>Having less than 16GB of RAM in your primary computer
RAMlets, when will they ever learn?
>16gb of ram in a single channel makes you a dumbfuck
L M A O
look at this fuckin idiot
what if you wanted to add more sticks to bring it up to 64gb (and that isn't a meme, there are plenty of things that could make use of that e.g. scientific analysis software)? if you had 16gb in a 4x4 configuration you'd be fucked.
How much does CL matter when picking RAM?
I know that the smaller the number the faster it is, but is it fast enough to matter much?
>tfw you bought another 8GB of DDR3 just before the prices jumped
Oh, yes, these classic arguments. Scientists were never able to use their "scientific analysis software" before, were they? No science was done before we had, at least, an arbitrary amount of RAM, the size of which is decided upon by some autist on /g/.
Let me guess, you also do a lot of "video rendering" and "3D modelling".
>that feel when you spend unnecessary money on stupid bs so you can feel good about yourself
>that feel when you running vms means nothing, it's less substantial than a dick measuring contest
>Buying xXx Tacticool Gaymer RAM
>Not just buying the cheapest Kingston sticks
>Have 8 gigs of RAM for years
>see shitposts like this every day
>Guitar amp/effects emulation
Not once ever been over 6.5 gigs of memory usage.
>Upgrade to 16 gigs of memory because on sale
>Do all same stuff
>Not once ever over 6.5 gigs memory usage
We get it OP, you use firefox and you shitpost.
>tfw just ordered enough RAM to get to 8gb
Even then it just feels a bit unnecessary. I haven't encounter a single problem with using 4gb. And I do quite a bit of multitasking and media production stuff.
I don't need to run 20 instances of pic related.
I'd love to put GTA or some shit on this and have fun with 5 second load speeds. Just seems kinda expensive atm...
Disposable storage sounds cool in the regard that simply unplugging it kills all the data on the disk haha
fell for the 16 GB meme:
Kingston 16GB KIT DDR3 2400MHz CL11 HyperX Savage
>Has 4GB on PC
>Finds the only 4GBx2 RAM is on ebay
Help me. I'm too poor to get scammed.
Is there really a DDR2 PC2-6400 240-pin that has 4GB RAM?
My motherboard is a ASRock G31M-GS btw
Nigga are you serious? DDR3 prices soared after 2012, some incident with a production plant or something, I live in the UK and the price for a standard 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 kit doubled in the space of a month or so.
It doesn't matter kiddio.
16GiB is just cheap with DDR3 and DDR4 but it is only useful if you intended on using professional-tier workloads.
4GiB is still good enough for majority of mainstream applications out there.
> implying I have room for gamer ram heatspreaders
Put 2 8GB or 16GB in the outer slots.
Pic of your rig?
I'm using 2x4GB 2400MHz DDR3 right now and only have 2 slots.
Got the message that I was out of memory yesterday again.
Are RAMdisks a proper thing yet? Read about it in a techmag years ago and have seen it pop up in conversation from time to time.
Googling just turns up the same fucking shitware as always and the same articles filled with buzzwords.
a lot of LGA775 socket motherboards can accept Core2 based XEONs with minor mods. XEONs have more L2 cache (mine has 12MB) and have better silicon (overclocks better).
I just got a 3.16GHz XEON for $25 shipped, and it is easily running at 3.8GHz in my LGA775 system (pic related)
