>he fell for the tablet meme
What's the point? It's just a laptop with less functionality, worse performance, no keyboard, 1 or no USB ports, etc. etc.
because some people aren't sperglords who spend hours configuring MPC to play their chinese cartoons correctly. Sometimes i just wanna watch Frasier before i go to bed for a half hour and don't give a shit that its 480p and through cheap earbuds.
A tablet is a media consumption device. Less bulk and weight for reading manga, magazines, pdfs, etc. or watch anime, shows, movies, etc. With coming VR headsets and current wireless controllers they are possible to become the next 3DS.
>Why not just use a laptop for that shit?
What part of "less bulk and weight" did you fail to understand. It is far easier to hold a less than one pound tablet in one hand than a three pound or more (a lot more in most cases) laptop.
Why have a keyboard if you're not going to use it much? Reading and watching doesn't use a keyboard. It's easier to use on the go, you can hold in your hand like a book and get the ideal distance from your eyes for reading.
>Are people so lazy these days that holding a tablet is too tiring?
Except you don't have to hold a laptop. It sits on its own. With a tablet you have to hold it, or buy one of those cover meme kickstand things.
Because I like to be able to go from watching TV shows to maybe programming and back and forth. Maybe tablets are only for you 19 year old kids that sit down and marathon TV shows for 6+ hours straight.
>I like to be able to go from watching TV shows to maybe programming and back and forth.
Cool, a tablet is not for you.
>Maybe tablets are only for you 19 year old kids that sit down and marathon TV shows for 6+ hours straight.
>the only thing people ever do is go on the computer
>there are no other hobbies
>people don't have friends
>Except you don't have to hold a laptop. It sits on its own.
If you have a table handy or sitting down or . . . A tablet doesn't care. You hold it in one hand regardless of your position or place.
You're a moron.
>laying in bed
Set laptop on chest or on other side of bed.
>sitting on couch/chair
Set laptop on lap.
If you use a tablet you have to sit there and hold it like a wanker.
>I make over 6 figures
Stop lying to yourself, tabletcuck.
>after I put in my 8 hours for the day.
This idiot. My job is 100% remote. I only work like 4 hours a day. Don't even reply to me, tabletlard.
You just said it. People like comfortable things, and tablets are more comfortable than laptops.
Why stop at laptops anyway?
>he's so fat and lazy he doesn't haul his desktop an 24" screen everywhere he goes
>You're a moron.
Oh what a useful comment. All you are demonstrating is how immature you are.
>laying in bed
Standing in line for the train or bus? How about standing in line at the post office or bank? Or how about laying on your stomach in a tent when camping? Or sitting in coach on an jetliner. Or . . .
There are many situations that do not provide an opportunity to sit or place your laptop down that you could be holding a tablet to consume media with.
The difference is that security guard isn't home while I am, idiot.
Shoo shoo, tabletcuck. Go watch some more YIFY rips on your VLC app through those shitty Chinese speakers.
>Shoo shoo, tabletcuck
Your provide yet another shit post? Perhaps that conclusion that you are immature is accurate. Let's see if you have an immature need to have the last word. I expect you will respond to this post with further pointless shit to which I will respond "it almost hurts to right so often" and you'll respond with yet another shitpost. This will prove you have an immature need to have the last word there is nothing to respond to in my next post as it was already prefaced.
Ultraportable, fanless, thin enough to fit in any carrying bag, has all the software the majority of people use, software easier to manage than desktop operating systems, and is on average substantially more affordable compared to most laptops.
Not everyone needs a ThinkPad with a gazillion legacy ports and optical drives.
I agree, 5.5 inch phones may be expensive, but notable beasts such as the Note 3/4 and that one Sony 5.5 are not bad phones by any regard. Hell, nab an N3 for $250. It might only be a quad core, but the build quality is premium.
Tablet would be nice to have to watch my yify movie rips. It's not like i have a home theater so yify is fine and I'm not autistic enough to notice a difference between yify and actual blueray rips
It's easier to read ebooks, news stories and comics while commuting with a tablet in my hand than with a laptop.
The Surface Pro can be used as a tablet, a laptop replacement with the Type Cover, and a desktop replacement with the Surface Dock, an external keyboard, mouse and an optional external monitor(s). This versatility makes the Surface Pro an invaluable asset.
