I have a one plus one but my camera is fucked up, so I'm looking for a new phone. I prefer a 5.5 inch screen and a very good camera. I was thinking about getting an iphone 6s, but I'm iffy about going to iOS and losing the ability to customize my phone. What should I get?
it doesn't bend/crack randomly, the bend/crack meme is being pushed by iphone fags because the 5s or 6 bent in a few people's front pocket
these "bend tests" they do on youtubers nowadays is purely for enjoyment.. do you see any instance where you'll need to use every ounce of your strength to bend your phone?
NEVER put ANY phone in your back pocket, just fyi
I came from a note 3 to a v10. Other than the camera, can't tell much of a difference in performance. A little, but not much. The sd slot and removable battery is the only thing that kept me from the note 5
Best phone available tight now imo, but there are some issues with the build quality you should be aware of.
Many people have had the phone bend for them, the glass on the back randomly shatter, and the sides of the phone peel apart.
No, I'm not joking. Google any of those problems and you will find people complaining about them. That being said, it seems to be a very small amount of users with bad luck. Other than the questionable build quality it has very nice specs and software/aftermarket dev support.
had an s6, moved up to a 6p. it's noticeably bigger, but i was used to the g3 i had before the s6, so it wasn't too much of a step up. play around with a note 4/5 for a while, cause the sizing is about the same as the nexus.
I upgraded to a moto x pure (5.7 in) from a droid razr m (4.3 in).
There was a huge difference for me initially, but after a couple of days it felt normal. It'll probably be an even easier transition for you.
Best place to buy an iPhone 5S that's in excellent condition online? Would you guys recommend getting a refurbished one? I'm pretty skeptical and want something reliable.
Any other similar phones you guys recommend with good cameras?
Why would you buy something so fragile? I sometimes sleep with my phone in my pocket and 6p would probably explode under that kind of strain. Nobody reasonable is buying your faggot phone.
If you really care about the camera so much then get a windows phone.
The g4 will probably have a better camera than the OPX and the new moto g since its in a completely different price range, but those phones should have acceptable cameras as well.
My wife has one. I have an iPhone 6, and while it's definitely bigger, it doesn't seem unwieldy. Build quality is great (don't bend it, good advice for any phone). Camera is excellent. Best Android device available right now? I think so.
Swappa. Don't bother with refurbished unless you get a viable 3rd party warranty like SquareTrade. Swappa is the place to get a 5S right now...but if you can wait until March even better.
Has anyone here with a Z5 (Premium/Compact) flashed the official AOSP rom onto their phone?
Are updates done the same way as on my Nexus 5? Or would I have to reflash every single time I want to update Marshmallow?
I used to have a Nexus 5 and loved the snappiness of it. Upgraded to a Z5 Compact and love everything about it, but I miss the snappiness of my Nexus 5. I feel like the OS is to blame, so I assume that flashing it with AOSP will make it as snappy (if not more snappy) than my Nexus 5.
Nexus 5 is shitting the bed in battery department, so I want to buy a powerbank
Is there anything else I should look for except for "storage", any must have models/brands or what to avoid ? Right now I'm looking at some Tracer 4-5k mAh powerbank that has 3 year warranty
Can't get Xiaomi
Just smashed up my S3 and looking for a new phone, contemplated the G4 but it seems a bit expensive considering I'd never use the camera and don't really need the 1440p. The main features I need are microSD support, at least 1080p, not a huge size, and an ability to root would be nice too. I'm not too bothered with the price but I'd like to aim for somewhere around £250.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You realise dumbphones are easily trackable as well right? Simply using a phone at all is suicide for this sort of thing.
The only way to do it is removing the battery when not in use and never using it in the same place/times as another phone.
Thanks for the suggestions but the red m8 feels a bit garish and I should probably have been more specific in that I want a 1080p display. (moto g's only 720p res but a 1080p camera)
nah, you made that clear, but i missed it. my fault.
the g4 was £225 online at vodafone, but now out of stock ring your local store? can be unlocked on ebay.
or there's the one plus x or vodafone smart ultra 6 (not sure about unlock, root available on modaco i think).
get the correct cwm for your device
flash it trough fastboot
flash rom, find something aosp that ISNT bloatmod
flash supersu if the rom doesn't come rooted
vlc, it supports a fuckton of different encodings. the more recent version have a somewhat bloated ui, 0.9.20 for one doesn't but isn't the most stable. it has great in-player ui though
just get an iphone desu
you won't regret it :^)
Help! Coming from an iphone 6s plus.
Want either note 5 or v10. Leaning toward v10
Nigga don't be making stupid choices. 6s ain't about the life withcu? If I were you I'd be waiting them jailbreak and have the most optimize piece of tech on my hand. Granted it's your money so if you want to change that hard then go note 5. V10 is about function with the added bonus of damn good camera. Form or function? You choose.
