A:

In other words, do generators cache variables, or will Python slice `sequence` every time?

Thin wrapper basically means that you take the functions from win32 api and then create your own versions of them. These versions have no logic behind them, they just pass everything to the API underneath.

Some pseudocode of what it would look like:
func display_text(String text) {
win32api.display_text(text);
}

The idea here is that you can replace the win32api calls with f.ex. linux equivalents without having to rewrite your whole program.

Hey guys quick question.

I got an graphics card that won't work for my computer(there is no video) But does that mean it's broke or it just won't work for my computer? My computer is pretty old and the Card pretty new.

When I tried to run it I did hear sound coming from the fans. Would there still be something wrong?

From last thread.
How would you answer the following question about latency and bandwidth?
Distance was the factor with latency, but I couldn't find a way of reasoning as to how bandwidth could be bottlenecked/reduced.

"An analyst at a company in London wants to examine the company's trading record over th elast year to see if they could have made even more money with a different strategy. For reasons, all their client records are held in a data centre at the head offices in the Cayman Islands. The company does a lot of trading, and there are terabytes of data. But the analysis will owrk by looking at some tens of million of randomly chosen trades. Unfortunately those trades will depend on the ones that have been looked at previously and can't be picked or predicted in advance. The analyst has various possible strategies for her computation. Her boss wants the results tomorrow morning. The analyst's options are:
-Download the data from the Cayman islands to London to form a local dataset
-Carry out the computation on the big compute servers in London and download ony those trades needed from the Cayman islands as and when they are needed
-So all the computation remotely in the Cayman islands
Analyse these in terms of bandwidth and latency of the data link to the cayman island which you can take to be relatively high latency and low bandwidth

I recently upgraded my CPU along with Mobo and RAM .
>i5-6600
>Gigabyte z170-hd3p
>Crucial CT8G4DFD8213 ddr4 8GB 2133Mhrtz
pcpartpicker said no problems.
power calculator said 430 peak wattage and i have 650 Watt PSU from corsair
Amperage is also way over the necessary requirements.

But, a small time after booting up Win10, it gives me BSOD. Installing stuff doesn't work most of the time in normal mode.
I thought it was a broken mobo until i did memtest today in safe mode.
Ran five instances for a few hours and found hundreds of errors, always the same one:
>Memory error detected! Copying between "hexadecimal1" and "hexadecimal2" did not result in accurate copy.
>MemTest has detected that your computer cannot accurately store data in RAM. You need to fix this.

after i tried clicking them away, they just kept piling up until system crashed again.
In the handbook of the Mobo there is no instructon for installing a single dimm, so i think the problem lies within a broken RAM module, which also is not on the Preferred Vendor List.
Only the CT8G4DFD8213.C16FAR1 is on the list and i think they are different.

My question:
Is there a way i can surely tell it is not the Mobos or the SSDs fault ?
I don't want to spend a hundred euros on replacement RAM, just to end up with the system not working anyway.

CTRL+SHIFT+T reopens closed tabs on both chrome and firefox.
I've been using chrome and am now gonna use Firefox (because Chromium sux on Linux).
But I noticed that undo closed tab doesn't reopen the last session. In chrome/chromium if I had closed the entire session in one go and I hit ctrl+shift+T when I restart I get a window with all the tabs I closed. On firefox it does nothing.

Have anyone dealt with this?
>>58678036
>Unfortunately those trades will depend on the ones that have been looked at previously and can't be picked or predicted in advance.
Basically the latency implies there's a bandwidth bottleneck. You process the data faster than you can request and recieve. Same thing happens often in software on your computer. Reading main memory (or worse yet, a harddrive) is slow so your computer sits around waiting for the data. If the latency was less the throughput would be higher.

My OpenBSD install isn't working with my AMD graphics card. Why? And how do I fix this?

When booting into it, the runthrough of text comes through, but then the screen goes black after a certain point.

