>s8
>There will be two Galaxy S8 sizes, as rumored before. The smaller model will have a 5.8-inch screen, the larger a 6.2-inch display, both of the dual-curved Super AMOLED variety, and both with an unusual 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Thus Samsung too is ditching the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, but it's made the S8's panel even more elongated than LG for the G6 (which has 18:9 ratio). The S8's display will be pressure sensitive (think 3D Touch), but strangely only in its lower part.

>The small S8 will have a 3,000 mAh battery, the bigger model getting a 3,500 mAh cell. That's not a lot, considering the huge screens here, so it helps that no matter where you buy an S8 from, it will sport a chipset built on a 10nm process - be that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 or Samsung's next Exynos. Both phones should come with an 11% increase in performance compared to the S7, 23% faster graphics, but at the same time 20% more energy efficiency. So hopefully that will translate into good battery life, even with the aforementioned capacities.

>5.8 inch 3000mah
>6.2 inch 3500mah

wat, what's up with those ridiculous sizes and the small batteries? No way that this is real.

Have to agree with >>58668693 on this. If these rumours are correct then I'm either buying an s7 when the price drops after the s8 launch or I'm finding something else that's waterproof and has an OLED screen.

Hey /g a question.
I'm actually using a Samsung S4 i9505, cyanogen.
I'm still OK with it but in case of hardware failure, what is a worthy replacement not coming from Samsung and able to get CM, maybe not if the base OS is not a shit? I was thinking LG G4 but I don't know.

So is there anything I should be particularly wary of when buying a used phone? What problems are there that you can't immediately spot with naked eye?
Also, does performance go down over the phone's usage period? So like, will a used one be running slower than a new one? Or is that all a matter of bloating the OS that can be fixed with a factory reset?

I'm looking to buy a used Z3/Z3 Compact

Anyone have a Samsung Galaxy S6?

My gf and my friend have one. Together they have broken 7 of my micro USB cords while charging their phones. Anytime they come over and use my cords, after weeks of regular use the cords will no longer click into place and stop charging. If I plug them into anything they'll just slide out.

We know it's the S6s fault because their phones have also broke their own individual 3rd party cords, while my cords I don't let them use haven't broken for years.

Honorbuy ship from with the EU, cost inc. delivery: €195
Oppomart ship from China, claim they can sneak past customs/will pay customs fees if caught, cost inc. delivery: €168

>>

I just got a G4 plus. Seems like great value for the money to me, but I went from a Nexus 5 so it's not like I've compared it to the current high-end phones.

Decent camera. SD card slot, comes with Android M but official OTA updates to Nougat are being rolled out worldwide ATM. I couldn't wait so I flashed the official update to Nougat manually and everything works great.

OMG. who use samsumg until now? samsung galaxy are comfirmed bomb. They even try to hide. Samsung is immoral company.
>>
>>58675647
Sure. Check some reviews and stuff too before you decide.

I haven't tried any games on it either, so if graphics performance is important to you you should research that.

That said I'm happy with it. Impressively good for the price.
>>
>>58675775
How's the camera? The only reason to own a plus is the camera. The finger print scanner is a meme
>>
>>58675329
>>58675351
The Redmi Note 4 SD edition has really limited LTE bands (bands 3(1800), 5(850), 40(2300)), you won't get LTE pretty much anywhere outside India
>>
>>58675802
The camera is decent. No image stabilisation.

The fingerprint scanner is what I ended up liking the most about it. My old Nexus 5 didn't have one and I never knew what they were like to use. I now have file-based encryption turned on with a long password that's required after every reboot. After that I can just unlock and lock the phone with my finger. Turned it on for Keepass2android too which made accessing my password store less of a hassle.

Finally, I love the placement of the fingerprint reader, having it on the back always seemed strange to me.

Honestly I don't even know how much I care about a removable battery, if /spg/ can convince me it doesn't really matter I will gladly buy either of those four (pls tell which one is better in that case), but it just feels very weird and alien, since I haven't kept up with this industry for years.
>>
>>58678529
Desktop mode sounds interesting
>>
>>58678533
I know what you mean bro. I've been trying to replace my GS4 Mini (Trump rest its soul) and I can find nothing that's reasonably sized, reasonably powerful and with both a removable battery and an SD card slot. I settled on a Redmi 4 Prime in the end, though it's a fair bit bigger than I'd like. I'll have to trust its 4100 mAh battery.
>>
>>58678276
can't believe stock android is now a selling point for a $700 phone
>>
>>58678624
I mean, fuck, my last phone was an Xperia J, which died in water two weeks ago.
That's 480p, 512MB of RAM and a single-core 1GHz processor.
Literally anything will be better, but I still don't really want to make an uneducated purchase.
>>
>>58678533
phones with any kind of rapid charging give you HOURS of use in the time it takes for you to take a shit

a 15 minute top up before you leave the office or buying a power bank should be enough for anyone
>>
>>58678679
The thing that makes me worried about non-removable batteries isn't actually the battery life, I've never been the one to carry around spare batteries. It's the fear of battery failure or swelling. I don't know, I'm paranoid or something.

