I ordered some 18650 batteries for a flashlight and 1 out the 4 I ordered is kill. Looking to order a decent flashlight to mount on my bike, probably try some more batteries. I might order a powerbank and some xiaomi pistons. Suggestions?

Ordering 18650s from chinese sellers: Thumbs down

Try to find a seller in your country that dissassembles new laptop batteries. There's one seller in the US I use but I'm not giving his name away because I don't want competition driving the price up too much.

Looking to buy a tablet, around 8 inch or so. Currently the chuwi hi8 or hi8 pro looks pretty good, but it's hard to find a decent review. I've also never had a tablet myself, so I'm not totally sure what the giveaways of a bad tablet are. Anyone here know of good chink tablets?

I've got this Chinese tablet which has a shit Wi-Fi chipset/antenna.
I'd like to use an USB one (not USB3, that generates noise in the 2.4Ghz band) as replacement, preferably one that can do 5Ghz.

>>52600608
I have a few from China that have worked great. But then there's always a few duds. unfortunately in Canada the prices on those seem to be sky high already.

I once got a battery that was literally a plastic tube filled with epoxy and sand.

It's okay I guess. The suction cups don't do a great job of holding your phone in place though. I'm going to add some rubber bands or something.

Owner of i7 stylus here.
It's a very good tablet (actual fast SSD, Core-M, wacom digitizer for pressure sensitive pen), but the Wi-Fi is a bit shit sometimes. It's only 2.4Ghz, and either the chipset or the antennae are crappy.

You can use a USB3>Ethernet dongle though, or just a normal USB antenna

Looks interesting. I bought my ifixit set for $22, at $16 that's not really a huge difference to justify the risk for me.

Let me know how it feels, bit quality etc if you decide to get it. Since it's still decently expensive there's a chance it's just a ghost shift, the shape and molding look identical to mine except for the garish colors.

i bought a few fittings from a chinese seller on aliexpress and ended up getting like 12 PETG tubes and 16 fittings. i would have kept it but ultimately taking on a PETG tube custom loop was just too time consuming for me and i agreed to just ship the order to the right person. he's covering the cost of my shipping by adding a few extra fittings so i'm currently waiting on like 9 fittings and 2 wired leds for my xspc block.

Only if Verizon lets you register your phone on their network. They don't usually allow this. CDMA (Verizon/Sprint) is cancer, GSM is way better.
>>
>>52603956
I wish where I live I could have a carrier that is halfway decent that is GSM. Here in this section of the Midwest the main choices you have are straighttalk(shitty and runs off of Verizon towers), verizon(good service but it is verizon, so expensive), and sprint(no experience with them, but I know from friends they don't have as much support as Verizon here)

Any tips or recommendations for buying a set of earbuds on ebay? (I prefer to use ebay instead of ali, don't mind paying slightly higher prices for the buyer protection and all that etc.)

I tried the piston 3's but they did not go deep enough into my ears.

I work in a factory so more isolation is better.

I love mid-bass (punk bass guitar), don't really care too much about sub-bass and I can't stand harsh treble or mids. Sound quality is really secondary to isolation and sound quality for this application anyways, I already have some nice studio monitors.

I'd ask HPG but I feel they'd recommend some expensive shit that I couldn't tell the difference anyways (former musician, hearing loss)

I have a note3 that I got through Verizon when I started my contract, so I don't see why not.
However, I recommend against getting a contract with anyone, ever. This was my first smartphone and it has been two long years of regret. I'm going back to a feature phone when the contract is up in July and I will never look back.

The Note 3 is a solid phone. I've dropped it and thrown it all over the place and the thing has a nothing but dented/flaked corners to show for it - screen is absolutely fine. But I do not need a smartphone. There are some cool things, but they are little more than gimmicks to me. I send text messages and make phone calls and that is it. The only data I make use of is google maps. I will miss it, but I know how to use an atlas and pre-plan trips so I will survive.

I think the underlying flaw is the sideways design, I have the same problem with all of those types. My favorite buds ever were the kind that were just straight-on, but it doesn't seem like the current crop of meme-buds accomodates this.

I may have to just hunt through IRL stores to find some like those again.

The wired mice are all super simple and reliable, it's the wireless ones that are a crapshoot sensor-wise.

