>windows has an annoying watermark to activate it
>read forum stating to contact MS support
Jesus Christ, I'm just going to pirate 8 and upgrade again to 10
Be glad you're not dealing with apple support
>No change I could get "Install OS X Maverics.app"
>No sir, we do not support downgrades, they're impossible, they would crash your hard drive
>One, do you seriously think macbook airs have hard drives
>Yes they do
>Two, I've just DD'd my SSD to zero.
>It is now utterly clean, how would installing a fresh operating system crash it
>Sir, it's a hard drive, and downgrading crashes your hard drive
Then the bitch hung up on me.
I have it on fucking tape.
>you are motherboard
What you need to do is reinstall Windows 8 with the Windows 8 key which you should have saved or you might be able to get with an application and then upgrade to Windows 10 again.
Though that actually might not work either because Microdicks.
>Switch to Insider Builds
>Get updates faster
>Don't need to have a valid license as long as you remain in the Insider program
There is literally no downside.
It's been two years and I've only done like 240 times the drives size.
It'll be fine.
On top of that, I didn't actually, I was just saying that to get her to cut the shit.
Works fine in actual stores, works half the time over the phone with retards.
Sadly I didn't have my phone on speaker at that point, I hope it's not too faint.
FUCK, I held the phone up to my ear for that part.
I'll see what Audacity can do.
>It's been two years and I've only done like 240 times the drives size.
i'm pretty sure he's referring to secure erase
it's safe to dd to an ssd, it's just that wiping an ssd is more effective with secure erase, if only because it will also mark wiped blocks as free as well (the distinction between a zeroed and free block only exists on ssd's)
I upgraded my motherboard and cpu a few weeks ago. Up until that point, I was worried that I would need to crack or buy a new licence since I had the system builder licence. Something happened during the install/verification though and my new motherboard and cpu are still using the old OEM key. Thank you Australian internet
I'm going to tell you how to give microsoft the finger right here, right now. The same bullshit happened to me after a few upgrades to my system and when I tried asking them to reactivate it for me, they basically told me to fuck off. What you are going to need to do is download a tool called KMS Auto net, it activates your windows for you, and microsoft can't do a thing about it. just be aware, when you do this AVG detects one of its background services as malware (which i doubt it is) but i removed it just to be safe and my windows is still activated. ill send screenshots of what it looks like.
From the sounds of it she basically said "we don't support that" even though they do since that version of mac is most likely totally within the ability of that system
then she keeps saying "it'll crash your hard drive" which is a load of shit, completely made up
This is gold. I'm on a W10 PC right btws, this is still fucking gold. Why didn't you just upload the file dawg, making ME DOWNLOAD SHIT ON MY COMPUTER THE FUCK.
Yeah, Apple has to support shit up to 5 years of when it was first released, then it goes into "Vintage" mode (The fucking words these assholes use) which means they'll help you but at a COST especially if its hardware, which basically means get prepared to get your asshole spread from the floor to the ceiling, after 7 years its completely obsolete and they can and will refuse to help you.
Then why do WEBMS. + sound work on /wsg?
I tried, I think my browser must be said to automatically download, don't know. Let me try it in another browser, see what happens.
just torrent it
assuming the torrent is unmodified, there's no difference, mac os has no serial numbers or activation or anything, and of course there's nothing dangerous about downgrading whatsoever
if you're concerned about dodgy torrents, then just go on ebay or something to find a mavericks dvd
>tech support hanging up on a customer
Clear out the noise and upload to youtube desu
>start with windows 7 home premium
>pay for windows 8 pro upgrade key
>upgrade to windows 10 pro
>windows 10 unactivated
>contact ms support
>they try to explain to me since I started with windows 7 home premium they are going to give me windows 10 standard
>conversation took 30 minutes
>download windows 10 pro preactivated
>took 5 minutes
it's like they want us not to pay for their software.
anyway, you can just download windows 10 pro pre-activated, you don't need to upgrade from windows 8/8.1 anymore.
-- oh yea, to use it, just open up disk utility, and "restore" the dmg (it's a compressed disk image) to a usb drive or dvd, then boot from it (typically hold "c" during power on with the disk inserted)
>"YOU ARE MOTHERBOARD!"
I did that instantly on the next call.
I was looking for an unmodified "Install OS X Maverics.app" which fucked me over because it's just a folder and I couldn't check the hash on it.
Ontop of that, I could hardly find any because I was looking for an app, not a dmg.
>assuming the torrent is unmodified
This is what gets me.
I'd rather have a copy I knew hadn't been touched.
>then just go on ebay or something to find a mavericks dvd
Thought it was download only, but I'll check.
If I'm gonna be using this on all my machines for years then I'd like to have a good copy.
I'll download it anyway, seems handy to have, thanks anon.
Motherfucker I'm Australian, this accent isn't fake
Would be nice, I trust a random anon more than a torrent site desu.
I can do you one better OP. I can give you all editions of W7 ISO.
You don't belong here, Jared.
You've never belonged here. Leave.
you could use this to check if a downloaded copy is unmodified;
he posts the sha/md5 checksums of the main install dmg
if the checksum matches, then it is practically gauranteed to be unmodified
Welcome to my world, OP! I've been bitching about this for months.
My Asus 990FX died. Actually, Fallout 4 appears to have stressed it and revealed issues with multicore (8350). The weird thing is that I regularly ran VMs doing a bunch of stuff. Oh well.
I put in an MSI mobo. Windows happily booted up and found the new drivers. Then it started complaining about activation.
I ended up on the phone with them for a minute (after navigating their wildly fucked up website that DID NOT WORK) before getting pissed, hanging up, reformatting reinstalling 8.1.
Actually, I'm dual booting now. I only boot 8.1 for gaymen. Windows isn't reliable enough for me to depend on anymore. All my Win dev is done in a VM now. If my hardware dies, I just take the whole VM to a new host.
I don't need to be down for two days while clients are waiting because Microsoft's shitty DRM fucked me.
>you're mother board
They've also been doing this for quite a while, if you for example bought Windows 7 as the system builder version, the key locked itself to the Motherboard ID
>They've also been doing this for quite a while
No they haven't.
When, in the past, has an UPGRADE attached itself to your mobo?
I had Win 8 Pro upgraded to 8.1 Pro, upgraded to 10, which was, at that point, locked to my mobo. At no prior point was it locked to my mobo.