I'd pick the Note 5. Way better processor and screen, and the pen features are unmatchable. Cameras about equal. TouchWiz sucks, yes, but you can at least make it look like AOSP with the dedicated theme. LG's UI sucks balls as well, and the small meme screen is useless.
Is it possible to install apps to an sd card in Android nowadays? I'm currently using Galaxy S4 and in this phone it isn't possible. "Move to sd card" really just moves the app to the internal "sd card" which really is just another compartment of the internal memory.
>I sometimes sleep with my phone in my pocket.
What the fuck?
Guys, need to buy a new phone.
Was interested in Xperia Z3, Samsung Galaxy s5, but today I looked at Lg G Flex 2 and it didnt seem bad.
What do you guys suggest?
It could be anything different from the 3 I said, as long as they fit the budget and are good
Questions for anyone with the Moto X Pure: I'm moving from iPhone 6 to this (not abandoning iOS, my iPad Air 2 will remain at my side). Decided against the latest Nexuses (don't like Huwaei, like the 5X except for the storage options). Since there is microsd support, the base model of 16 GB should be fine, no? How much out of the box space do you have? I don't care about moto maker customizations, am I missing out on anything by buying from a local shop instead of going custom (don't care about accents or back color, I'll be putting a case on it).
I was thinking of getting a Huawei P8, but I learned it's CPU has shit performance due to idiots using A53 instead of A57. It also has a small battery. How long does it ;last on that?
Ignoring performance and battery, it seems like a decent phone.
Is there anything comparable in the same price range, with better performance and battery life? Card slot mandatory for me.
You might miss out on a discount or something buying local, but other than that you'll be fine. It's a nice phone. The vibration motor on mine is noisy as shit since I accidentally knocked it against a desk, but that was my fault. Still, you should be careful with it, even with a case.
You're really the only person that knows whether 16GB is fine for you.
be aware that with marshmallow, you have the option of combining the internal memory and external micro sd card as one - so the amount of the internal storage does not matter.
the only caveat is that the card will be 'stuck' to your phone - removing it will mess up your apps.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 from Sprint but I want to use it on AT&T. How do I unlock it so I can do that? Do I have to buy an unlock code or can I just swap out the SIM cards?
Looks like buying local I'd miss a free upgrade to an extra year of Moto's extended warranty, but Amex will take care of that automatically so looks like I'm buying tonight.
I suppose MM is smart enough to keep apps that have to be on the main ROM there and move everything else accordingly. I think I'll go 16 and pick up a 64 GB card; I mainly need the extra space for music and media, and I'm pretty sure Moto's camera has the option to save to SD automatically (unless that's gone in MM).
enjoy using your mobile data for ads
6P bending is literally a meme
It took a ripped guy all of his strength to bend the phone. If you're not a downs syndrome bodybuilder you won't bend your phone like that. Any phone will bend if you put enough force into it.
You are at the mercy of Sprint to unlock your phone. This is what you get for buying a phone from a carrier. Sometimes Sprint phones wont even include a GSM radio, so you might still be out of luck even if Sprint allows you to unlock it. You'd likely be okay though.
It is possible that your phone just includes a CDMAids radio, but it's probably more likely that it has the GSM radio included. So it should work. Again this is only theoretical, since it is a tossup whether Sprint will even unlock your phone.
According to the specs it looks like it supports the UMTS frequencies used by AT&T, so you should be okay.
Amen. I used to swear by MacBooks and Thinkpads, alternating every few years. Here I am time to upgrade and I'm probably going to go with Dell. I'd never have believed that before.
Specs don't really matter unless you buy a phone with tons of OEM bloat. A Samsung phone with Touchwiz will still feel sluggish and struggle with multitasking with the fastest SoC in the world, a Nexus device will feel fast even with a modest processor. Many people are still using the Nexus 4 and 5 to this day.
Quite a lot.
>Having ARMv8 (A53, A57, A72) versus ARMv7 (A15, A7).
Irrelvant, only cpu speed matters.
>RAM size (2, 3, 4, more).
Not as important as people make it out to be.
lenovo can get fucked after that sailfish bullshit.
really you want a snapdragon 801 at least. 810 had/has(?) heating issues. 4xx is low-mid-end, 6xx is mid-end, 8xx is high-end.
you want 2gb ram minimum.
64 bit arm doesn't matter much, yet, unless you want fast device encryption.
So it's better to get a faster 32bit one than a slower 64bit one? No downsides of 32bit? Is software support (including android versions) different between these?
Any other brands are OK? Like kirin or mediatek.
>So it's better to get a faster 32bit one than a slower 64bit one?
