>>52874787 Reddit and 4chan are web services. It does not make sense to refer to them as "open source" or "closed source" because they aren't software programs distributed and meant to be run on your own personal computer.
>>52875098 you're confused. it's not freedim if anything you say is presented my points. You've got to get some reputation and hold it up. Here you are free™ to discuss one day and shitpost the other. Or do both at the same time.
Only good thing about reddit are small boards and a couple of others that I go just to get sport news. Other than that, all those 'entertainment' and circlejerky boards like funny, 4chan, imgoingtohellforthis, android all that other shit are literally the worst place on the internet. I don't know if they are just kids or what but just looking at comments there give me cancer.
It adds unnecessary retardation to things that just werked, i.e. I can't use my keyboard after locking my screen and I have to first click the mouse to then enter my password, and it had its fair share of shitty support when it came out. GPU drivers crashing left and right. This is actually my second attempt at it and those driver issues are gone now.
So far there's absolutely no benefit over 8.1 whatsoever and disabling the windows update service is a must. Seriously, with it active you might as well willingly download some kind of adware because it bugs the every living fuck out of you with forced updates.
When compared to 7 I think it's worth it, provided you disable windows update like I said, or just stay on 8.1
The reason I grabbed it was due to dx12 exclusiveness fuckery so I might as well get this trash while it's still free.
>>52875257 Not him but it isn't paranoia. The spying is very real. There are always to kill it off though.
What I fucking hate the most about those places is that it's fucking packed to the brim with some shitty 30-something dads who just found out about the internet and try to pose as "le ebin geeks! Bazinga xD!"
Still not as revolting as neogaf though but equally cancerous.
And that's the difference between reddit and 4chan.
If you post this here people will generally agree with you. But if you post this there they will brigade and downvote the ever living fuck out of you and try to say something bad about you and your posting history in order to dismiss the evidences you're bringing up.
Microsoft shilling is just hilarious though, it sticks out as a sore thumb.
Here, have more added to your collection. I took these myself two years ago.
Last month I saw a reddit thread with a news article of a guy complaining about a datacap bill he got because windows 10 forcibly downloaded itself on his pc without his consent. It was hilarious seeing the microsoft shills upvoting each other and saying how we should not blame microsoft, but the ISPs instead. They were basically screaming "LOOK AT THE OTHER THING! LOOK AT THE OTHER THING!"
Mods here are better. You can get banned from a subreddit so easily. Seriously, go over to the Bitcoin subreddit and post "Blockstream Coin" you'll probably get banned by mods. Bonus points for calling out mod for pocketing money, but claims he is paying someone $100,000 USD a month to create a new forum.
I'd say that people who think that bazinga is the most "AWESOME" and "EPIC" thing in the world, while ironically talking about reddit as if it was this really underground den of "geeks like me" and some entry level tier opinions at best on everything are indeed very stupid. But feel free to associate with them if that's more of your level.
>>52875363 This desu. I think it got a little better, but 4chan has always been disastrous on the security and code quality side. moot never learned how to code, just copypasting and messing with the PHP till it works.
"The Microsoft Windows 8 operating system has a newly added feature to track system resource usage, specifically process and network metrics over time. Process related information such as process owner, CPU cycles used, data bytes read/written, and network data (sent/received) are continuously recorded by a mechanism called System Resource Usage Monitor (SRUM). This paper describes the SRUM mechanism, its databases, Windows registry entries, data logging, and potential uses in a forensic examination. Prior to this applied research, no tools were available to parse the SRUM data to a usable format. As part of this paper, two scripts have been developed to aid forensic examiners who would want to read, parse, and decode this information from a forensic disk image."
>>52875338 I can never trust the government, not even hitler, to not sooner or later stab me in the back. It's only a matter of time before we all get sent to FEMA camps for government brainwashing if you already haven't been.
>>52875510 The government already is trying to overrule the 2nd amendment by making it so difficult to buy a gun it's impossible. First they'll disarm citizens and then detain those who show signs of nonconformity or independent thought.
>>52875577 It's entirely possible. The left is getting sneakier and sneakier to grab guns and detainment/national spying is being done in the name of "combating terrorism". It's happening right now and you don't even realize it.
>>52875226 Every single person I know irl, bitches about crashes, it being slow and they regret installing it. I consider it malware, but maybe you won't so try to talk with people you know irl, and ask about crashes and other problems. Don't believe the shills, find out for yourself.
>>52875703 >>52875735 Gun violence statistics loves to factor in suicide like that makes guns a bad thing. If you took out suicide, a big portion of it is gang related, usually in gun limited cities like LA, chicago, detroit, etc.
