America still uses magnetic stripes where as the rest of the world has moved on. First world.

New cards have NFC so you don't even need to stick the card in the reader, just pass it over.
And no need to put your PIN for transactions below 20€

You'd be surprised that people here (spain) still uses magnetic band. I go to atm without even card and pay at supermarkets with the phone. Faster than paying in cash.

Major cities have chip cards/terminals

They take forever.

Maybe yours are better; ours are shit

This is absolutely awesome, it takes like 3 seconds to pay for something small like it should
>>
>>52955549
>>52955562

It's only slow in America.

In the rest of the world it's pretty much instant.
I'm suspecting it's a conspiracy from the credit card industry.

Its 2016 and we in the USA are now getting this. Instead now you just stick it in a slot and you have to keep it in until payment is processed rather than swipe and done. How is this a tech achievement? It takes longer than the old way.

The eurofags are just trying to stay relevant by shitposting this tech that they have and we don't. We have this tech now europoors and you are still more irrelevant than ever.

Fucking what?
I'm in europe right now, chip readers are fast, it takes like three seconds. But I'm from brazil, and even there in a third world country we use chip readers and it's also fast.

What retarded shit machines are you idiots using? I bet even central africa countries have better card readers than you.
>>
I just set up an automatic transfer for the spending money I budget for the week to be transferred to my Google Wallet card.

So I can fucking swipe and not waste hours of my life.

and if my information is stolen, I'm only out a few hundred at most. I don't even use my debit card anymore unless I need a cash withdrawal.
>>
>>52955780
>How is this a tech achievement?

It's much more secure.

In Europe we had to switch because of gypsies.

Nigga I nearly always pay with my card. Clerk takes it, inserts it, immediately after it ask your PIN, you type it, and that's it. No "are you sure" or other shit. And for small payments like groceries or when you eat at a fast food they just swipe it once. Literally takes 3 seconds.

Amazon isn't exactly cheap to begin with.

They are convenient though. 2 day shipping is the best.
>>
>>52955784
I bet the banks and sellers just cheaped the fuck out on it, not that the technology's shit

NFC payments are better anyways
>>
>>52955780
Has anyone seen how most stores aren't even supporting it? They have the new machines but when you try to use it they say it doesn't work.

lmfao they upgraded ours like a couple years ago you would stick it in, ask how the cashiers day is going, then eventually type it in.
now, it basically asks for my pin before i even reach for my wallet.
makes being awkward in public less awkward.
>>
>>52955862
I don't know what old ass technology you canucks use. In four countries I used my card in Yurop I didn't have the problems you and other north americans told me. The payment is fast and easy.

1 day is standard here.

At one shop I can order at 23:59 at night and have it in my home at 10:00 the next morning.

The NFC readers at the nearby Walgreens don't work.

Smaller stores don't have NFC readers, period.

>>
>>52954989
In straya in the city we use NFC but I hate using it because I don't trust it. I use the chip insert card thing. And I miss swiping the card but swiping the card makes the card all flaky and scratched.
>>
>>52954989

Well, you see, it's all about legacy support.

I hear Americans also use coins and paper money like some steampunk nerd or gypsy. Do Americans only use cards for online shopping? Many don't even have a pin on their cards.

You don't really find street girls though, it's usually just men who live on the streets. Even in the odd occasion that you do find girls, they aren't really fuckable ones...
But I hear that if you know the right people and where to look, you do find underage prostitutes.

cashiers get pissed when you pay in change.

walgreens is cancer. was trying to do $20 cashback to buy a bag of marijuana one day and accidentally donated it to some charity. I should have known since the cash options had pink buttons. but seriously that's a low blow. The cvs beeps really loud if I try to swipe and the babe is like "you need to use the chip!"
>>
>>52956039
>I hate using it because I don't trust it.

The security risk is just as big when you don't use it.

Only disabling it makes it safe.

>>52956128
>not buying fresh groceries every day.

NFC takes about half a second. EMV takes about 3s.

America, you got second-hand, decade-old, (vulnerable) EMV readers, probably as part of a deliberate conspiracy by the credit card companies. It is reasonable for you to be pissed, but it's not because chip and PIN is shite, it's because the readers you're using are third-world tier.

Upgrading takes money. Stores are run on the jewest of pyramid schemes. We don't upgrade and no one complains.
For some reason all the cards in ads are chip but they really only issue magnetic ones
