There's 16GB DDR4 RAM selling for $75 on Amazon. There's zero reason to not get 16GB if you're upgrading your rig seeing how a single stick is normally $40-$45. For me, work browser instance has several stupidly heavy web applications I need to use frequently throughout the day. I've got stupidly large, stupidly complex, word processor and spreadsheet documents open all day. One IDE. A few dozen ssh connections, and two separate VPNs. Various other isolated browser instances that I open and close as needed. A few pieces of hardware specific shitty vendor software.

Admittedly that's a work machine, not my home system, but yeah. And I'm right in the middle of my office for RAM usage.

Windows also caches RAM that's not in use. So if you have 16GB of memory, Windows is going to idle using 8-12GB until you use programs that need that much RAM.

If you have 200+ tabs open, chances are you're only looking at a small percentage of them.

Try one or more of this alternatives instead:

1 - unload tabs if you don't need them. this will make firefox use less ram and run smoother. use something like UnloadTab extension or similar
