Nexus 6p confirmed best smartphone of 2015
Even KFCHD doesn't suck apple dick anymore.
>huge weirdo extruded top band (truly google "design in good taste")
>amoled "may I have some burn in pls" screen, "thank you, here's my shekels for planned obsolescence"
>card slot: none, but you get extra botnet "free" cloud
>battery: non-removable (oh well, another best phone feature checked)
>IR: no support (you don't need it, this is a device which makes google control you like a device, not a device which makes you control other devices using IR)
>glass breaks spontaneously on the camera
>best 2015 phone
2015 was truly a shitty year if 6p is "the best".
Loving my LG G4 and it's camera, pic related, took it yesterday.
Only issue with my g3 is the 1440p display.
Other than that it's perfect. Beautiful screen, beautiful ui.
I installed cloudyg3 which has the g4 launcher and apps.
Nothing wrong with the 1440p screen, but I feel like it was a little too soon. For I do notice the occasional microlag when opening my app drawer or when browsing.
I love this phone though and can see myself getting a g5 or g6 in the future.
Also knock code is simply the best.
Would you recommend stock mm?
What kernel you on? Gabriels?
I mean I agree with a lot of his points. The Nexus 6P looks amazing and it's my smartphone of choice since I'm a fan of stock Android. He's right about the Note 5 having the best camera, he's right about the V10 being a total beast, and he's right about the iPhone 6S being the best compact phone out there. The iPhone 6S Plus also has great battery life, right up there with the 6P. I'm not a fan of Apple but they really make great technology.
Ok, you people need to lose this mindset of 12 yo boys.
I only bought android phones but hating on apple? What for? After realising how jewish they are, just don't buy that shit and warn poeple close to you.
But if apple would really vanish, then prices for android would go up. Thank you apple for the competition and thank you stupid goys for buying flagships every 2 years.
I am gladly enjoying my 80€ android phone. Keep paying for the r&d cucks.
It's not the best smartphone of 2015 but it certainly is a huge step up from an itoy. It bends in your pocket and glass around the camera can spontaneously crack but at least it has 3GB of RAM and a 1440p screen.
The Note 4 is still the best phone for 2015 IMHO.
I have been using the phone since it released in my country and I haven't noticed any of the issues that you commented on. That said I keep it in my Jacket pocket so maybe people shouldn't be retards and be careful with how they treat their devices.
I wish, the nexus 6P isn't a very durable phone. I know the bends tests was a little extreme and maybe unrealistic but many people have reported that it does in fact bend in your pocket. Though a sturdy case can fix that and anyone who uses their phone without a case is a moron so I guess it's not really an issue.
Oh and I forgot to mention, it has no mSD slot. 200GB mSD cards are on sale for $80 right now and all nexus 6p cucks can do is be salty right now lol.
Here is the 200GB mSD card I was talking about, it was on sale for $80 yesterday. Hope it goes on sale again soon.
Yeah I guess, you should get a durable case for it if you haven't already (just to be safe). I'm sorry you chose a phone without a microsd slot. 256GB mSD cards are probably gonna be like $100 on this year's Black Friday.
>then prices android would go up
you meant samsung?
the competition is chinese hardware vs better chinese hardware to be senpai honestly
iphone/apple is not about technology anymore, thats like fashion
almost none in the s6
Not like ricer scum like you aren't going to install 50 icon packs over it anyway. UI Looks great by default
>Features that i won't even bother using
Because you never had one and you're talk out of your ass
>replace my nexus 5 from 2013
What's wrong with it? Does it lag even after a factory reset? Would a battery swap be more expensive than a new phone? Is it damaged?
Faggots who cant keep their phone clean and hoard music and thousands of snapshot of their food.
>Can't use up 16 GB in a snap
I've already got a 128gb microsd with 94 gb used
nigger I have a 64gb micro sd chip and I only have 4gb left. I feel brutally stupid I didn't get the 200gb micro sd chip. Now I have to buy another one.
I mostly have tv shows on my phone and multiple virtual flash drives too (drivedroid).
