NO BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO ASK A PROGRAMMING RELATED QUESTION BUT I FUCKING CAN'T NOW BECAUSE THERE A FOUR FUCKING THREADS AND I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THREE OF THEM TO FUCK OFF SO I POST IN THE RIGHT THREAD.
FUCK I FORGOT MY QUESTION NOW TOO, FUCK YOU.
This is what happens when you let generals go unchecked.
When they proliferate and become popular cliques and inside memes develop and bring down the quality of the content into the fucking mud up to the point where faggots start fighting to get their image in the OP which in turn drags the quality of the board further down.
Same thing happened with /hpg/ over the last few months.
Same thing happened over at /v/ as well which is why /vg/ exists
The issue with this is when you want to ask a question related to any of the general threads you will be told to go there.
There's nothing but inside memes and le ebin jokes in those cancer pits.
Maybe a consumer electronics board to keep /g/ tech news and software related while moving all the other threads over.
The point of /vg/ was not to magically fix /v/ just to get rid of the endless generals and the tripfags that spilled over to other threads
It was successful at that.
>last few monthss
/dpt/ image wars have existed for a long fucking time
Watch general belongs in /fa/
Desktop threads belongs in /w/ and /wg/
Tech support belongs in /wsr/
Consumerism needs a new containment board, I suggest calling it /shills/
/ptg/ belongs in /trash/
Gayming GPU discussion belongs in /shills/ or /v/
>One day, Hiro will ban anime in /g/
>desktop threads will return to their glorious gentoo and win10 shitposting
the true demise of /g/ correlates perfectly with the first big wave of bitcoin
we were flooded with normalfags and retarded profiteering consumerist businessmen who wanted in
bitcoin itself was thankfully purged to its very own containment board, but the people, the awful terrible evil people, never left
mfw bitcoin literally ruined /g/
But anime belongs in /a/ and boards that involve subjects with /a/-related content you fucking retard.
Technology is not devoted to anime in the legal marketing industry, therefore no anime in /g/.
So what kind of threads would you like to see dominating /g/?
As I see it, most non-general threads seem to contain very little knowledge and abundance of inane comments.
> All the other boards are for animu watchers
Then I guess /v/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /b/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /tv/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /x/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /r/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /f/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /ck/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /fit/ is devoted to entirely anime.
Then I guess /k/ is devoted to entirely anime.
THEN I GUESS /MLP/ IS DEVOTED TO ENTIRELY ANIME.
That would explain why he attempted to dodge questions and claimed the issue fixed itself when the front page was redirecting to malware sites.
why can't Jackie 4chan just make a /cj/ - circlejerking board and banish all these "generals" there
posting a screenshot of your computer or a picture of consumer electronics you bought contributes nothing of value to the board
The point of /vg/ was to kick marketers and circlejerk generals somewhere that wasnt /v/.
They still find ways aroud this by by mking generals that aren't genrals in name though. On some days there's at lest two generic Undertale threads, and before fallout 4 released /v/ was unbrowsable for me.
general threads aren't categorically the problem
they are sometimes necessary
properly used, they can be great
but this is not the case right now
they're a symptom of how recent adopters view the internet
this is what facebook and reddit have done to the minds of the children currently on /g/
i miss when the internet was cool and fun and everything wasn't so terrible
Generals are a symptom of the problem that are not dissimilar to a festering wound.
More often than not, if you leave it alone, it will grow into something terrible.
The best choice is to prevent generals from being created, and especially if it shows signs of being circlejerk chatrooms like VR threads are destined to be.
we are the maintainers of what should be a mostly self regulating community
it most certainly is our job
not to fix maybe, but to make them go away
this yelling for mods bullshit needs to stop too
they can't really do anything if you've already let a significant number of these people take root and come to believe that they've found a place to belong
i wish i saw more people being told to lurk more and fuck off
i wish said people had the brains enough to listen
