is there another options for the power supply?

>>58733378
No, Ali just doesn't sell automatic/butterfly knives. It's a site policy, like how they don't sell Nazi flags anymore.

Just buy your knives from Fasttech, they have the best selection of non-counterfeits I've seen.

Basically any 12V HDD power adapter.
Try one for external disks, for me they're all the same, and I'd bet one would work just fine with that.
>>
>buy $155 phone in aliexpress

YOOOOOOOOOooooOoooOOOO. I was to use the $5 to buy some denim type C cable. That sucked.
>>
>>58734943
I don't buy automatic knives because it's just another part that can break and there are plenty of deployment methods that are so close to automatics in terms of speed the differences are practically indistinguishable. Get a good ball bearing flipper knife (which are sold on Ali, look up "ball bearing flipper knife" and you'll get lots of high quality Zero Tolerance fakes) and with just a little bit of practice you'll be just as fast as with an auto.
>>

If you know what to look for then buying second hand would probably a better bet, but if that isn't an option then it's not like any but the most expensive new saxophones are going to come from anywhere but China anyway.

Shouldn't it be 5V? since it's supposed to run 2.5" HDD as well.
Also does pic related could potentially harm the HDD? I doubt since there shouldn't be any power right?
>>
>>58735166
>Shouldn't it be 5V? since it's supposed to run 2.5" HDD as well.
Good point desu, but I'm betting it gets the 5V for the 5V rail, and 2.5's, from USB, and the 12V, for the 12V rail, and every 3.5" ever, from the power adapter.
Try it with a 2.5 if you wanna. My bet is that the 12V does nothing for it, or it's steddped down.
You could also look at the included adapter or whatever and just find another adapter that has the same voltage and the same or above amount of amps.

>>
>>58735429
Wait, shit. It's using a literal raw SATA/molex plug, from the power adapter, directly into the drive?
I thought it used a 12V adapter with a barrel plug that went into the adapter and was passed onto the drive. Looking at photos now, the drive doesn't plug into the adapter, the adapter just has a sata plug on it for you to connect a cable to.
In that case, the standalone psu seen >>58734770 probably has both 5v and 12v out. There's no way the 5V a 2.5" needs to come from USB, unless you made a separate adapter.
If you don't need anything portable, I'd just say grab a desktop PSU and jump one of the black and the green wire on the motherboard connector, if you need something smaller maybe https://www.moddiy.com/product_images/f/977/USB_to_2.5_SSD_5-Pin_SATA_Power_Adapter_Cable_(20cm)_(2)__96578_zoom.jpg for 2.5" disks and >>58735269

anyone remember the dollar mouse on ebay?
i got mine yesterday. I was working with it all last night, and i gotta say, for a dollar i think it was well worth it. It's comfortable and the no sweat design is kinda working i guess, i mean i got a little perspiration but not as much as other gaming mice.
The build quality is what you would expect for a dollar, the plastic feels very light and cheap, but still very functional. I don't see this lasting more than a year under heavy use.
The LED's are a neutral for me, it looks flashy and "cool" but you can't control the lighting. it randomly cycles it's colors kinda like a night light. So that's a plus, it will keep the boogey man away.
the dpi settings are meh, i usually only use the second one anyways, depending on the person i don't think it will suit the most hardcore gamer

not bad for a dollar, 7/10
Will use until it breaks

My DZAT DF10s arrived today. Bought them after getting shilled on /csg/ and expected nothing special really.

But holy shit do they sound amazing. I didn't know in-ears could sound this good. I own Sennheiser CX 300s and they sound like a children's toy compared to DZAT.
Only my AKG 701s and Sennheiser HD 600s beat them in sound quality but even they lose in wearing comfort.
Also they easily sound much better than two 40€ headphones I have.

Probably the best budget buy I ever got.

You also get a notebook, pen and earphone bag with cool chink symbols on it in to feel awesome for showing it in public.

Just awesome!

Sound: 7.5/10
Ergonomics: 8/10
Design: 10/10
Packaging and extras: 10/10

Hey /csg/, I've had an Infliktor CK104 for about 6 months now and all of a sudden I noticed a buzzing coming from it when the lights are on. Turn them off, the buzzing stops. Back on and it instantly starts buzzing again.

It never did this before, and to my limited knowledge of electical shit, buzzing generally happens with transformers and I don't think there's a transformer in this, is there? Anyone have any idea what's going on? I know it's chinkshit but I still want to know why

No need to do all that.

You get like 95% of the performance boost with just adding the capacitor 47uF 16V or bigger.

So no need for zener change, and no need of resistor mod.

Pic related, both are nearly identical, one has the 2 capacitor + resitor mod and the other one just a 100uF a 16V cap, and the noise level is nearly identical.

Hell you can mod them without a soldering iron, just place the negative on the left SUQARE pad hole and bend the leg and apply some tape, then the positive on the hole above the 2k2 resistor, next to the green wire in my case (yours can use other color, respect the position not the color), then bend the leg and apply some tape, and you're done, noise hack with a 0.2$ condenser and no soldering iron.

Note: I have seen some pics were the hole above the 2k2 resistor is not exposed, and you need scrach the green stuff to use a soldering iron in that case to solder the leg to the now partially exposed pad.

the tea you'll get from aliexpress won't be a delicacy, unless you pay a reasonable delicacy price for it, but if you like tea it's very much worth it because it will be so very much better than the literal dust found in teabags, and it won't cost much more - or it will be cheaper depending on the teabags you're used to

Two requests. Is there any Chink RGB mech that has a standard keyset, and two what's the best drone under $400. I'd like a feature set close to the DJI Mavic
>>
>>58742358
The reason I am looking at knock offs is because I don't want to spend real money on something that is not required, its just a nice quality of life thing I use every now and then, unless there is a chink knock off i'm not noticing but that calculator from aliexpress is more expensive then amazon by almost twice the price.