Because a decent tablet is the same price as 2 textbooks thus saving money over the 4 years in college. Our desks are tiny and cant fit both a netbook and a notepad for notes so i have a tablet to lay on my legs. There fuck you bitch laptop wont work for that or a smartphone
Why the fuck would you bring a laptop OR a tablet to class? All you need is a sheet of paper and pencil to take notes. Can you sit through an another without checking Facebook or playing Incensed Avians?
No you were trying to paint a laptop as an unideal reader because you have to rotate it to properly view a full page. Meanwhile in the real world you can view two pages side by side on a 12" screen and they'd be the same size if not bigger than the books themselves
I use mine for reading, that's what I got it for. I also use it when I'm in bed for 4chins, youtube, and netflix.
It makes me more effective at studying. It allows me carry around literally all my textboks and study apps all the time, in something so lightweight that I always carry it on me.
I like tablets because they're versatile.
Want to read a book? Moon Reader Pro.
Watch videos? Stream on Kodi.
Light gaming? USB OTG controller and emulator of your choice.
Done using it? Close the leather cover and put it down.
I like tablets because, due to their middle of the road size and power, can fill in for other devices in a pinch.
I've used my tablet to remote desktop my pc and do file operations from the bathroom or bed, because using the pc was out of the question and using my phone screen would've been agonizing.
People who use tablets as a daily driver or expect them to be a one stop solution are retarded. But you're BEYOND retarded if you can't find a use for them.
Literally who cares other than you?
Think about this anon. So what this dude's indirectly being an annoying faggot in front of you
He's not affecting you
He isn't talking to you
He made the mistakes
Move on with your life
If you want to be constantly mad, think about this: millions of people around the world are doing annoying things. Does that trigger you? Neither should that guy.
>Can use in portrait mode
Portrait mode is only needed for tiny sissy cuckold screens. If you want to be technical my 15" laptop can do 3 portrait modes at once.
If you're that OLED fag you can just fuck off right now.
>better battery life
I'll give you that but then again I've never had to have my laptop on battery for over 3 hours.
You don't NEED a full tablet. A smartphone will suffice.
A smartphone's screen is too small for what I want to do. I could, theoretically, use a 1x1 display mounted on an angry cat's tail, but that wouldn't be convenient.
What's with your chip on your shoulder about tablets? Did mommy refuse to get you one for Christmas? Are you just poor and feel like you need to white knight for the Razer Gaymen Laptop you blew your tax return on? What is this, honestly?
Then explain how I take my laptop to work, school, and home every day. I even take it over to friends' places with no problem.
Has your dumb ass never heard of a laptop bag? Do you put your dumb tablet in your underwear?
Tablets are GOAT for college classes. Laptops are heavy and inconvenient, tablets turn on instantly and are fast enough to get a few PDFs and webpages open that are useful for the class.
>inb4 hurr but they suck for typing
>taking notes on a digital device
Pen & paper master race
Heavier in comparison you braindead neckbeard.
>not having boot time of at least 5 seconds
Also putting laptops in sleep mode doesn't count because they eat battery like a motherfucker in that state, while my Nexus 7 can idle for at least a week and still be able to do work as soon as I press that power button.
I think I understand now.
Your laptop is literally the only thing of worth that you own, so you feel the need to bash other people for not spending $700+ to shitpost on 4chan.
You would legitimately cry if you lost your laptop, wouldn't YOU?
> Mfw OP gets stabbed to death because he'd rather die than give Tyrone his $700 laptop
I can see the benefit, but I do most shit in my living room where I have my entertainment center and computer so a tablet is pointless for me.
Even in the bedroom I just use my phone. The only way I could see it being more convenient is reading books and manga at work.
Laptop is still more convenient for DnD though since it's easier to view multiple pdfs at one time.
I use my tablet to make oversea phone calls and take photos at concerts. I also read Manga on it in bed.
I love when I'm laying in bed reading Manga and I suddenly get a call, I answer it and try to hold the tablet to my face but it's too bulky so I have to sit up
Thats the thing. My uncle ditched his cheap Samsung in favor of a tablet/nokia dumbphone combo and he is happy. It just werks.
The tablet market is pretty much dead at this point, but for some people they are still practical.
Bored so I'll bite.
1. Tablets are couch potato dream, shitposting, reading stuff or watching youtube on your comfy sofa or in bed is great.
2. Reading stuff. 10'' tablet is fucking great for reading comics, and despite the hate is good enough for reading books too.
Thats it. Its not much but its enough to buy one.