> Is software support (including android versions) different between these?
As far as I know, there's no 64bit exclusive software.
64bit matters mostly when you have more than 3GB ram
all android software is 32-bit. 64-bit will come, but you need at least 4gb ram to take advantage of it.
i've heard mixed views on mediatek. try and get a snapdragon 615 cpu if you can. if not the 801/808.
>Any other brands are OK? Like kirin or mediatek.
They are, but there's won't be much rom support.
kirin & mediatek - cheap and decent CPUs
Samsung & apple - expensive but better than qualcomm cpus.
No it certainly is real.
It's the reason 808 is a thing at all. 810 has 4 big cores and 4 LITTLE cores, and 808 has 2 big and 4 LITTLE.
That should be a huge difference, but it isn't because 810 throttles a lot because of heat. An 808 was almost as fast as a 810 at launch. The first 810 phones were really bad.
Newer phones with 810 have better heatsinks and software has been update, so these days 810 is okay.
Anyone had dealings with the RMA process with OnePlus devices?
I'm under the impression that it's not a good idea to close the PayPal dispute, as it's my only lifeline to getting a replacement or refund
How good is the camera & sound quality on this compared to the iPhone 6+? I'm getting really sick of iOS.
Is the Lumia 640 the best cheap windows phone to buy? Microsoft releases a ton of cheap devices and I don't know which one is better. I'm poorfag and I want to go back to use windows phone.
I get alot of use out of the meme screen. I use it to switch through recently used apps and web pages. Since you can swipe it, my most frequent contacts are there along with my most used apps. I can also activate the flashlight from there with the main screen locked.
I'm looking for a developer phone to use at work and as a daily driver. I have manlet hands and don't want a large phone.
The nexus 5x seems like a no brainer, but I'm more tempted by the Oneplus X because of its size, price, and the look of it. Does the oneplus have Marshmallow yet? How is the camera? Any issues I should be aware of?
>nexus 5 randomly turned off
>stuck in a boot loop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b5xJ_QP5xI
not my video but it's what's happening
what do? I have an extended warranty, so I'm hoping it's actually broken so I can replace it
My phone only has 16gb capacity and I want to download a 25gb torrent on it and then pass it to my computer.
Is it possible in any way shape or form to maybe divide the 25gb torrent into two parts of 12.5gb and download one, pass it to the computer, download the other part, pass it to the computer, and then join the two parts?
Looking for the cheapest phone possible that's just as good or at least a bit better than this fucking garbage
that I had since 2011.
I literally only use it for calling someone and viewing pictures (I save Google Maps screens there for viewing, since I can't afford any Internet provider for my phone). The only thing that matters to me is stability and reliability. The old dogshit phone I have keeps dying when I dare turn the screen off (not the phone off, that would be a whole other apocalypse) and I can't access the images half the time because of the "Gallery" software malfunctioning.
I'll probably be buying a new phone soon. I always bought flagship phones but they're a pain in the ass to root and you can't even use micro SD cards in most of them now.
Should I just go ahead and get a chinkphone? If yes, who makes the best ones?
I can get Xiaomi Redmi Note for 169 Euro.
Should I, or should I not?
I know Motorola's are a lot better/cheaper but they don't sell them in my country and I pretty much have to use a local physical store here due to time constants.
It's not even the bloatware that is the main cause of all the performance problems. Sure, it causes some of the performance deficiencies. But the main cause is touchwiz's handling of memory.
I use a stock debloated tw rom with tweaks to build.prop to keep many apps in memory. However, a side effect to this is that with every app opened, the interface becomes more sluggish. With 5 or fewer apps open, it performs comparable to cm.
Why are you trying to troll that dude
What's so bad about LG's UX? I've been using it for some time, and I don't get the complaints. It's a lot lighter than TouchWiz or Sense. It's closer to stock than both of them. Is there something I'm missing?
Need your advice /g/.
Currently I owe Nexus 6 but now I need a smaller phone now so I decided to change it. What should I get to be happy about it? I can change it to iPhone 5s 16GB or Xperia z3 compact. I'm not really sure what to choose. My priorities are battery life, smooth interface and reliability.
It's about the overall experience not just the SoC. The g4 has much better camera, better screen, but most of all better support from LG and third parties. MIUI is generally considered to be bad.
That said no one would call Mi4c low end, maybe someone would call it mid end but I would call it high end/flagship killer but not a real flagship like the g4 is.
z3 compact owner here. battery life is great, no hardware issues so far. the os is mostly stock. you can disable most of sony's stuff. some of it is good, like track id (ad-free shazam/soundhound) and screen mirroring. it's getting marshmallow - the beta has closed, but you can still get it on xda.