Maybe in the US public transport is a disgrace, but in the first world we have systems that get us to places quicker and cheaper
You shouldn't be proud that you're forced to drive everywhere because your public transport is so awful
it's disgusting, what the fuck are you smoking
I have a car and use public transport plenty as well. You use a car because you have to, there's no way around it if you want to go anywhere or do anything. Your cities were designed terribly and your needs are placed at the whim of car dealers who will fleece you at every opportunity. In Europe most people get cars because they want them, not because they need them. I basically don't use my car except for travelling to other cities.
what's going on, is that a double sunset ? Are you living on the Tatooine famo
Not on eBay. Keep your eyes out for deals, there is always something on offer.
Literally 10 fucking seconds on Amazon, £12 for 64GB. Don't be a retard.
If the only thing you use is the OS, why even have a smartphone. The first thing that will get a boost is Internet browsing. Plus I'll be able to undervolt/underclock more and get the same performance with way lower power usage. And higher resolutions, yeah. Modern phones struggle with them.
>tfw i had mine for 14 months and then dropped it and the screen cracked
That was two years ago and I still cry sometimes. Thankfully I've had the Nexus 6 for 14 months now and it's definitely more than made up for it.
>tfw I dropped mine last April through the fucking engine bay of my car
I would have kept using it too if the digitizer didn't stop working
Currently using my dad's old Nexus 5 with a new battery because lolnomonies
Good times. I've thought about buying a Nexus 4 second hand just because it was such a fucking cool phone and I wouldn't mind having a backup to me Nexus 6 when I inevitably break it.
That has been confirmed several times that it's not working.
>undervolting a 700$ phone
Yeah, who are you fooling faggot?
You have a very poor justification to purchase the newest tech. Meanwhile people buy 70-100$ phones and have all the features they need. If you think those additional performance boosts are worth +500$, then you are just uninformed.
Thanks for paying the r&d goy, i will enjoy my cheap tech, financed by you.
Did you look at the screenshot? That's from pulling down the shade once. It already has half the screen taken over by bloat. Vanilla Android keeps those options hidden until you actually need them.
If you're retarded, maybe the LG approach is better for you since everything is constantly in your face. If you're smart enough to pull down again when you need those options, then Vanilla Android >>> LG Bloat
It's ugly. People who "like it" are just suffering from post-purchase rationalization.
>you don't see a single button except options
>not realizing the options is exactly what i'm talking about
I don't like Samsung either, for the same reasons. Touchjizz and Sense and LG UI are all disgusting in various degrees.
look at >>52634118
Brightness controls, volume controls, wifi buttons, vibrate, "All Interruptions" bluetooth, rotation.... all of which look terrible compared to stock Android, and worst of all they are always in your face taking up room that could be used by notifications when you pull down the notification shade.
You're fucking delusional.
>Oh I need to adjust the volume
>Let me grab my phone, turn the screen on and unlock, open the remote app and select the volume button with no tactile feedback forcing me to look at it to determine location in the middle of the movie
>Oh shit I need to skip back 10 seconds to see that again, let's go through that whole scenario again
>Oh I need to adjust the volume
>Let me grab it off the armrest in the dark without having to look at it and adjust the volume instantly
IR is fucking retarded on phones, it sounds so cool in theory by having less devices to manage in your home and unifying control to your personal device but it just doesn't work for actual use.
Oh, and long press on a setting is always doing something. And it's absolutely beautiful as it is.
You can literally add a remote widget to the lock screen.
>Let me grab my phone, turn the screen on and unlock, look for the remote widget and select the volume button with no tactile feedback forcing me to look at it to determine location in the middle of the movie
Look I'm really sorry you bought this phone, okay? I am, sincerely if I could take that phone from you like a case of HIV I would senpai because that's how much I love you de gozaru.
