Yeah, my bad, that came out like word salad. I just assumed the spectral was a v0, which on newer versions of LAME, has the -Y switch turned off by default. The Y switch sort of acts like a lowpass filter in a sense, filtering out the upper frequencies. Newer versions of LAME have this turned off for v0 - v2, which allows the frequencies to extend the full spectrum.

320 is odd though, but I don't have enough experience on this to comment. I'd post this in the transcode thread on PTH. Those guys actually know what they're talking about.