I'm thinking of getting a new smartphone
I currently have an ond potato one (Galaxy Ace i) and I am basically looking for a phone that would last me for another 5 years. I don't really care for specs but for customability and long term support (updates and so on)
It's a Nexus phone the way to go? What does /gee/ suggests?
hi , please help me , I just bought a galaxy s5 already used , is in good condition .
the problem is that under the sunlight ( not in enclosed places ) the screen blinks very fast . A keen eye notices . What can I do ?
What are your experiences with prepaid phone plan are there any you guys would recommend I plan on buying a redmi 3 but cant figure what prepaid plan would suit the phone best while being cheap but not useless.
I'll probably use it for around 2-4 hours with 4G during the day, then wifi at home until it gets down to 5%. Probably gonna put it in powersave mode for the majority of the time.
True. My N5 is 2 years old and still perfect. No lag, no crashes, average 2 days of battery life with normal usage.
I will never buy anything else than nexus if I want android. Everything else is a bloated shit.
I once wanted that too, but I decided to bite the bullet and get one with touchscreen only. I decided I'll buy a bluetooth keyboard for it, one hat attaches to the body. If not specifically for my model, I would adapt it.
If you don't care about specs, you could get Jolla plus OTK keyboard for it.
Third options are old (but still more modern than the N900) android phones.
I don't really care. For me, the only downside is that you can't swap it out after 2 years of use, when the capacity will have dropped considerably. But if the battery is still pretty easily replaceable, then I have absolutely no problem with it.
any good way to add player control to my volume buttons without rooting? I already tried a couple applications on the play store...
maybe something... like hardware adapters for headphones, something to add buttons or maybe a mic if such thing exists.
I'm on a galaxy s6 with a tech 21 impactology case and some MDR XB 1000 sonys.
but last time I checked the only available crack only worked on deodexed roms (so not on most stock) so you gotta pay without root. there's also this http://www_amazon_com/Koss-155954-VC20-Volume-Control/dp/B00001P4XH
I've never had a phone with a fingerprint sensor, seems super convenient but a lot of the phones I'm looking to upgrade to don't have one. People that use it, should I choose, say, oneplus 2 over the g4 just for the fingerprint?
Can't recommend nexus 5, battery life is too shit to handle
Is there an expected significant price drop for the G4 when the G5 comes out? I'm kind of itching to buy a G4 but I'm waiting for the new release so it'll be cheaper. If it doesn't drop much though I may just buy it sooner anyway.
Any opinions on having watched phone prices in the past? May it be worth it to wait or fuck it yolo buy now?
i'm going to buy the Passport, in my opinion it could last way more long than the classic considering the specifics. it is also not so difficult to change the batteries considering that are non removable
I'm trying to root my Moto g 4g, and I've already unlocked the bootloader, and installed teamwin recovery, and used that to install supersu, but now when I go to supersu on my phone, but now when I start up supersu it says "there is no SU bianary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it. This is a problem!".
How do I fix this?
Should I buy a Lumia 550 for 128€ or a Lumia 640 (Dual) for 165€?
I live in two countries so there's a slight chance that the Dual might be worth it eventually although so far I don't think I paid a lot extra from using the same card in both countries.
Toughts on BLU Life One X / XL for best budget phone?
Wait until Microsoft actually releases windows phone 10.
8.1 already runs like shit, I'm 100% sure 10 will fucking kill the budget phones. Rumors are that's also the reason why they're delaying the release.
Oneplus X is arriving tomorow
got it for 280$ with DHL shipping.
I can finally sell this piece of shit Iphone6 and im already smiling because of it.
I'd think so. Just picked up this up myself on Amazon. I'm impressed..
I heard its hard to get screen protector for opx since they tear off because of glass egdes. I'm also looking for phone and opx and opt is in list.
atm there isn't marshmallow rom, only for opt but they are still cant get source for fingerprint sensor. Opt should recieve OTA MM at first quarter
Because I read it's the best phone other than Motorola Motos for asocial losers like me. Since the Motorolas are not sold here, I have to go with either the Lumias or Huanwei Honor 4 (has an attached battery, do not want) or some other chink garbage phone whose name I can't remember, X-read something.
So i have a first generation moto g, and i've beeb thinking in upgrading to a OPX or a moto g 3, the thing is my moto g still works fine, except for the ocassional crash when a used 3 apps at once, so do i upgrade now or should i wait till later this year for the newer smartphones to come out?
It'd be a pretty big upgrade (2013 SD400 1GB RAM to SD801 and 3GB RAM). It will definitely multitask MUCH better.
OnePlus X would be what I would get if I was slightly budget constrained and needed a new phone, but I'm happy with my 5X. Only worries is that apparently the glass back which makes it feel premium is a little hard to hold.
