What cheap Chinese tech have you bought, and would you recommend it?
Personally I've ordered:
> JINHAO 599 $2 Fountain Pen
> E17 CREE XM-L T6 3800 Lumens
> NIMH batteries and charger
> cheap multimeter
Syba Raid Controller - not recommended, though I can't prove I didn't flash the wrong BIOS
Orico portable USB3 drive enclosure - recommended, haven't been very hard on it though
TP-Link router many years ago - recommended, though it's reputable these days.
I'm looking for a new router though, one with acceptable wifi and gigabit ethernet.
I just bought this, nfc and bluetooth, good músic quality, calls levels are a bit low but I just turned down músic level a bit and now both sound levels matches.
guys im thinking of getting one of these: http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_155566.html?wid=3
also is the regular edition really worth the more than 100+ price?
I mean 3g is still plenty fast for my needs
>order from Gearbest UK warehouse (to France)
>shipping goes from London to Netherlands
Well, I guess it did end up finding its way to the border according to tracking, but damn do I find this dumb.
Pretty hyped for what's to come in it though, really hoping it lives up to my expectation of a decent video-watching/web-browsing laptop.
sk68 or one of it's millionth clones if you want a simple and really cheap aa light ~3 bucks
convoy s2+ for 18650 style batteries. flood light ~15 bucks
convoy c8 same 18650 battery but throws light ~17 bucks
solarforce is pretty good if you want p60 style drop ins
Avoid everything that has the word "fire" in it.
My knockoff 8gb Kingston keychain USB came in yesterday. It passed h2testw. Best $2.85 I ever spent.
Also ordered a mic module for an arduino project. Its completely useless. Doesn't detect anything unless I'm tapping on it, and even then, it's pretty shit.
More like "buy shit literally not available anywhere else."
Exact size of LiPo? Only Chinese will have it.
Most of the small glue ICs in use on modern mobos? Only the Chinese.
Sounds good. I haven't checked other Chinese phones. Oneplus is the one alot of people are talking about, so I decided to go with them.
IMO, Oneplus is the iPhone of Android. Without the bad stuff.
Sucks the 1 & 2 don't have and SD card. But a dual SD card is totally needed. -_-
>buy at local Chinese
>lowest quality, probably even poisonous materials.
>Some products feel literally like giving your money away
>buy at online Chinese
>brand made quality with funny names
>prices so low it feel like your are stealing the shit out from them
How is this even posibru?
Didn't read the carefully.
I suppose it's because online Chinese merchants had more at stake. Everyone is watching them. One bad move could break them. The meme Chinese tech is bad is pretty common to many people. So you can't just pussyfoot and think you'll get monies.
One factor: retail space.
Any local Chinese junkstore has to factor in the cost of renting a space. That plus they don't have huge amounts of competition, so they can just drive prices up as much as they want.
Shit direct from china has none of those problems
Ordered 2 of these yesterday:
Because of this:
I am excite
>What cheap Chinese tech have you bought, and would you recommend it?
lots of dongles for apple devices
$3 including postage
look identical to apples and work just fine
also a canon ac adaptor for my dslr, canon wanted over $100 wtf
Sure. Server, torrent client, captive portal and much else will be achievable after replacing the firmware with openwrt. I bought one of those wireless SD cards for suchlike, but was stymied by the inability to use the internal storage without external setup commands. This sounds like it can just be slapped into a cell power bank used as a pocket wifi/router/headless linux machine.
Fuck I love this headset holy shit I can have it in all the time and it's so discreet, I can use it at work (they banned earbuds). By having it only in one ear it doesn't disrupt my normal day-to-day conversations etc, it's like my life has a soundtrack. Now all I need to live out the movie Her is a really good AI.
Bought the rest for an FPV setup for my rc planes, easycap has a chip incompatible with the easycap viewer on android... might just buy a $15 monitor with rca input meant for backup cameras instead
Haven't tested the video TX/RX yet
>bobovr z3 (~20$)
Wanted to try google cardboard. The bluetooth remote it came with is broken. Hope eBay can hook me up with some kind of refund.
Wouldn't recommend because uncomfortable. The nose cutout is too small, I don't have a high nose bridge.
>nillkin 6p 0.2mm tgsp (~8$)
Awesome for the price, would have cost me 35$ if I got it from a local shop.
>generic USB type c dock (~4$)
Just fine, even came with some decent double sided tape.