I have another Nvidia graphics card that I can use with it, but my computer refuses to boot with two cards in at the same time for some reason, and I really don't want to have to switch out cards each time I want to boot into it.

>>
>>58678139
It fits perfectly but it only has 1 8pin slot.
>>
>>58678090
No not unless you have spare replacement ram laying around.
Computer hardware is so sensitive now that you can't really do a visual inspection to find errors and there's no way the comptuer could tell if the bus is broken or the memory itself.

Assuming the old motherboard is still around and they have compatible memory types you could try the new ram in the old motherboard.

But you wouldn't really be spending money on the new ram right? This was DOA clearly. Contact the seller?

Can anyone recommend me a budget microphone that I can have sitting at my desk (1 meter distance) for Skype calls and Teamspeak?

I used to have a clip-on microphone on my headphones.
Now I often listen over speakers and clip-ons are no longer an option.

I own a BM800 but I only use it for recording, it's too bulky just for Skype calls.

Thanks
>>
>>58678104
I realize for someone who didn't see the connection already this explanation might not be as good as I thought.

If you have 0 latency you can:
RequestData->ProcessData->RequestData without the throughput being affected at all because the data is there the moment you want it.
If you have say 100ms latency you can:
RequestData->wait 100ms doing nothing because you have no data to process yet->start processing data->When you've figured out you need more data you request it->process data while it's in transit
If your data arrives before you're done computing everything is dandy. If it isn't you're gonna have to wait some portion of those 100ms.

And assuming our application is a really dumb single threaded application which doesn't even ask the OS to buffer some information for it it might take the entire 100ms penalty by requesting data only when it's done processing.

But all of this is presuming we're doing a general analisys of this. It would be very relevant to your task if you had just learned some meme method for analysing bottlenecks in networks. If this is just a general question. Well I'm terrible at writing reports so I can't help you beyond this.

It's worht considering that maybe they're looking for you to mention:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TCP_tuning#Window_size
The latency may affect the growth of the TCP window.
But this is a tuning problem. You can avoid it.

Same thing with Overwatch, it will run but as soon as the models start to load, it shuts down. I used Cinebench and while the CPU test goes fine, the GPU test makes the computer shut down. I've been searching around and it seems this is a PSU issue. I kinda can see it being the case since I'm using a generic Raidmax 500W that came with the case. Putlocker just hosts links to the servers who are usually overseas in designated shitting countries or servers with a IPS that doesn't give a shit.

It's quite literally the piratebay of streaming. And it is the most beautiful and grand thing ever.

>>
>>58680167
Its fairly straightforward, though probably only a couple of people have bothered. More popular your router is the more likely. Just by visiting a webpage it can be done.

Can be done via javascript/clickjacking: many routers don't enforce CORS, use default login / have hardcoded logins, have many shell injection vulns.

So in JS you basicly, XHT request default gateway ips : e.g. 192.168.0.1, 10.0.01, etc
then throw default logins at them, then exploit, or turn on WAN (internet facing) admin logins.
Finally you upload custom firmware, or just a binary and run.
>>
On Manjaro, I needed to open a PDF that can only be viewed in Adobe Reader. I tried different PDF viewers, but they all gave the same message saying it requires Adobe Reader 8 or higher to view. I did some research and learned that I need to install acroread through yaourt. I did so and the file opened properly.

As I am reading the document, after 15 seconds, Adobe Reader automatically closes. At first, I thought I accidentally closed it out, but it's apparently a consistent occurrence and I can't stop it. I don't know why it's doing it since it's the only program running.

What do I do?

Hey guys I need some help with something. So I need to go through the registry and delete every key that has a value that is a path containing the string "Whatever". Any idea how? Ive made a batch script but instead of it finding entries where the data contains the Whatever, it only finds keys with the name Whatever.

