Nvidia and AMD are pretty evenly matched on the GPS side, but the 970 is a meme, go with a 980ti if you really need nvidia

There is a lot more support in general for Intel cpu . for exemple if you ever want to install OSX for fun you wouldnt be able on a AMD cpu

Also, Intel cpu are much more efficient in the way they work and much more optimized. They work less but get the job done faster (That last part is what a friend of mine who study in computer engineering told me so can't testify that a 100%) But for the GPU, AMD are cheaper and it works great.

I got the same cpu, same power source but lower wattage. I don't game so I got a $30 graphics card that has 3 different outputs, and went with stock cpu fan.

If i gamed I would have spent more to get the nice intel chips.

If you're spending that much, get a seasonic psu instead of corsair

It's worse performance than the R9 390 for the same price, has less than half as much VRAM (3.5 GB vs. 8 GB on the 390), and worse DX12 support, including no support for async compute, a basic and very important DX12 feature.
The only advanatge the 970 has is the lower power consumption, but the disadvantages compared to the 390 far outweight that one advantage.

Also, if it's slower than its only competitor, that's not good price/performance.

If you're within 900$ I would recommend an R9 390, and something like an i5 6500 or an i5 6600K depending on your budget.

AMD GPU's are 10% faster and they somewhat future proof because of VRAM.