>KZ ED9 (~11$)
Goofy looking and heavy for in ears but sound alright, little bit too bright in my opinion. Moving the cable causes crackles when I use them on my desktop USB dac, fine in my phone.
For the price they're OK but the sound is a little recessed if that makes sense, like everything is just a little bit distorted, with eq down 4db at 8k and 2 at 16k it's doable.
>Xiaomi Hybrid Pistons (~17$)
Lovely, thinking about getting another pair just in case these die from frequent use at some point.
>those znaps/magsafe USB cables (~6$)
The plug connections are really shit quality and wear out very quickly, don't bother.
>USB type c microsd reader, has what looks like UP written on it (~5$)
Won't work, phone will attempt to format the sd card and never finish or just quit. I gave up on it after 30 minutes.
>nillkin 5v 2a charger (~7$)
Seems alright, reminds me of the oneplus charger. This one doesn't have the high frequency whine though so that's nice.
>bm800 mic (~15$)
Works well enough with active ambient noise removal and phantom power.
>one of those rii 2.4ghz mini keyboards (~10$)
Promising battery life, trackpad works well, buttons are nice and clicky. Miss my dinovo mini's backlighting though.
reviews and online reputation. Yeah it's not perfect, but it's better than your local chink. Aliexpress' reputation system works surprisingly well though. I never got fakes from sellers with good reputation. Also it's worth to check the photo reviews.
How bright this is (in lumens)? I would by one for my mom, she lives on a farm and the power generator doesn't run 24/7.
where can i buy chinese headphones that are open (meaning that i can hear if someone knocks on my door while i have them on my head)
i tried looking at gearbest.com but they list everything as noice cancelling even if they look kinda open
Anyone tried a DLNA receiver? Work OK on 1080p, specifically with DLNA? Lowest price is $11.29 now
Any experience with the type of projectors I might see on these sites?
Beats by dr Dre Inear - 5€
Same quality like the orginal. Made out of metal and very nice look.
Beats by dr Dre Studio - 15€
Quality was good for the price. In near it looks cheap
Micro-USB charing cable - 0,89€
They were okay. Looks a bit strange but it works.
USB-Charger - 1,20€
After three months everyone of thems broke. I bough 5 and 2 were defect when I got them.
It looks like the key fob to some 3rd world spec Mitsubishi Lancer retrofitted with a crappy security system
>that looks like someone with money and a real career, not a job.
lol no, this does albeit old school money
Oops, took a second look, they claim 8W. 3800lm/8W=475lm/W.
>Theoretical limit for a white LED with phosphorescence color mixing: 260-300 lm/W
They simply lie.
3 pack tronsmart micro usb
glass screen protectors
spigen slimarmor knockoff case for the LG G2
Baoer fountain pen (I highly recommend these over the Jinhaos)
I am also thinking of buying a Redmi 3 when prices come down
Those fobs are exactly the same as my Infiniti's. Not sure how it looks cheap especially compared to what Ford, GM, Toyota and a myriad of others that aren't maybe BMW look like..
>triple 6 triple 3
Top projector I have. Incredibly decent for the price (<$190US if you look hard enough)
Thinking about getting the Yeelight ambient lamp. Anybody copped?
Regarding chink stuff from chink websites. Can someone recommend me a good e-cig that tastes good and does its job well and is relatively cheap? I wanna quit smoking and I don't wanna pay a lot on an e-cig
does someone has experience with the mirascreen dongle? http://nl.aliexpress.com/item/MiraScreen-OTA-TV-Stick-Dongle-Better-Than-EZCAST-EasyCast-Wi-Fi-Display-Receiver-DLNA-Airplay-Miracast/32536065223.html?spm=2114.010208.3.1.geDsQq&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_1,searchweb201644_3_505_506_503_504_301_502_10001_10002_10016_10005_10006_10003_10004_62,searchweb201560_5,searchweb1451318400_6148,searchweb1451318411_6451&btsid=6e6a351e-940f-4453-83da-e4c9347cd0aa
Thanks for the help anons. Looks good.
Have any of you had problems with customs before? I'm thinking of buying a tablet for around 90 euro from either banggood or aliexpress, but I don't know wether I'll have to pay import tax for eu with the different shipping options.
7 bucks, it works amazingly well for playing music, and taking incoming phone calls in the shower with the built-in microphone.