1.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Small-Wired-USB-Scroll-Wheel-Optical-Mouse-for-PC-Laptop-Computer-/271881811700

I'm happy using this, does everything I expect a mouse to do with no weird glitches or anything. It plays half-life and cs 1.6 just fine, I'm no competitive placebo though so I can't promise it'll up your frags per second or whatever. Two buttons, scroll wheel w/middle click.

2.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-Thin-USB-1600DPI-Wired-Optical-Mouse-Mice-FOR-PC-Notebook-SN-/151832484281

The wireless version of this mouse sucked so much fucking balls (shit, jittery sensor even on a mousepad) that I don't even want to try the wired version.

3.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Portable-Extensible-USB-Wired-Optical-Gaming-Mouse-Mice-For-PC-Laptop-/331751676200?hash=item4d3df0d928:g:v-cAAOSwa-dWk1fc

These mice are pretty cute as little gimmicks or conversation pieces. They work just fine, but they are so tiny you won't really want to game or do precision stuff with. might be good paired with a netbook.

5.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-4Ghz-Adjustable-2400DPI-LED-Optical-Wired-Gaming-Mice-Mouse-For-Pro-Gamer-/262092860411

Mine isn't exactly like this, but has the same funny LED inside. It "breathes" when sitting still, and the led changes color in response to your mouse movements. Mine doesn't have the side buttons like this one does. I have no complaints about the sensor or scroll wheel, only thing that feels a bit off is that the mouse is very light for the size it is. I would prefer a denser mouse.

I haven't tried anything over $5. The fact that you're looking for "wired, for sure" might mean you're looking for something on the higher end of the spectrum, maybe, which I don't know anything about.

The three mice I like (1,3,5) all suit my
mousing-needs just fine. If nothing else, just stock up on those $1.51 adequate mice so you have a stash of spares/client mice/traveling etc. You can literally buy like a dozen of them for the price of a single logitech.

>second largest economy in the world,
>show me the bubble (nope, China's growth is real, because the country is still developing and has a long way to go to reach Western standards of living),
>ventures in Africa have brought greater progress in terms of infrastructure than anything the West had done in the 20th century, and none of it is anywhere near as brutal and exploitative as colonial activities in the 19th century.

No, China is neither saving nor bringing down the world economy. But as the balance of power shifts from West to East of course you will feel it.
China is churning out highly trained university graduates whose schooling standards are still increasing and at this time dwarf what we ask of our students in the West, either at the high school level or the undergraduate level.
China's high-tech manufacturing sector is burgeoning. You needn't look further than Japan, Taiwan and South Korea to see a blueprint for the next 20 years of China's manufacturing sector. Western high-tech companies will have their work cut out for them.
While Western nations today wallow in guilt and try to extricate themselves from the moral maze of their decadence, the Chinese actually believe in their "Chinese Dream" that with hard work their country will be great again and they will enjoy long, peaceful and prosperous lives.

What you are witnessing is merely the restoration of the balance of power: for centuries now the West has enjoyed an uncontested hegemony over world affairs. Western wealth and comfort has been built on the sweat and toil of weaker and more impoverished peoples. It is merely natural that as the balance is restored, as these other nations regain their strength, we see ours diminish or at least stall.

>>52619848
Our last PM, Harper invested all our money in oil. So much so that our dollar is now tied to the values of oil, rn oil is really cheap for a lot of reasons so our dollar is pretty low.

There is also the fact that other than oil, we also export a lot of natural resources to China, the Chinese economy going kind of low rn, the amount of resources bought lessen, making the demand for Canadian dollar worldwide lessen.

And this is partly why our dollar is so low.

have you tested it thoroughly? i.e discharge graphs, IR thermometer readings, etc? How much of that $55 was the charger thing, and how much were the cells?

I tried a $15 power bank shell (6 cell) and was rather disappointed with it, it was supposed to do 3.3 - 12v but only the 5v output ended up working.

I have 8 or 10 2900mah Panasonics just laying around at the moment so the cells would be "free" to me. Would be sweet to have a powerbank that would work for my memepads as well.
>>
>>52624270
Batteries were 24 CNY each
Power bank was around 200 CNY, including a 60W 19V charger

The voltage output seems to be kind of off, maybe around +0.4V or so at the lowest point, and getting slightly more accurate as you increase the voltage output. I haven't tested it while on load, though.