>huge weirdo extruded camera
it looks bigger in pictures for some reason. it's essentially nothing when in hand, and most cases account for it slightly so it ends up being essentially flush. i went with the slimmest case possible and it feels great in hand when normally i'm not a case person.
i've never noticed amoled burn in but i replace my phone after 2 years or so, we'll see how it holds up with the on screen buttons (i was on a galaxy before)
battery isn't much of anything to worry about when you'll get a new phone before it deteriorates to a significant degree. i've had removable batteries in my phones for the last 8 years and only did it once on one device. just not really a concern unless you're planning on a 4 or 5 year stretch on one phone
sdcards are deprecated and worthless these days. i liked it when i was flashing ROMs and shit all the time but I've grown out of that time so it doesn't really benefit compared to just having it on device. with 64gb being so cheap compared to other flagships, what the fuck are you putting on your phone that takes up so much room? I'm so confused how you people manage to use it. you don't need every single song in your library on your device at all times, right?
i'm not sure where you've seen glass breaking spontaneously, and i look at xda occasionally and the only complaints there are people getting a bent piece of metal above the side buttons
overheating? again don't see any complaints of that for normal use. what flagship doesn't get hot when running shitty phone games anyway? wait why are you playing shitty phone games anyway?
some of your complaints are valid for some users but really a lot of that is just holding onto old designs for no other reason than "because i might need it"
LG just announced big losses today because their phone division didn't make any money.
LG and HTC have been bleeding themselves dry year after year.
They'll never have the best phone available on any given year, why the fuck do they bother?
still shit compared to me grabbing my Harmony Remote sitting on the armrest literally right next to my phone and having tactile feedback. It's just not comparable. What do you do when you want to skip back 10 seconds to rewatch something? What do you do when you need to adjust subtitle source or choose a different audio stream?
good luck doing custom shit with that. For example:
I run a proper media center, so one button on the Harmony turns on 4 devices and launches a program on a computer (Kodi) while setting everything to the right inputs. This same button turns it all off.
It also allows me to:
Control subtitles/audio sources, skip forward/back, pause, mark things as watched, go to Live TV, control my FireTV and all associated features, recording TV, going to a specific channel number, open a web browser, open steam in big picture, open menus in Kodi to delete/add things, filtering and sorting, control basic Windows features like Full Screen or closing an application.. I mean the list is massive an endless that are provided by a proper media center remote that wouldn't be close to possible on a shitty phones IR app, I'm so happy you can channel up and down though! how advanced.
Except you still have to look at the screen. I can do all of this shit in the dark with muscle memory/tactile feedback.
And to top it off you are stuck with having that SHITTY ugly fucking widget on your phone at all times? That's gross. You're gross. IR in phones is shit and a gimmick that no one serious uses.
>like skipping back/forward, selecting subtitles and recording tv
right. right. people dont do that shit!
whatever, keep clinging to that dead concept. the industry agrees with me that it's a waste of dev and engineering time to even bother, which is why no phones have it. even on the phones that have it, the apps are shit obviously.
it was a cool idea on paper but no. its bad. you'll get over it.
My parents have never used those features EVER and neither have I. We just change the channel or the volume, that's literally it. I have a hard time believing most do more than that most of the time.
god your life sounds like it sucks. stop it you're depressing. you sound like you live in 1995 where you just hook your antenna up to your TV and take whatever shit they feed you.
i wish i could come to your house and show you a proper media center setup. im sorry
do you have running water? i can start a fund to send you clothes if you need it?
I pictured him as the guy they have on TV infomercials where the most basic task they fuck up beyond all recognition...
Also, Love IR at my camper, bought a sony set top box for 9 bucks because it didn't have a remote, and so I downloaded one... and wouldn't you know it, works for the TV that was there also without a remote (but yeah, let me go drop money on a universal for the TV, and then pay too much for the sony one on ebay/amazon)
Thank you, think my contract it up in a few months so was wondering if there are any I should look at.
(Went from the S3 to a note 4, they all seem fine but hate they are doing the apple thing now)
I have had my 6P for 6 weeks now and it is the best smartphone I have ever owned. The screen is amazing. Battery life is one of the best, if not the best, I have ever had in a phone. Performance is amazing. Android 6 is really, really nice. I prefer it over iOS now. It is really polished and offers some excellent built in features. I love how I can make my phone really personal with Nova Launcher and icon packs, etc. So much nicer to use over iOS. The camera is incredible. The only thing I would like extra is OIS but that isn't a huge deal for me anyway. The finger print reader is lightening fast and just as accurate as my iPhone 6 was. To be honest there isn't anything bad about the phone. It offers so much more over an iPhone it is hard to justify one over a 6P unless you are super ingrained in the iOS world.