>>52875098 >on 4chan >say something dumb/different, get called an idiot 10 times >but you learn why it's dumb at the end of the day on plebbit >say something dumb/different >get downvoted >also get called an idiot 10 times >at the end of the day, noone sees your post because it's hidden from the download clusterfuck
Also, god forbid you miss a tv show reference because they'll rip your throat out.
>>52875910 I think you can get rid of that partially with the reddit enhancement suite, the site is still cancer with it's free roam shills, power tripped mods and triggered lunatics. The only shit worth something there are really niche subreddits with less than 1000 users that discuss stuff you wouldn't see here.
>>52877350 i even gave you a redirect to another post.
having the freedom to say whatever you want without consequences the following day (aka i'm in good mood, i want discussion; i'm in shit mood, i'll shitpost for lulz) is simply better than a voting system.
>>52874787 Everyone has a fair chance to speak on 4chan. Reddit censors itself by automatically hiding downvoted comments. So, on 4chan you get to see everyone's point of view but with reddit you only see the circlejerk's point of view.
>>52877440 Boards on Reddit aren't run by their creator, they're run by Reddit administration, who reserve the right to wield their power in whatever way they see fit to enforce their SJW beliefs and punish those who don't abide by the SJW way of thinking
>Go to reddit >Post pro-Trump thread >Downvoted. Deleted. You are banned from this board. >Go to /pol/ >Post pro-Bernie thread >People call you a retard but you're allowed to have your opinion and continue the thread I WONDER WHICH IS BETTER
>>52877516 >Boards on 4chan aren't run by their creator, they're run by 4chan administration, who reserve the right to wield their power in whatever way they see fit to enforce their ANIME beliefs and punish those who don't abide by the ANIME way of thinking
>>52877282 By being anonymous you can say what you think, freely. No one will grant you bad reputation for the rest of your life and no one is even allowed to downvote so that you could see your post has -10000 points, meaning that everyone thinks you're a retard. If there is no voting and there is anonymity, people have to respond to you and perhaps explain why they think you're a retard, so there's some base for their claims.
You can make a fool out of yourself and come back in two minutes and behave better. If you do that with a nickname you're already branded a fool. Having to think about other people's reaction changes your behaviour and that's why people try to be as funny as they can, so others would like them. This leads to same jokes circling over and over again.
>muh upboats >muh fake Internet points >muh fake Internet fame because I have a name I post under This is why Reddit is cancer, it encourages circlejerks and mob mentality Threaded, chronological, anonymous discussion is the only way to go
>>52877580 The only sites that report on that kind of thing are sites like Breitbart. I already know how you're going to reply to that: >Your well documented reliable source is all lies because it doesn't agree with the SJW narrative I subscribe to!
>>52877595 >Threaded, chronological, anonymous discussion is the only way to go Yeah I have a hard time following the conversations in Reddit. Some reply chain might have a new reply and you miss it since it's such a jungle of replies. This place doesn't get on my nerves when browsing, it's so easy on the eyes.
>>52875895 Yeah? What if I wanted to tell them why I think X tv show they're referencing sucks, and not just by shitposting but by giving a genuinely argumented opinion? Tough luck, if you go against their precious circlejerk they are going to downvote the post regardless of what effort you put into it.
>low effort "just some inflamatory response, downvote and move on"
>high effort "haha wow did you really took so much of your time to type all of that?"
>/pol/ >A group of people who debate about politics all day and use facts to decide what is right and what is wrong >reddit >A group of people who choke on the hairy black cock that is the reddit administration's political views and are banned the second they present any dissenting view And people think /pol/ is the shit hole!
only good thing about reddit is that it keeps the cancer out. oh wait, the cancer kids want to be edgy, hip and cool, so they come to 4chinz and ruin it for the rest by bringing in their 'reddit humor'
>>52877683 I care because if I post something with actual effort on it I'm looking for it to spark some discussion involving both sides of the matter. If I post it it's because I want it to be read and given some thought, even if they don't answer or vote. That's the whole point of posting.
>>52877707 If it's not clear I'm going to say it again: If I post it I pretend it to be read, even if it doesn't actually get answered or voted. If someone wants to skip it that's fine too. Now if it just gets hidden in a sea of shit or simply downvoted to oblivion because some people dislike the fact that their precious franchise is actually not that liked by some people with factual opinions, then well why should I even contribute to anything at all? Better to just leave in the bubble, they aren't going to change their minds in the slightest.
I don't even know why this even needs any explaining. I feel you are very deliberately dense about this.
