/g/ I have a tesla. specifically, an M2090. What should I do with it? BOINC? Pyrit? what's fun to do with this (I basically own it accidentally).
I'm not even gonna lie, it's probably stolen. but not actually by me; I traded for it (not gonna list the trade because it was so retarded). So given that I (at least for now) have a tesla, what should I do with it?
ok fine. I traded my HP 6410p (I think that was the model?) old-ass laptop with Windows 7 and upgraded RAM on it for this thing.
Monetarily the trade was hugely in my favor, but from the standpoint of actually using what I got out of the trade, yeah... not so much. Still, it's neat to look at and a worthwhile trade for me since didn't even use that laptop anymore.
so what should I do with it, though? should I just sell it, or isn't there anything fun I can do with it?
you mean 345$
and thats retail online shop
since literally nobody is buying this shit on ebay i cant tell you a realistic value for it
40$ maybe 50$??
nobody has sold one of those in over 6 months, so there is no completed auction history for it on ebay
that thing is garbage
>push button on the key fob
Yeah, it's a real mystery
Seriously though, plug into SETI or help calculate pi or some shit you dirty thief nerd
You're both autistic.
You realize YOU LOST OUT on the trade right????
Its basically a GTX 480 with slightly higher core count and more memory... but you cant even use it like a GTX 480 and that reduces it value heavily since then your only option is data-center use.... and theyve all moved on.
? wow i just learned something today after 30 years on working on pc's.
I-If i was american this wouold be on my buy now list
>fuck that's cheap.
tell me more anon.
>I traded for it (not gonna list the trade because it was so retarded).
> I traded my HP 6410p.
So you traded a laptop worth BARE minimum $200 (more like ~$250-300) for a 5 year old GPU compute card thats worth less than $94?
You're right, it was a stupid trade and you should have kept your mouth shut.
i never even checked on ebay
i just know that thing is totally worthless
but thanks for doing all the leg work for me
actually, i called it right
the nonbullshit price for that thing actually is 40$
thats the most you would get in a real auction with no reserve
if anything at all
Google HP 6410p and see the results, unless you give us actual specs I can only assume what google shows me.
If it was only a centrino duo then id say thats about an equal trade.
yeah, you would have to set the price at $40
and it would be one of those single bid auctions where the buyer knows there is no competition and is not concerned with it
and there is only like a 30% chance of this happening.
kek, nvidia telsa is not even worth an 8 year old laptop
that is fucking sad
>Nah it's only worth like 500 now but yeah I may sell it
OP, dont ever do any sort of trades or "deals" again with out consulting proper sources like eBay, Google, or other reputable market places.
Ive convinced more than one idiot that they were getting an "excellent" deal like you thought.
>searching for extra terrestrials is boring
im actually laughing my ass off how a product which was over a thousand dollars not so long ago is literally not worth anything
the process of finding this out has been genuine and hilarious
what the fuck have you been smoking?
are you high?
hold on faggot
you might be able to pass optimus through another display
all cards fermi and beyond are capable of this
you need any other display, like on board gpu or anything
then you goto the nvidia control panel and select the tesla card to render whatever game or app you wish
this should render the game with tesla and output the video through intel HD or whatever you are using
this MIGHT be possible
either with the native drivers or using a driver hack, which is basically just tweeking the desktop drivers install
you're thinking of keppler
but i know fermi is capable of optimus
if you have ever played with an eGPU for laptops, then you should know this
optimus had driver level support on all laptops based on fermi first, then moved onto desktop later. right now its automatically included with basic driver and CP install for all fermi based cards.
but the tesla might be different,
its definitly capable of passing video through to another adapter, but you might have to tweak the desktop driver ini to get it to work
thats what you had to do with desktop fermi's before optimus was available for desktop gpu's
.GTX480 with more ram
yeah i remeber those got to 85C all the time super hot for soemthing that is passively cooled
but then again in its day coolers where really bad.
no that anon but whoa man i'm no programer what are you talking about.
I'm a hardware engineer in some soft ware guru how does this hlep connect the tesla to a screen?
I get it that its a netwark video card but honestly my computer lessons never said anything about how this GPU works