Well I never had that in my iPhone so don't miss what I never had. Plus I got a 128GB 6P so have plenty of space. I gotta say I fucking LOVE that I can just copy over an mkv file to play without having to change it to an mp4 and use iTunes, etc.
Objectively the only android phone that is better than an iphone. I can't wait to change my shitty s5 for a 6p.
>this newer phone is better then my old one
My old s4 flashed with a custom rom is way more fluid then my friends G4, however the G4 is just better overall with its hardware. Personally I would go with the V10 and if LG keeps up with the removable battery and sd card I just might hop over to them once i'm tired of my note 4.
The s5 is a good phone, I like mine, the screen is beautiful but as any phone with a shitty amoled screen it will get less prettier as time pass, battery life is amazing, and the phone rarely gets hot. 8/10 phone desu
The s5 supposedly will get marshmallow in February or March, but I don't have my hopes up.
>the competition is chinese hardware vs better chinese hardware
You mean Samsung displays (Korea), Sony camera sensors (Japan), Skyworks power amplifiers (USA), Bosch accelerometers and sensors (Germany), Broadcom touchscreen controllers (USA) and so on and so forth?
Do you realise why so many companies are assemblying their devices in China? Tip: not because China makes those components, but because supply chains are much faster and it's very easy to contract cheap labour fast and scale up or down equally fast. It's not just the cheap labour, the cost of labour in phones is rather small compared to the cost of components and securing a steady supply chain that matches your deadlines and your market expectations.
Would it be possible to have a "closed source" android OS with many settings disabled(can be unlocked at user's discretion but comes factory locked)? I was thinking many normies don't use more than half of the settings on android anyway might as well disable it and make android more snappy. Basically, re-skinned, and heavily modified version of android that sacrifices functionality for increased UI performance and stability. Users still have access to many apps on android market but many(that requires SU or what have you) will be unavailable.
Apple is a shitty company who runs their business like a cult.
They have scammed people out of so much money. It's important to constantly hate on Apple in order to save others from the scam.
>But if apple would really vanish, then prices for android would go up.
>>But if apple would really vanish, then prices for android would go up.
Samsung is the only Android phone maker making a profit. But Samsung's premium phones are similarly priced to Apple's.
Apparently, the other Android makers don't think they can compete profitably in the premium market. But they are making losses in the race-to-the-bottom market anyway.
Samsung is keeping Android phone prices low to suppress competition.
Yes, I want idiot proof custom ROM if you will. I'm thinking what Apple did to UNIX:minimalist/metro style UI with locked settings(but mine can be unlocked) and add it to a Chinese OEM phone(emphasis on sleek design) and I think i can offer something unique to the android phone market. Entering a phone market is hard since creating an ecosystem is difficult and time consuming(look at windows phone, its almost a meme with very limited apps compared to IOS or Android)
I'm planning on offering a "high end' android below apple C series phone price and has expandability of android (ie sd card slot and battery) Unlike apple my phone would be compatible with many of the android accessories.
BRIC, or emerging markets. Many of the Chinese/Taiwanese phones have shitty design that resembles that of iPhone or Korean Flagship models. If my idea integrates well I could see that my phone could do well in the domestic market for buyers looking for well balanced phone between design and performance.
>But if apple would really vanish, then prices for android would go up.
You do realize that it's way more fun though to use the IR blaster since you can fuck around with TVs anywhere. I have every single TV i can find added to mine. Sometimes when I'm bored i see how many TVs i can turn off at once in a store or in people's houses
I have an S6. Any features i don't use i have disabled. I am using the Google launcher with a black Samsung theme so all my Android menus are black for that sweet sweet amoled goodness. Shit is tight.
>hurr it's a phone guys not some kind of media device, it isn't capable like that. You guys need to carry a separate mp3 player with some koss headphones like me. Want to get together and rub thinkpads sometime?
You're so gay.