If it helps I can post my batch file code. Id really appreciate a push in the right direction.

hey brahs

I'm in college. Myself and my roommate are technology/programming majors. We want to make a small social media application to git gud, but we know pretty much nothing about """"webdev"""", only programming (Java, C(++))

How do i even begin with this? The client-side application is the easy part. But how do I "host a server", whatever that even means? I just want my app/client to press the "post" button on their shitty little phone, and the text of their post is sent to my server and saved to a file like an RSS feed, which can then be retrieved by the application to view it.
>>
>>58680395
No idea, but just search for an online .webm converter using google and convert your webm to a webm, should work then.
>>
>>58680709
I think it's not considered a color if you can't see it. There's colors you can see that sort of don't exist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impossible_color
>>
>>58680761
first off it seems "Keys" are the folder like things in the registry
in each 'folder' there's key-value pairs with the 'key' as "Value" and the 'value' being 'Data'

if you're calling a program in the batch file it probably follows some arguments with something like that

you should post your batch file htough
>>
>>58680848
That's subjective though. The number of colors you can see is directly proportional to the number of eye receptor types you have. There's an exponential increase for every added type

I'm looking for some recommendations for a x86 (either 32 or 64 bits) Linux distro:

In order of importance, I need:

1: An installation process that's Motherfucking Rock Solid.
2: Just Works™ when installed into a VMware guest VM.
3: Just about the smallest footprint on disk as possible. So no desktop, obviously, but it needs a network stack. Something like a "core" or "minimal" or "server" type of spin, but more aggressively trimmed down than usual.

...and then of lesser importance:

4: A pretty nice repository, like a Debian or RedHat, with a popular package manager.

It also needs to be straightforward to install. This isn't an educational project for me to learn all about compiling from source code and configuring every little detail -- my time is fairly valuable, and I'll move on quickly if the install gets too complicated. For example, I just wasted 20 minutes of my time with Voyage Linux -- I went through a bunch of command-line stuff where the instructions didn't quite match what I was seeing on the screen -- and then the first boot didn't get past grub. I can't have my time wasted with that shit. Hence, number 1 above.

They would need some kind of motivation for doing it. Bundling OpenCandy or a bitcoin miner or some shit with your installer is much easier if all you want to do is make money off people who just click "next" when installing their software. Outright requiring people to use your custom installer or compile the program yourself from source is also common. Embedding some kind of secret backdoor into the public version that lets you use a VNC viewer to spy on people or something is NSA tier shit that most people simply wouldn't bother with because they don't have to. The most you'll see is an installer with bundled malware that uploads your stored browser passwords or installs ransomware.

Usb dongles are fine. For 5ghz you're looking for a network adapter that says a/b/g/n, "a" being the important part. If you happen to have an AC router you could get an AC card, but I really wouldn't worry about it.

Sadly the HDD got damaged, im looking to get a SSD for it.

Would an ADATA SP550 work good enough for it or should i get something better?
Im looking for a cheap SSD, i only use this laptop for office and light web browsing anyway.

The only reason i still use this is because it weights less than 1Kg.

Roughly double the performance for nearly double the price. so similar value there. Or if you also consider the PSU + whatever to PCIe adapter/cable setup you're getting, around 50% more price so 970 would be better value there.

how do I get WINE to play sound from MIDI using applications properly

the guide on winehq seems badly out of date and extremely unhelpful

using TiMidity++ if it matters

here's where I am on winehq's checklist

=============================

- aconnect -o lists relevant entries.

it listed this
client 14: 'Midi Through' [type=kernel]
0 'Midi Through Port-0'
client 128: 'TiMidity' [type=user]
0 'TiMidity port 0 '
1 'TiMidity port 1 '
2 'TiMidity port 2 '
3 'TiMidity port 3 '

- aplaymidi -pX:Y file.mid works -- or whatever is equivalent in your OS.

worked fine

- winecfg's audio tab lists these same entries (in Linux, ideally with both ALSA and OSS, although you can use only one inside one Wine session)

No idea what it's talking about

- You configured the registry for the MIDI mapper in case the topmost device in winecfg's list is not one known working.