>>52877683 That's how it should be. It's a 'sidegrade' when downvotes/upvotes are just cosmetic. Burying opinions is no good. Though, voting systems should still relegated to more objective discussions.
Reddit is close minded, lacks I iginality, relies on threaded repkies, upvotes, and social virtue signaling. It's a terrible place to get any relevant content besides the OP, which is the exact opposite of 4chan where it's the replies that make a thread.
>>52877828 Yoy can ignore it on 4chan, Reddit literal hides contrarian rwplies to extinguish any oppsoite thinking. No it's not for the sake of their thread's topics because if yoy get rustled that easily you don't belong on the internet.
I don't read anything on Reddit besides the first post of a thread and the link/mage.
>>52877853 Godwin's law. You just lost. Also maybe the neonazis are right. You'd hate niggers too if every day you got to see new instances of them hating whites and doing inhumane things. You'd hate jews too after seeing how they are basically the SJWs of journalism and media
>>52877923 Disagreeing with someone who appears virtuous on the internet makes you into a pariah.
It's like if you correct some dumb young mother on social media, then all the dunb mothera start posting their feelings and try to bury you alive unless you apologize and sucede to their safe space mentality.
>>52875309 I think there's an agency that does these sorts of posts. The LG G3 and G4, Dell XPS 13 and Redmi Note 4 also had a fuckton of spam posts. The people who claim to own one sound like a fucking commercial, and the competitors they compare to are always the same.
>>52875552 Probably has something to due with the user base being more fucked up here than on shillit, it's a way to stop fuckers from easy evading bans since there is no account to be banned only an IP. Also, >reddit is more free than 4chan LOL
The reason why 4chan didn't make their source available is because it's shit. It's based on over ten years old php code from Shii and Snacks. Just use Wakaba if you wanna make a imageboard. Also: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/network-services-arent-free-or-nonfree.html
It's as simple as the culture. You basically have to take any jokes, ideas or arguments for their base content here. You won't know who's actually posting it. Could be some 14-year-old, could be Obama getting in some shitposting before bed. Since you will never know, the only thing you have to go on is the words they choose. THIS is how equal grounds work.
Reddit requires a name and password to post. You do not own this account, it can be perma banned. People will treat you about the same unless they hate your account name, or like it, or maybe they didn't like some stupid post from the past you made and they constantly downvote you now. Or you're real fucking popular with these retards and it's constant upvotes for dry content.
>>52880973 The voting system on reddit actually improves the discussion culture on that board most of the time. Quality posts that contain good argumentations will usually get upvoted and put into a more prominent place.
Things that get downvoted are usually just trolls or stupid spam like writing "I disagree" without giving any form of explanation, not valid critique.
At least it beats the 4chan way of preventing unliked content (spamming scat porn and gore) in any way.
>>52880937 Not really, because the world has never truly witnessed a real 'pure' communist government or fascist government really. The closes fascist government that successfully flourished was Imperial Rome until its inevitable downfall due to capitalism, and fascist Italy until they were stuck joining sides with Hitler.
>>52881077 You deleted your post just to add a comma. This one comma made so much of a difference to you that you went out of your way to wait to delete, delete, wait to post, and double-check to make sure you were grammatically correct.
Know what Einstein, Tesla and other great minds had in common with due respect? Ideas. Know what Reddit upvotes for? Grammar. Your stupidity here only disalludes me to your opinions.
>>52881169 >Post fact >Get downvoted by a bunch of liberal because it hurt their feeling >If someone want to read it they'll need to scroll down past other ∞ comments to read mine >Not cencorship gb2reddit commie
>>52881188 You don't need to check your grammar to be taken seriously, ass. Just how you don't need upvotes to confirm a decent idea. If you want to breed good discussion then do it, but nobody needs a fucking voting system for others to decide on its merit.
i hope e.e. cummings beets u in tha aftrlife 4 kerring that mutch abowt gramur
>>52875129 >voting system This is exactly why I turn 360 and fuck off every time I attempt that place. Whoever can get the most hands on his cock during the circle jerk gets his comment at the top. Autists voting for autist's autistic comments. It makes my asshole cry.
>>52881256 People will downvote you because they don't like what you said. It doesn't matter if you had a valid opinion, and you know this. Reddit is nothing but flat earthers with different beliefs, downvoting anything that contradicts what they want to be true. Here, no opinion is sacred. No opinion is shit. You have to read them all and make up your own fucking mind.
I understand why redditors hate 4chan. There's no one here to tell them what to think.
>>52875393 >>52875393 >I'd say that people who think that bazinga is the most "AWESOME" and "EPIC" thing in the world, while ironically talking about reddit as if it was this really underground den of "geeks like me" and some entry level tier opinions at best on everything are indeed very stupid. But feel free to associate with them if that's more of your level.
