Both android and IOS have the same problem: updating to the next major release completely wrecks everything.
The new version always requires more ram and resource for basic things and the phone usually is not even designed for that increase usage unless it comes with that version by default.
On IOS it's devastating because you are forced to upgrade to install any app from the store.

Also IOS has more aggressivepolicies for closing down background apps, I'm pretty sure I remember there's some limit that prevents a background application to use the network for more than 10 minutes or something dumb like that, it also forcefully closes apps more aggressively than android.

Also the last trick: UI in IOS has a higher priority than anything else. Some apps will even stop doing their stuff if you start swiping a lot.

Galaxy s5 running cm13. 6 hours sot with google play services. Only lag I've experienced is on power saving mode while trying to play some CPU intensive game. Touchwiz was different, my phone would barely get 2 hours sot and would freeze apps after about an hour of use.

That's a lofty claim that OP probably should not have made because it can't really be proven, not in whole.

The fact of the matter, and the reason that OP even made this thread, is that android phones do have lag. It's almost become a meme for the device but it is born of thruth; I have tried several phones running android over a few years and each one had noticeable lag under circumstances which didn't seem to warrent it.

Switching between apps, closing an app, opening an app, using an app and I have even experienced it while swiping the screen of one phone to unlock it.

I've experienced this on models both expensive and cheap.
I'm using an Xperia Z3 right now and I experience lag daily.


Truthfully, I'm not throwing anything substantial at you, other than my opinion. I have work now but if I remember to later, I'll come back, do some research and give you the results I find.

Of course, anyone else (including OP) could do that in the meantime.

Because the iphone was designed to be as simplistic as possible. The phone needs almost no interaction from a human to be maintained other than occasionally clearing pictures\music\movies\apps to free space. This is not for everyone. I would never want this in a phone. The last thing I would ever invest in is a peice of technology I just abuse with no emotional connection to. I enjoy knowing the inner workings of my devices. Honestly I miss the basic functionality of an iphone. Only with the note have I found constant crashing and sometimes extreme lagging between apps. I decided to add a custom Rom after being tired of the somewhat edited stock android. Even as a advertised fast Rom it ducks ass. Miserable with my phone.

Had this for almost 2 years now. Stock ROM, unrooted, don't really do any maintenance, and it works just fine. Costs less than an iPhone, too. Webm related.

I've been using a 5X alongside my 6S since black Friday and I can confirm that Android does indeed still lag. My iPhone is buttery smooth and animations are 60fps while my nexus sometimes takes a few seconds to launch apps. Apps like Google Music and Chrome stutter and are chopp as fuck while navigating. For example, if I tap to open the menu in chrome the opening animation floors at like 5fps. Shits jank.