The kind of usage most people have when "portability"is the main concern is more befitting of the form factor and processing power of a tablet, or a netbook if physical keyboards are a necessity. It confuses me when people have I7 processors, 16 GB of RAM, and a gaming GPU in a laptop with a shitty chiclet keyboard and a battery life of like 1-3 hours, that runs so hot and so loud that it's basically mandatory to put it on a table, thus making it in practice a regular pc with shitty ergonomics....that they paid 2x the cost of the components for.
Media consumption. Music, chinese cartoons, chinese comics, tv series, web browsing, some games, e-mail checking.
But after using a Note 2 for 4 years and several 10" tablets, I'm seriously considering changing for a huawei mediapad x2 or something.
>not switching from phone/tablet to desktop
Yeah I sure like being stuck in the same spot all day long, yup. Oh wait there's laptops, those huge as fuck things you need to carry around, how silly of me. Yes, making it smaller sure is a stupid idea.
What do you think of the huawei mediapad x2? Too big?
>fell for the tablet meme
My Nvidia Shield K1 is pretty fucking comfy to use on the couch and in bed, laptops a shit in those situations
>only cost $200
>K1 CPU just werks really well
>GPU is pretty nice for emulation
>front facing speakers with dual bass ports
Well yeah, the thing is I have a Note 2 and a nook and some archos 10" tablet and the thing I use the most is still my phone. Even at home.
The mediapad x2 is 7" (yes it's a phone) so it's too big for most people but I think it's the perfect size for me and would allow me to get rid of my other devices.
Though wile the Note fits in my pocket the mediapad definitely won't.
I'm just looking for the perfect sized device for me. The problem of having too many devices is that all your stuff is scattered everywhere and even if you use cloud services or pick up stuff from your NAS it's a pain.
Plus since I use google agenda and watch chinese cartoons all the time on my phone a bigger screen would be nice.
Thank you for reading my blog.
it's a nice multipurpose device that doesn't take up a lot of space
i use mine to write, draw, watch shows, and fuck around online. if i'm not planning to do intensive work, it's a much easier option than bringing out my laptop.
I have the SHIELD tablet. It's a gaming and Netflix machine. I leave it plugged into a TV and play emulators mostly, but I have a few Android games (basically every Final Fantasy, among others)
It's definitely a worthwhile investment. My TV is bigger than my laptop and I don't own a desktop PC.
I have teclast x98 air 3g dual boot chinkpad and boy was it a mistake. Wifi drops every five minutes, which is pretty frustrating.
Luckily I happen to have a surface pro 3 with comfy linux, too.
I got 2 right here I ain't using at all. I wish they were useful to someone around.
One of them is a windows tablet, a Samsung ATIV Tab 3. What a piece of trash.
The other one is a galaxy note 8.0. I sometimes use that as a tablet on my computer to draw shit.
>What's the point?
Media consumption device. I have an e-ink reader, but it's horrible for PDFs for example.
It's comfier to use than a laptop when you are not sitting on a bench or chair and it's 100% silent.
>It's just a laptop with less functionality,
Only if you try and use it as a laptop.
>I hate this shit meme
Well if higher end ultrabook's specs with high-res screen and okayish batterylife aren't enough, hate away. As a dev ops guy, I like the portability-specs-price compromise. Only thing better would be thinkpad yoga, but they're expensive and iirc dont have as high res screens as surface pro 3/4. They would have more ram, rj45 port and better keyboard, though. But then again are heavier.
Nothing is perfect.
>>on a 7in display
>Who gives a shit? Can you tell me why it would make a difference especially on my viewing distances?
You'll have to be special kind of retarded and legally blind not to see difference on a $50 tablet and $500 tablet screens.
Weight, battery life, and cost really.
I ended up swapping out my laptop at uni because a tablet with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse made note taking easier- and the fact that they weren't connected like to laptop made it easier to maneuver on smaller desks. I could also use it more easily with a paper notepad if I was reading a textbook.
Now I mostly use it in bed or on the couch because I wear glasses, and if it's late night I'd rather not wear them and watch a tv, I'd rather take then off and watch on the tablet.
I also use its mini hdmi out as a quick party tool. Takes less space than a laptop to output to a friend's TV for movie watching
>10hr battery life
>portable as fuck, not bumping into anything
>tether with phone and use teamviewer to work on my laptop or desktop sitting at home
There's literally nothing I can't do with my tablet right now.
its actually a 1920x1200 ips screen
got one too and i still havent gotten any buyers remorse
so i think it was worth the buy
plus it can handle gamecube emulation thats pretty cool
if you could maybe make the keyboard invisible while still detecting the presses I guess it could work more efficiently but at its current state this is just 100% stupid