Casio?

Actually, graphing calculators are horrible enough as-is, I'd kinda strongly recommend using your computer or smartphone.
>>
>>58743173
honestly hate using the computer as a calculator, and don't have a smartphone, see no use in one.

Like I said above, I have a TI-34II that I use, but I liked the TI-86 I used in school, and was hoping to find a knock off for cheap.

> honestly hate using the computer as a calculator
But it's far easier to work with than a graphing calculator when you actually do any graphing. Or even if you do just enough basic calculations.

Helps that the usual command and programming languages aren't a fairly extreme combination of backwards and crazy like they are on most calculators. Helps that you have more display space. Helps that you can show potential issues to others more easily. And more.

Sage, Jupyter, Zeppelin, Wolfram Alpha and some more are pretty cool and popular. You can generally either install them locally or run these off hosted websites (will be something like https://try.jupyter.org/).

> don't have a smartphone, see no use in one
You see no use in a portable computer with GPS, internet access, music player, camera, good calculator and so on? Uh, okay.
>>
>>58743551
There are ROMS - easy to find out.

Whether you want to buy x in edition y is kinda your decision. It's a decent budget phone, 2GB or 3GB edition both.

Eh? Don't send your GPS data to others and you're fine. You don't even need to have the GPS enabled.

Car number plates and phone signals (those of the phone itself) can be kinda easily tracked though.
>i own a laptop
That would work. Better than an usually ridiculously stupid graphing calculator.
> i own a dedicated one because i like listening to music
Any halfway decent smartphone can do that extremely well.
> i own one that dont make things look like a blurry messs
Not gonna be of much use if you left it at home (if you always take it with you, then I guess you might have a point...)

Either way, phones go up to this these days. Far from a blurry mess:

The upper end of Chinkphones often features the same Sony imaging sensors, though usually they're not first to get supplied.

I found Windows+Android Intel based HTPC (Z8300 and so on with 2-4GB RAM).

I'm positive that this could work out on a combination tablet too, and I think they sell a bunch of these for under $200.

oh, If i'm actually graphing or doing complex math hell yea would rather use a computer, but if i'm just doing a bunch of rapid 16((((56134x321)3456)34)24) kind of calculations, I find it FAR easier to just gab a stand alone calculator.

as for smartphone, its a phone, a shitty computer, a potentially ok gps, a shitty music player, a fuckin horrible camera, and a buttonless calculator.

Look, I have next to no need for a gps
I would never pay for portable data so internet is out... not getting rammed in the ass for data, I have an mp3 player and much prefer to keep media and potentially saving my fucking life critical things separate. As for camera, I never seen a use other than a quick snap shot, I have a dslr that will take a good picture of anything I really give a shit about. and as for calculator, I like buttons, i fucking hate using a touch screen to type or almost anything really.

but I digress, my main reason for a graphing calculator is to see prior calculations, on the screen while I input new ones. If I had a real need for a graphing calculator I would buy one, this is more of a 'I wonder if there is a chinese knock off for cheap' kind of deal, an upgrade without paying upgrade prices.

>as for smartphone, its a phone, a shitty computer, a potentially ok gps, a shitty music player, a fuckin horrible camera, and a buttonless calculator
Actually, it's a pretty damn nice computer, a great GPS, about the best possible music player, *can* have a good camera, and of course it has buttons.

> but if i'm just doing a bunch of rapid 16((((56134x321)3456)34)24) kind of calculations, I find it FAR easier to just gab a stand alone calculator
I don't. There is nothing making this easier on a calculator than on a smartphone with an actually bigger display and better editing capabilities.

Also the solvers run faster and what not.

> my main reason for a graphing calculator is to see prior calculations, on the screen while I input new ones.
That's another reason for a smartphone. Most of the not bigger-than-game-console graphing calculators have shit tiny screens that can show like 3 lines with like 25 symbols, and the interaction with prior lines is quite annoying.

But if you want the ancient shit like that, buy a Casio for like $20 locally. It's even almost better than a Ti or Hp in terms of usability.

China probably never will develop archaic machines like this - the general population started late, but they started with decent smartphones.

I want one for high quality recording and gaymen with the boys. Explain phantom power and how I could get this thing to work. Could I just use this on my PC onboard audio? Do I need a sound card? A separate phantom power device? Can I use a USB adapter? I'm an I.T. guy but I know fuck all about audio
>>
>>58744737
I handed mine off to family after I was done using it for uni. It was one of the white graphing ones:
https://www.amazon.com/casio-graphing/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Acasio%20graphing

From how you put it before I think you might even be fine with that CFX-9850GC for $13.5 used - or just grab the most popular one for $25 used.

Back then I also saw predecessor models of what I had and even these would have been okay, so I figure it's not a big risk either way.
>>
>>58744811
thankyou, will be looking into that
>>
>>58744747
Phantom power is the 48V-on-ancient-plug design that audio equipment like this uses.

Computers generally don't have the required connectors directly, you need something separate.

What I use is a Behringer Xenyx USB mixer - shows up as USB sound card on your PC.

PS: Another way is to use some such thing:
https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-1-Channel-Microphone-Condenser-Recording/dp/B014H8AWGC (oddly cheaper than on ali despite being neewer).

You can then do XLR -> 3.5mm on the other end and use the signal.

You can add NFC to a Bluttooth device by buying a ~30c NFC tag sticker and using an Android phone to program it with the address of the Bluetooth device
