So /g/, the balance on my home theater system was messed up, but I think I found a solution.

Picture related.

Must be a pretty decent amp, bridging usually fries them.

Stop using shitty amps. The one in my truck is bridged and drives two 10's way too well.

With my PC hooked up to my samsung plasma via HDMI, I feel like the black levels aren't as low as they should be. I also sometimes get noticeable color banding. I'm always playing high bitrate bluray rips ~15gb x264 with MPC-BE or mpv. I get it with both players, so I'm thinking it has to be either a minor problem with encoding, or an issue with the TV?

Does it not come with a mic to do auto optimisation?

To fix balance, you can adjust the volume or delay(distance in your receiver), of the offending speaker. Delay is better because you want your speakers to be the same volume. Your brain will localize the sound towards the source it hears first.

Also if that heavier gauge wire is making that speaker louder, that means the wire you were using before wasn't heavy enough. Did the SL wire have to travel a longer distance than the SR wire? That's why you had problems.

Btw, it looks like your copper wire went through the front right positive knob. Get that shit back inside.

I use the cheap monoprice ones, they were on sale on their website, probably still are. You don't need them, but I hate having to recut cables because the screw knob fucks them up.

PCs and TVs use different RGB ranges or some shit. Change it from 0-255 or 16-235 in your video options.

oh wow this was it. The biggest issue is that MPC-BE was set to 0-255 but nvidia control panel was set to limited range. Looks way better now, thanks.
