What photo editing software does /g/ use and why?
>>

Photoshop cs6 because it just werks
>>
For anyone and anything that matters: Adobe Photoshop CS6.
>>
Photoshop CC.

this

gimp, does what i need it to do

GIMP literally does nothing except have a stupid gay name :^)

Not a botnet that requires a subscription.

CS6 and Lightroom.

GIMP
I'm too lazy to pirate Photoshop

A botnet that has a (optional) subscription.
You dumb nigger?
>>
>>52610605
i hope you realize the protocol is called bittorrent as well, right?
>>
>>52610613
Didn't specify that did you?
>>
>>52610467
PS CC 2014, because its a business tool so the subscription fee is a tax write-off

GIMP looks like it was designed by a blind programmer so I've never tried it for more than a day
>>
>>52610630
don't attack people on an assumption
>>
>>52610604
so, whats new in this version? also is it a beta and why does it look so much different than mac?
>>
>>52610658
Looks pretty much identical to 2014
>>
>>52610630
He doesn't have to. The client is named after the protocol, it's your fault for assuming he meant something named after what he was talking about.

PS on Windows and Mac, always. It feels polished, I'm more productive with the way the UI is laid out, if I'm using a proprietary operating system there is no reason to not go balls deep into proprietary software.

GIMP on UNIX and GNU/Linux, because it's the next best thing, works well, can handle .xpm formats for making CDE wallpapers and WINE is a kludge.
>>
Mostly Lightroom with a few plugins, ocassionally Photoshop if I really need to fag out on a photo.
>>
Anyone else notice how slow CC2015 is compared to CS6? Also I'm having issues with slections and random small bugs with CC. Is it just me or has the quality dropped since CS6? Also, why is the excellent "save for web" legacy now? Wtf Adobe?
>>
i don't edit photos so i use verve to draw. way better brush response than photoshop.
>>
Can one even just purchase Photoshop outright these days?
>>
>>52611891
No, they went the subscription way.
>>
I use paint.net

i don't use it professionally and it suits my house needs
>>
>>52610467
Gimp
Does what you need, is free.

But go on and spend your money needlessly on shit you'll use "someday" cucks
>>
>>52611934
Pirated CS6 > Gimp

I run Photoshop through wine. This is my latest project (thing being turned in is missing the obvious).
>>
>>52611916
I also prefer paint.net. Does exactly what I want.
>>
>>52611959
>Does exactly what I want.

So does a $10 street walker if you give her another $10. But if you want an experience where you don't have to shower afterwards, try something a bit more upscale..
>>
>>52610467
I have both PS CS6.5 Ext and Gimp and find I prefer Gimp for most tasks.

Why does everyone that mentions GIMP thinks that we need to buy some kind of subscription for Photoshop?
>>
>>52612078
I find that I have to shower after I use Photoshop because it and GIMP insist on doing simple things in the most retarded and unintuitive ways.

Paint.NET has sanity to its design. Hell, even a 10 year old version of Paint Shop Pro is more straightforward and intuitive than Photoshop or GIMP.
>>
Photoshop when I require some heavy editing, Pixelmator when I don't need Ps's horsepower, imagemagick when I can avoid both.

uh-huh. have fun with that, jamal
>>
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but it seems the only one.

I've been asked to do some quick and dirty animating (2d, basically glorified .gif), and I have no experience whatsoever. Do any of you have preferred programs, or anything else I could look into?
>>
>>52612078
In the time it takes to open PS/GIMP, I'm already done. For the usage I'm doing (small edits/fixes, colorization, noise reduce and stuff) P.NET is fine.

The same with CAS software, IDEs etc.
>>
>>52610545
Well, it is right in the name. GIMP (Gay is My Penis)
>>
Photoshop as I grew up on it, too lazy to learn others.

Everything else I've tried I get the nagging feeling that I could have done this faster or easier in photoshop.
>>
Paint.net, really.
>>
I have the whole Adobe CC Suite for free because of work. I ain't complaining. Although I've been thinking of actually downloading the CS6 versions because every single CC update seems to fuck up something. Every. Damn. Time. At least CS6 was fucking stable. CC is the cancer of Adobe Products
>>
Paint.net or Pinta depending on the os I'm using.
>>
>>52610477
>>
>>52612344
>CC is the cancer of Adobe Products

This. They are in the process of fucking it up.
>>
>>52612446
It's quite remarkable how they manage to fuck shit up with every consecutive update. My latest favorites are sudden audio sync and/or playback errors in Premiere plus the "unspecified error"-error also present in Premiere.
>>
>>52612486
Yeah. I've reverted back to CS6..
>>
>>52611950
Any major problems? Using CS6? last time I tried I just gave up and used a vm

I use Photoshop from my CS6 Suite.
>>
>>52612563
None whatsoever. I'm also using Intel cpu and gpu
>>
>>52612526
We've been wondering the same thing too at the office. It's a shame that the newer CC versions actually contain stuff that's worth using, like the quick masking options in Premiere are actually really handy and useful but FUCKING HELL, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER ADOBE. It's a shame that there really isn't any options regarding a similar suite of applications.
>>
>>52612563
And yeah, using cs6
>>
>>52612647
I share your frustration.
>>
>>52612679
Thanks for the info ill give it a go again
>>
>>52610535
Why does every freetard believe in these shitty programs? Same as inkscape etc.
Adobe is on top for a reason, proprietary system is the only one that works for now.
>>
>>52613172
i've used inkscape for work purposes before, nothing wrong with it
>>
>>52613172
What's wrong with inkscape?

Paint.net

>>52611950
I did that for a while. After I got used to gimp, I gradually forgot the ps way. Now using ps is frustrating and I hate it.
There's nothing wrong with gimp, no matter what the shills and baby ducks say.

I use GIMP. I hate Adobe, and I can't get into any other image editing software, because I just don't like it. GIMP is comfy for me and I can do much more than all those Photoshop kidies can with their shitty software.
>>
>>52610477
came to post this
>>
>>52616478
>I can do much more than all those Photoshop kidies can

thats not really hard though
>>
>>52611821
CC 2014 worked as good as CS6 for me, after I updated CC to 2015 it fucked everything up, it became sluggish as fuck, also that design made me consider suicide.
They fucked everything up.
>>
>>52612094
It's the only straw they can grasp at.that isn't totally subjective.
>>
>>52616478
kek
>>
I have a CC subscription so Photoshop.
>>
>>52611821

Legit version of CC2015? Mine has been working great and is as fast as ever.