Has about 6 hours of battery life, I charge it once every 2 weeks.
yup. I'm from DESIGNATED. Had my fucking G2 stolen. either the seller didn't ship it, or the customs fucking stole it, don't know. 150 australian rupees down the toilet, or in this case, street.
>even though is sexy when women sweat
>phone size battery bank including solar panels
That capacity can't be real. Also even though I like chink products generally I would never buy a fucking carabiner from the chinks. They like to lie about specs.
The piston 3 is fucking based though, I hope you got it from some reputable seller.
People are saying the capacity is probably more like 30000ish, it's whatever, I've always wanted to tool around with one of those solar fuckers.
Gearbest was recommended from an anon here, I hope the Pistons are legit.
Also, the carabiner is going to be for keys and other light weight shit, I'm not too worried about it.
No idea, I'm ordering this and hoping it will be good so I can fuck with it while hiking. I'll be sure to do some reviews of this shit and post them here when they arrive in 2019.
>not wanting to be a total dick to your friends
>"Sup bro! Wanna come over and chill out?"
>"(shower noises)Ure (shower noises)o! Le(Shower noises)e (shower noises)st get my (shower noises)"
Yeah, I just calculated and 48000mAh would mean energy density larger than 1000 Wh/liter (this is neglecting the volume of the solar panel, the circuits and the rounded corners).
According to Wikipedia state of the art batteries are around 676 Wh/liter. I wouldn't believe that this is even 30000mAh though. It's too cheap and too small for that.
have the same background for my laptop but bigger and more blue
>dat power bank
you fucked up on that one. Just read some reviews.
>I can't fully charge a 3300mAh phone. It gets the phone only to about 85%.
And many more saying the same putting it around tenth of the claimed capacity.
Bought these during the black friday sale and they fulfilled it directly from chinkland. Took about a week and a half.
$1.37 from FastTech including free shipping. Apple wants thirty fucking dollar for their travel adapters.
I bought Piston 3 a couple of weeks ago because everyone was pushing them here, I think it was before the Cheap Chink Shit Gen. became a thing.
Obviously I wasn't informed and got the fakes (then again they were like 4 bucks). They sit in my ears really well, I haven't seen earphones with better ergonomy desu. So take care and buy the ones that are more metalic on the outside (not nearly black) and cost about 12 bucks, not 4.
Gonna buy the real ones soon and probably
Are these worth ordering?
I normally just buy earbugs since I can't stand in-ears when I'm moving, but for just siting listening to music I think I should get something better.
Damn normie drivers I swear
Ford keys are really nice, Infinitis are just "literally why?" tier
I'm in the same boat as these anons.
Browsing aliexpress and I see all these tablets use Mediatek chips so I would assume the build quality is the only difference between brands.
Any recommendations on a sturdy tablet for movies and the like?
How's the GPS on the cheapo Chink smartphones? I'm talking a 100$ and below.
My Motorola Defy didn't always connect to GPS when offline, is that likely to be a problem with Chinese phones as well?
I believe live CDs set up excessive caching for their live medium so it should be fine. I like puppy though since it loads itself to RAM once it has booted and you can even unmount the flash drive.
Yo, do you guys think a 1280x800 screen for an 8 inch tablet would be enough? I'm really tempted to get one of these chinese tablets from banggood, since even if it ends up getting held in customs and I need to pay tax, I'll still only pay half for a comparable tablet in my country.
Cool. Is banggood a decent store? I want to get it there because they've got a -10% coupon going for that tablet atm, but I can't find a solid yay or nay from any of the site reviews.
What are the "high end" in terms of sound quality cheap Chinese headphones to get? Something for just sitting in bed and listening? Don't care if it isn't built very well since it won't get any active use.
Actually Slashdot ran an article on it Tuesday
>mfw almost no discussion
Ordered the same day as I've been wanting something just like it.
I have been waiting for it to show up on Hackaday though.
That and with the aforementioned shipping guide we can also say how long it takes to ship using what method where in the world. For example a anon in Paris might have an extra week as compared to someone in the US.
Anyone have any experience with the Redmi Note 3 2GB ram? Is it any good?
Reviews says it's good, just wanted to hear you /g/uys opinion
Depends, since many chinese websites have EU warehouses which ship faster to EU, and without the risk of added taxes on the way (which is mostly why it's worth the added cost usually, on top of the faster delivery).