To add to the four I mentioned, I also considered a used Xperia Z3 or a new LG X Power, both of them costing around the same as the ones above.

Why do people even bothering looking at the pixel, it's a piece of shit with massive bezels?

Let's not forget the Nexus 4, 5, 5X, 6, and 6P were all flawed shit hardware too.

Why do you people insist on ignoring everything else because "muh updates" that never actually amount to anything?
>>
if I root my Moto X Play will I still be able to update normally with the stock OS? Or not at all. Or I will but every time I do I have to root it again? Sorry dudes, no experience with this stuff and I literally just want to root it to enable the notification LED, that's all I want.
>>
>>58679938
No one recommends the pixel though? Everytime someone asks about it we mention the faulty speakers, camera lens flare and being even more overpriced than an iFag phone despite android phones having no resale value no matter the specs.

You want stock android, you buy a motorola or a chinkphone and constantly flash the newest AOSP builds on it, updates are a meme since they never last more than 2 years.

The Nextbit Robin is currently on sale for $159 via Walmart.

Got me a Moto Z Force a month ago.

>Pros
Battery life is bretty gud
Magnetic backplate wont accidently come off your phone unless you drop it.
Motomods are pretty fucking convenient (if you actually use them)
Bout as stock as it gets for a Verizon branded phone
The turbocharge/quickcharge shit is really convenient.

>Cons
Cant charge and play music cause no aux meme.
Came with AUX -> USB-C adaptor, but the cable between both ends is so thin it would make chinese headphones blush. (hasnt broken but it seems inevitable)
Something about the design causes it to be slippery as fuck in your hands, even with a textured backplate.

Side note: Does anyone know of an adaptor that would let me play music through AUX while charging through USB-C? They have a motomod for the car that does this, but its $65 and doesnt even come with the fucking charger or really any of the cables so its shit.

Moto G4 Play has all that except the CPU is bit on the weak side. Perfectly fine for basic phone stuff but will lag on the heavier games. A removable battery is kind of a rare feature in new phones so your options are limited.

Another option is to get a used Galaxy S5. Still a great phone, especially with a custom ROM, and more powerful than most of the current budget phones.

The regular OP3 has no problems besides the shitty pentile screen (for example some 720p LCD phones from 2012 have better screens despite lower ppi and resolution) with a faint yellow tint, the meh battery and no SD slot, it's still pretty solid for its price, at this rate it's gonna be another 5 years before something truly better comes out.

The OP3T fixed almost everything (still no SD but you can get one with an absurd 128GB ROM) however it also introduced touchscreen latency although this is confirmed to be a software bug, either unlock and flash a rom+kernel or update to nougat, this official update also has its share of problems though: worse wifi reception and battery bugs (incorrectly displaying it's still at 30% despite being at 1%, not charging past 80% sometimes etc).

What's the difference between the redmi 4 and the redmi 4 prime?
As far as I can tell it's
>screen resolution
>SoC
>Ram

Is the camera the same? Battery life? Usability?

Just search "xda" + your phone model (whatever generation Moto G it is), they'll have a guide there.

Basically you'll first need to unlock the bootloader with your PC using adb / fastboot and then flash a custom recovery (TWRP). After that you just boot to the custom recovery, do a wipe and flash the custom ROM (and optionally root + xposed)

Battery life is probably a bit better on the prime as the SD625 is more power efficient than the SD430. Camera is exactly the same.

>S8
>Glass front and back
>Rounded edges

Is it even possible to make a phone more fragile? I doubt they can make the frame in glass too.

Even Apple knows better than to make the back in glass. Except the camera lens sticking out is a major reduction on that point.

Thank you.

Is 2GB on miui enough for snapchat, instagram, facebook, and just general social media? It's for my sister...

>literally no reason to upgrade

>still get excited about new phones and want to get a new one

I guess when they stop updating it I'll have a valid reason to update
>>
Wht do you guys think of Meizu M5?
Worth waiting for if I need a new phone in that price range?
>>
>>58688214
is the battery as bad as they say? I was thinking of getting one.
>>
>>58688214
I'll probably upgrade when my S5 breaks. Until then I see no reason to.

I'm a light user and it gets me through about 2 days before I need to charge.

Heavy users can choke it in a single day though, for me its good enough

Xperia Z6 when.

I love my Xperia Z5 Premium don't get me wrong but
>Snapdragon Snapdragon 810

Make the battery not shit as well and I'll buy it day 1.
>>
>>58686248
It does but it's not terrible though.

It happens when I try to record 4K video and will stop the recording so it can cool down. It also happens when I play games like Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and Bards Tale.

I do live in a cooler environment now though and it's heating issues isn't as noticeable now then when I used to live in California so results may vary.

^ this, it sucked that there wasn't a stable marshmallow rom for the m7 when I still used one, but the stable gpu rom by santod was doing the optimized stock rom that updated the security patch for a good while kept prolonging an upgrade.
