>studying computer science because I have no real interests and it's the default "good" degree of my time that will soon be over saturated because of the aforementioned
>whatever, I will be that person, I almost am anyway
>unexpectedly experience this amazing creative satisfaction in programming
>create personalized programs to improve quality of e-life, learn C in my spare time
>slowly lose that spark
>gradually find the entire practice arbitrary and tedious
>midway through Junior year, everything is nothing but rote memorization now
Is there any hope? I don't want to be a code monkey. How do I learn to love programming again?
It doesn't get any better.

That means "maybe" here.

No, the solution is to dig the hole with a more efficient tool

Same op.
I took CS in grade 10/11. Loved it, thought programming was interesting. Grade 12 CS was cancelled because no people wanted to take it. I lost my intuition from not doing anything CS related for a year. Subsequently I went to university for it anyways, where I realised that I lost that way of thinking I had.
FeelsBadMan, it only got worse throughout uni. Occasionally I was happy when I accomplished a task and it was easy/straightforward. But my spark to be creative is gone, and I realise how tedious programming is.
Anyways I graduated now because its not like I have anything else to do. But I really question what I'm going to do now.

I felt the same, and I'm about to finish my degree. Find a part time job (next to uni, like 10-15 hrs/week), I found it more fun than university

Stop using C.
I'm serious. The C family is a clusterfuck of tedium.