I ran regedit on this file that was saved as an .ini

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\MIDIMap]
"CurrentInstrument"="#1"

- You tested basic MIDI playing ability using the interactive MCI shell or you know that MIDI performs well with another application in Wine on your system.

it's explanation as how to use the mcishell was too vague for me to figure it out.

I bought one of those small laptops with fixed 32gb eMMC disk space (Lenovo N22). I love that small motherfucker and I'm obviously planning to get a 32gb-64gb SD card to store files and software.

A few questions.
1) What's the best brand for a microSD card that I will be using a lot?
2) Should I get a sd card (32-64), a usb3 pendrive (32-128) or a usb3 hdd (250-500)?
3) Is it safe to put my software there? Is Windows 10 going to work properly if I take the device away?

Thanks. Have cute teeth liberal retarded girl.

https://www.randomlists.com/random-words

Or be less pretentious and use localhost or the name/version of your distro.
>>
>>58684657
Not necessarily files I access a lot. For example I have a thousand books which usually come in a folder with exercise files, but I forget where some are just amid all of the titles. I don't want to move everything to different folders for different categories because often times topics overlap and I'd need duplicates. I'd rather there were a GUI for navigating different folders of topics, which can contain shortcuts that are also present in other folders, to the particular files.

USB can handle more writes than a SD card.

Depends on the laptop but expect the same from both.
In recent ones both should be as fast.

USB 3.0 will be way faster (While you dont buy a shitty USB with lame write speeds) because USBs go to 80-90MB/s tops with average random write speeds.

While good quality USBs will work at 110-140.MB/s both read and write speeds.
Again Samsung is a good option for this.
That Sandisk Mini USB too but heats a lot and enough to burn you at touch.

All i9 and i10 are 32 bits because technically as they use TurboThreading technology the OS uses them in 32*2/2-2 which is basically 30 bits but as the processor usually operates with bits 0 and 1 it's reserved space and it's added. tl;dr yes, all of them are cpus.

My recommendation: Use tags in filenames and just search for them with something like Voidtools Everything. Whenever you save a PDF or an ebook or something, just save it to your desktop or downloads folder or wherever, and change the name to something like BOOKS-FICTION-pbsd71e(1).pdf. Whenever you want to search for fictional books, just search
BOOKS-FICTION
and it brings up everything under those two labels. If you want to list multiple categories, just list both
BOOKS-FICTION
and
BOOKS-PROGRAMMING
at the same time with a regex. If you want everything that's a book, search BOOKS.

Not sure if you're doing this on a phone or a laptop or something, your results may vary.

You need to send video through a different app. Native text messaging was not made to send huge files from one phone to another. Even iPhones don't do that, they have their own app that sends video to video through their own server.

You need to get the iPhone user to use Google Hangouts or similar app to directly send videos, or just upload to Youtube privately send the link, or Google Photos link, or something similar.

Back of the envelope, thanks to ec2instances dot info/?selected=t2.micro

power consumption for a home PC:
~50w * 24h * 365d * .12c/kwh = ~$50 running cost

You're better off asking in the /dpt/ though.

It kinda looks like my Naga 2014 edition mmo mouse except the left finger ledge isn't there. I don't recommend buying a Naga if you are too lazy to open it up and fix it after 2 years if scroll wheel doesn't work properly or if buttons are hard to push. I can fix it easily but most hamfisted people can't be bothered. Also Razer is shit brand by /g/ popularity.

Yeah, that'll work. It has "AC" which is what they chose to follow "N" with. AC is exclusively on the 5ghz band, unlike N which can be on either.

What the hell. You can't just make Haruhi thick, it doesn't work. She's too high energy to get chunky and is skinny in canon.

If you want to draw in extra curves do it to Mikuru.