Anyone have experience with cheap Chinese "gaming" mice and Mechanical Keyboards? Wondering if it's worth ordering them since they're quite a bit cheaper and if they feel and work the same that's some easy monet saved.
Keyboards are usually fine, although expect potential trickery on the switches from unknown brands.
Most mechanical keyboard makers are pretty well-known already though, even the one you'd find on the depths of Aliexpress.
I was not trolling at all guy, paying for a mouse every year is asinine to think about. My Logitech mouse was $10 and has lasted me 4 years. I would say invest in something that will last a while /v/. There are /g/uides on the best mice, try to find that.
That is exactly why I am asking for recommendations for mice with the DA shape here...
> There are /g/uides on the best mice
And the deathadder is always on their recommended list.
Get the gas station disposable ones. I bought some so I can smoke in the house with no smell. I don't remember the brand but they should all be similar. Worked well, cartridges lasted awhile. No need for China shit that might explode your face
Hey /g/, I want a cheap ass MP3 player for my car. You think this will work well enough? More importantly, do you think it has playlists?
Any reason not to get or use this?
How horrible is it compared to other pastes? Is it worse than mayonaise?
Anyone know about singleboard computers?
I'm looking for a particularly short one. There's plenty of chinese ones but they all seem to have the same two USB port stack as the Pi which is just too tall for my purposes. Anyone know of any that have just single USB ports and presumably no ethernet port either?
specs are good on it (not great, but good enough)
camera is bad compared to every flagship smartphone these days
but if you buy it direct from china you lose out on GAPPS and possibly the appropriate network bands for your carrier, so unless you're buying it just to play around with and not use as a daily driver, i'd do my homework before buying it
Anyone try the Blu Life One X? Trying to find a good cheap android and I've heard these Chinese ones are getting pretty good.
It has to be gray m8.
But seriously, I would just get some arctic mx or something so I know it doesn't leak. It may be expensive jew prices for a tube of crap, but it's still less than a dollar per application, so a drop in the bucket that is your pc build budget.
I have the 3gb ram version for 2 weeks now, amazing phone, no complains other than locked bootloader and being stuck with MIUI.
Also, wait for the pro version with the snapdragon 650 cpu coming next month, +25000 poins on antutu and microSD card
I often order directly in China, especially when I need 50m of LED Stripes.
But I'm also content with with some consumer grade stuff.
I like my MiBand, and my Xinxun Intruder UFO-Drone is not bad too. But that Raysun X36 Drone is bullshit.
>E17 CREE XM-L T6 3800 Lumens
Haha, yes, and I love it.
>DC100 dash camera
It's reliable and way higher quality than I expected.
>SPY Helm Sunglasses
They are good fakes.
Other random shit too. I think the price savings is often worth it, just be ready to file a claim when you don't get what you ordered.
I got a hundred for my nexus 5 for 15 aud almost 2 years ago.
As soon as it would get a scratch id just rip it off and replace it.
Also got 2 tempered glass protectors for my g3 for 3 aud.
I wouldnt mind buying local if it wasnt such a rip off.
>see case I want on ebay for $1.3
>dont want to wait a month for it so go check the local markets (parklea)
>same case I saw, was $10
>explain to the chinese lady that id pay up to $7 for it because I can order it online for $1.3 and im sure she gets it cheaper because bulk.
>leave and order it off ebay
>the case got delivered in just under 2 weeks
fuck parklea markets.
Is this actually good?
Im looking for a new good cheap cable, almost gave up and soldered my own 20awg wires to a micro usb.
Gaymer gear like Razer and Zowie are recommended because they're the only brands that realize optical > laser and are the closest you can get to nailing the ancient Intellimouse shape, and when they're working, they DO work really well
What those guides fail to mention however is that QC is all over the fucking place, so for every Deathadder or FK1 that some anon will be able to abuse for years, there's a handful that'll need to be RMA'd because the switches start double-clicking in a matter of months, while the rubber turns into a grainy mess, so after light usage, you'll have some sort of residue on your fingers that you can't see, but can totally feel, so it's a cycle of use the mouse, wash your hands, use the mouse, wash your hands, use the mouse, wash your hands
~Replying to some dead posts because I just got off work~
I own one of those (actually several of the $0.99 variety, possibly knockoffs)
I have no idea how bright they are in lumens. They are not bright enough to replace an overhead light. They are quite bright enough to replace a desk lamp for reading, playing cards etc. They are nicer than actual flashlights for navigating through dark rooms (nighttime piss etc) because the light is spread out and diffuse rather than concentrated.
