I take it that 370 is THE price performance card, but it does seem strange to take it where noctua is cooling latest skylake and where $200 SSD sits

What single thing I would do is switch for i7-5820k build

currently mobo+cpu+heatsink cost ya roughly $510!!!

pump that in to six core i7-5820k that costs around $320 in micro center
and then theres GIGABYTE GA-X99-UD3P for mobo, a solid choice for around $160
add $35 for hyper 212 and you are at $515

Get that ssd down to 120gb and buy a better gpu(970(nvidia) and 390(amd)). You may also want to wait for polaris, next amd gen of gpus, they are coming at mid 2016

The only glaring thing I can see is that SSD is a waste of money. The performance difference between that and a $160 Samsung 850 will be minimal unless you get off on benchmarks.

That CPU is fine. /g/ hates Skylake, but LGA1150 is a dead socket so if you buy an 1150 motherboard now, you'll be stuck buying yet another motherboard after you upgrade.

And honestly, if Zen is successful and AMD actually puts some pressure on Intel, you can bet that Intel will release a "Skylake Refresh" that will yield a major performance boost.

Use the saved money on a better GPU , go for the R9 series instead of the R7 series. Maybe a 380-380X they are great for 1080p and even push a little at 1440.

You really do not need a Z170 motherboard and a Noctua cooler, youre better off going for a cheaper Cooler Master or similar branded cooler as long as its cheaper. Especially if you are not considering overclocking.

Protip: The pentium G3258 will overclock on "H" series motherboards, which also have raid capability unlike their "Z" series counterparts. Also AMD FX chips are really good for overclocking out of the box and are great for multithreaded tasking and general usage, they can distribute system processes much better than intel chips. Plus 16GB of ram is a bit overkill just get a 4x2 DDR3 kit, you will not get any noticable difference and you can upgrade to 4x4 in the future. Plus be careful when getting ram, prefer CAS latency over frequency.