Wow, your second hand knowledge is really quite horrible. Also, reddit used to be far more "geeky" than 4chan ever was, but then it got popular and entered eternal summer.
>>52883293 >I understand why redditors hate 4chan. There's no one here to tell them what to think.
Again, this is not actually the case, it's just the projected self-image of some of you guys that you wish would be true. Hut all in all, most people on reddit are either indifferent to 4chan or actually sympathetic towards it.
I got banned from /r/PCMR because I called out some girl for attention whoring. It was one of those "hey I ascended today" threads, she had some fucking WEAK setup, B-series motherboard and 750ti. It isn't 'ascending' when you're going to barely run at console spec.
I don't really go there but to troll people because they are so easy to troll. Reddit is really quite comical, it's an unironic hugbox, people genuinely think there's nothing wrong with that. Like, I get it that not everyone wants to be razzed for small things, but I believe it's for the better of mankind to teach people not to put themselves so forth with stupid shit like that. I really get annoyed when people fish for unwarranted attention or think they are owed some compliments for doing shit they are supposed to do.
>>52885282 Nothing wrong with a 750ti But unneeded attention whoring for little shit is dumb. Sure it's ok to ask for recognition of you made some nice art or something, but building a computer is something monkeys get paid $15/hr to do.
>>52874787 >SJWs >no decent NSFW >no isolation between topics (everything is on main page) >can't be racist because eventually someone you know will find out your username and go look at your post history >everyone MUST act polite for the same reason >like/dislike system Nah, I'll take my non-free anonymous forum, thanks.
>>52888062 >no isolation between topics That's false, reddit has the boring front page and the subreddits, which are essentially the same things as the 4chan boards, just more "reddit". Source: lainchan is really slow so I occasionally check their cyberpunk board.
>>52874787 >reddit has even shitter users than here >other than breaking the few rules and shitposting, you can post and say whatever you want. >it's anonymous (not ip) the fact that unless you use a trip or a gay name, you're anon >I can call you a nigger
>>52874805 Reddit is anonymous unless you deliberately breach your anonymity. Hiro logs your IP and hands it to advertisers and governments
In terms of how good Reddit is as a site, it's so much bigger than here that you can't really say it's better or worse, some subs are and some aren't. For some types of discussions 4chan's streamlined linear forum model is useful, but for many topics it just doesn't work since you have to dig through 100 14 year olds edgelords who would be at -10 if voting existed
>>52890078 Explain how a site that will ban you and / or burry you into the ground for stating an opinion that's opposite of liberal / hipster / sjw has more freedom than 4chab where I can openly call the a nigger?
ITT: Underage website fanboys who think that you can only use one site and you must criticise the others to get approval from anons. Just use whatever you like
This site is fun for shitposting and escaping SJW mods (who control 90% of subs) but actual discussion is almost fucking impossible due to le ironic trolling XD *frogface* (and also a tree structure helps keep gun politics debates seperate from website mechanics debates)
>>52875308 >>52875393 Have you actually used Reddit? The sort of people you describe are generally hated there (BBT fans in particular)
>>52879528 >>52887203 >Fair point made >Ad hominem But reddit is worse because you can downvote ad hominems amirite?
>>52877668 This sounds more like a description of 4chan. There's no point putting much effort into any post since it will just be buried in le edgy meems. A good argument will get upvoted in most places on Reddit, retardism won't
>go to reddit >bernie sanders shilling everywhere >even obscure subreddits have sanders shilling >reddit praises fucking high schoolers for skipping school to protest at a trump rally >don't like sanders? enjoy your comment being put to the bottom of threads because of downvotes >literally full of SA rejects who run the website >SJWs out the ass I don't think I could ever like reddit if I tried
>>52877826 >>52877921 See >>52881077 >>52881256 Sure, 4chan threads are amusing, but no serious discussion gets done since there's too much shit to shovel. It's pretty annoying to try and have a political discussion about, for example, immigration, but 90% of replies are "lolol Hitler did nothing wrong XD pepe". These exist on Reddit too, and they're at -100 so you don't have to waste your time
>>52877911 >reddit is full of easily gullible retards that easily outnumber 4chan This is just too funny
>>52880973 >User posts reply that contributes nothing to discussion but his personal blog >Get's downvoted Well yes, that is the point
>>52883293 This is unfortunately true in some places, but it's even more true on 4chan where you must fit in with the 2edgy4me right wing stuff or just watch the thread get derailed with childish ad-hominems