I actually like these better:
because the lights are more spread out so you have less of a problem creating shadows with your hands, etc. They are very useful for night-time computing on older laptops without thinklights or backlights.
Dear people of /g/.
I need 3 tower fans. At least 20" of blade.
They are terrible difficult to find for some reason and I want them for a personal project on my house.
I dont have to have the whole fan, if I could get some nice, long tower blades, that would work as well.
I have been looking for weeks. Im trying to keep this really low cost.
I don't have any pics of my actual bike, but I have a Neuvation F100 w/ SRAM Rival (RIP Neuvation Cycling)
>Micro SD, Tiny usb-drives
I find them very reliable if you buy sized 8gb or less.
They are pretty slow (~5.6 MB/s - 11 MB/s)
I use mine for linux installs. They work great.
>E17 CREE XM-L T6 3800 Lumens
Thinking of getting one to keep in car, what you pay for it? I see it for $12 CAD on Ebay.
Odd things ive bought from China
>tempered glass for cellphone
>10m snake camera
>Powerful af handheld laser pointer
>LED lights for car trunk and interior lights
>Bendy thing to hook up mic to headset
I want a cheap rc drone though.
Takstar (pro80 or hi2050) for headphones
Xiaomi for earbuds
KZ-ate have nice reviews
I also would recommend the sony mh1, the cable is awful, but they sound nice, a bit too bassy, but e.q solves it.
Xiaomi products are reliable. Their phones are huge in China and somewhat popular in the US, and their $25 headphones are also pretty good, so I don't see why their USB cables would randomly be shit.
I know this is late as fuck, but anyone wanting an android should get a OnePlus product. Currently typing this on my OPO. This thing is great, has better hardware than most current phones and was $350. Bought it over a year ago and it competes with current flagship phones.
The other half is that is the market is flooded with Xiaomi fakes that aren't half as well made. Stick to the official channels, Gearbest, tinydeal, etc. Apparently they'll be opening up their own US portal soon, that'll alleviate some of the concerns.
I'm about to order a bunch of these. I'll probably keep one or two in my car just for shits and giggles.
I caught myself thinking about that.
One for the car, two for the pc, another for the laptop, one for my keyboard, one I could wire to my voltmeter - it was at that point that I decided I do not need to order more than like four. Two because I actually have a use for them, and two because why not have some spares that I'll never use and can fill up my junk drawer with.
iPad 3/4 Display Replacement: ~25USD
iPad 3/4 LCD to DP Adapter: 3500JPY + 420JPY shiping
For a pretty nice extra screen.
Any of you know if asking banggood to declare the 85 euro tablet to just be 21 euro will work? For some reason I have to pay stupid high import tax for anything that costs more than 22 euro in my country. What a rip off.
For just $1.98 you can be as cool a Ahmed!
(Nice to see China Shopping threads regularly now, I also started some a while ago)
I've just ordered this GSM board:
I don't know if it's any good, but for $1.63 I couldn't resist
>buy shoddy knockoff Chinese sunglasses
>they focus the light instead of filtering it
>causes house fire in your eye sockets
I wanna buy this but I'm afraid of waiting 2 months for something that will stop working in 2 weeks
Should I do it? Are there other reviews?
Where's the 64gb that's in the picture?
Check out the ddwrt and openwrt forums. They'll point you in the right direction.
I really want the banana pi router to be good, but the performance is dismal. So close though. Plenty of RAM and CPU, SATA, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n.
They work fine. Don't seem to burn out. Get the right color temperature, and don't go too bright. First one I got was blinding, second one I bought appeared about twice as bright as the stock incandescent my car came with, and was perfect.
The dark lenses make your pupils dilate and let in more light rather than blocking it
The reason sunglasses protect your eyes it the UV coating
You don't need $800 Dior shades to protect your ballz tho
>2.what is the write speed?
our USB flash drive write speed is 5M/S -- 10M/S or you will lucky to get 11M+.
if you want to save 1GB film in our USB flash drive, that you need the time is 2 mins,it save your time.
Got pic related, it's chickshit but from an actual store.
Had a few back this time last year, at $90 each, but they've gone on clearance for $50 so I picked one up and ordered another two in from a store that had more in stock.
Love them, just wish they didn't die so often.
Internally they're just bog standard INET boards like everything else.
