I suppose. But it also depends on what you use your computer for. Editing and rendering will have you upgrading sooner than every 5 years. I recently built my first computer last summer and I expect it to last me at least 5 years. I'll probably upgrade from 8gb of memory to 16 shortly though.

Using a Hyper Evo for cooler. The highest I could push the cpu was 4.7ghz but it needed more voltage than I was comfortable with.

I may never upgrade from my 2500k it's probably the best processor I've ever owned