It gets kind of warm while charging at ~32W and discharging at >40W, but I've done 60W for thirty minutes straight and it reached maybe 45°C near the top where the connectors are.

I haven't really tested it thoroughly but from what I can see it works well for the price and that the batteries I got were also close to their design capacity, based on some rough calculations.

I sell those in my store, it doesn't have an official app, so you need to find one that works with your phone from like 20 generic ones, once you find it, its pretty decent for $10.

A must have if you need both hands to work but still need to make phone calls while working, the battery is meh, 16 hours if you do calls, 2 days max if you dont actually use it, and the notifications in some models just make the sound from your phone to come out from the watch, while other version actually make the watch vibrate, nearly impossible to know what version you're buying.

tldr Buy it only if you need hands free calls, if you want notification reminders get the Xiaomi MiBand.

Small list of shit I bought so far(might do a better list if there is another thread):

LG G2 D800 32gb (Refurb) - Everything working except NFC since the backplate was from a LS980, battery was almost new, Price: $159 almost a year ago. Sold it to a friend.

Pipo W2F (Win8.1 tablet 2GB/32GB 1280*800) - Works pretty good, except for some heating when updating or using it for a long time, battery is supposedly 4500mah and lasts 5 hours while browsing, and about 7 if using offline, watching videos and reading books/comics. Price: $114 a year ago. The shipping was probably the longest I have waited since it took 3 months to arrive to my house.

Syma X5 (Drone) - Cheap drone good for training, came with an extra set of blades, 1 500mah battery and 4 650 mah batteries. Price: $45 ($39 with coupon). Bought on 11.11

iPega 9023 (Extendible bluetooth controller) - Controller with 3 modes, for windows/android, ios and media. Don't really use it anymore, works great on emulators, ok for fighting games and not good for shooters. Price: $31.

Miscellaneous:

Replica watches, Survival Wristbands, Women jewelry, Xbox 360 Charge and play cables, Orico 2.5 HDD enclosure Usb 2.0 and another one USB 3.0, Orico charging hub 2x 2.1A and 2x 1A, various cellphone cases, cellphone batteries (don't really recommend), Wifi + BT 4.0 Combo Mini Pci-e, Arduino CH340 kits, bluetooth hc-05 modules, presence modules, ultra bright leds, resistor kits, dupont cables, watch dogs leather jacket with cap, Bluedio BS-2 speakers, otg cables and usb hub, air mouse keyboard combo, AWEI Q9 (bamboo headphones).

I like buying cheap Chinese (less than about $8) crap off of eBay and aliexpress.
Of the tech related stuff I've bought:
Recently I bought a tiny adjustable wrench keychain
A blacklight LED torch
A cheap scalpel and blades set.
Before that I bought a retractable ethernet cable.
An ethernet splitter (hunk of junk; I was hoping to be able to use it to passively sniff packets on the wire, but pugging it in kills the network. Top kek that people make these themselves for > $10 when you can buy much more compact ones for < $1)
A new mouse pad
Some female sex toys (vibrating egg that broke after a couple uses and a USB rechargable "wand" for $7 that's still working a year on).

When I bought the charger it came with a 1.8 amp charger
That's because wireless chargers are less efficient, so it needs more power

And I doubt the 0.5a you get out of computer USB ports would be enough to charge tbqh

What makes you think China will surpass the west? In the past differences in economy size were due to population size, so yeah, China and India, when taken as a whole, were large portions of the world economy, same as if you took the entirety of Europe.

In terms of industry and technology there was very little difference between nations as 95% of the population of every country was peasant farmers with no access to social mobility.

What we're seeing today is developing countries catching up with the western world in terms of development by learning how they can embrace or adapt similar models of development.

Otherwise there is no difference; China doesn't have different, let alone better, ideas in regards to development. If anythings China's autocratic government has organized the nation to develop quickly but it remains to be seen if it will be anything but a liability once China is developed. If China wants to be more developed, it will require better technologies, better systems, better human capital, developing with the same ideas is not sufficient.
