Here's the 1024*768 version I use on my Amiga. Don't know where I have the original. Use reverse image search or something.
fuck back off to /a/ with your anime rice papers
Just plain Intuition as it comes with AmigaOS 3.1. The textured window borders are provided with Birdie.
I wouldn't use an amiga as my primary computer. I gotta be able to do certain shit that just won't work so well (if at all) on a 24 year old box. It's certainly fun to play around with, though, so I guess that's my justification.
switched to windows 10 today from arch enjoy it so far but i have realized that i cannot live without linux so i am gonna dualboot
I have a Cybervision 64 graphics card.
Also an Arxon scandoubler, which is routed through the cybervision so that I can still run native graphics software without the need of a second monitor or manual switch.
IIRC Workbench prior to 3.5 only supports a palette of like 4 or 8 colors, and a little more with stuff like MagicWB.
Or was that really caused by some hardware limit?
I always thought it was a software limit.
Depends on the video modes and the chipset.
AGA chipset (as used in A1200/4000/CD32) could have up to 256 colours on the workbench. It's just generally not worth it as it eats up a lot of precious chipmem and destroys performance, although there's hacks like fblit/ftext that can improve this.
The Cybervision (and other RTG cards) bypass this limit by having their own graphics chip (CV64 has an S3 of some kind, iirc). They're not compatible with anything that bangs the chipset directly, but some cards (like the Cybervision64 and Picasso IV) have a passthrough input, so you can loop the normal video output into the RTG card and have it automatically switch when it detects the system trying to use a native mode.
Of course then you get the fuckery of whether or not your display supports the 50Hz vsync / 15kHz hsync the native chipsets spit out.
>AGA chipset (as used in A1200/4000/CD32) could have up to 256 colours on the workbench.
I don't mean the display mode.
I'm talking about the palette Workbench itself uses, i.e. amount of colors in window decoration, backdrop, icons, etc..
Yeah, true. I think you can only manually adjust the palette up to a certain point with the built in tools. There might be ones that allow you to adjust beyond that, but it usually can allocate things on it's own just fine I've found. Might be that BetterWB (which is a relatively light set of updates/additions to OS3.1) adds some things for this.
I do also have NewIcons which uses it's own palette separate from what workbench uses. That improves things as well.
I actually took a free domain to host it, replace the dot because 4chans thinks it's spam.
molecularu dot hol dot es
There will come a time when I will share the whole assets, put them on github or something, but I don't think they're good enough for the moment. Their size is quite big, too, because I host around a thousand pepe photos in the 'fun' section.
If you have any questions ask away.
Good morning, Desktop Thread
it does look similar doesn't it
OP is pretty cool
It's also needed to mention that it's a work in progress, so as a result I do not guarantee that it will render the same on all systems.
I've tried my best, though, by making it responsive.
your desktop is cool
what happens if you put my wallpaper into that script?
its only one colour right, so maybe something weird happens
Truly one of the worst feels.
that's actually a traced photo anime, like all those realistic background arts
good afternoon all~
thinking of changing things, but i'm quite complacent with this one, fufu
i also need to move the rest of my music onto this machine
you're in luck, i can't fall asleep
it tried really hard
>>52467644 cool and interesting
>>52467757 should show more than just terminals
>>52467773 one of the worst wallpapers ever, an annoying terminal colourscheme and 4chan css bordering on asinine.
>>52468552 clean and nice
>>52468753 stock with cool musicplayer
>>52470449 I saw those icons, very lame!
>>52470452 pretty alright , maybe even good
>>52470492 cool what you did here, some nice ideas
>>52470858 cool script that makes good colours
>>52470869 hmm, everything is put together just fine. I don't know what I would say if I was seeing the desktop for the first time.
>>52470881 no face on anime
>>52470887 orange Julius
>>52470934 its blue
>>52470959 someone should make something focused more around that style, I forget what its called but some western cartoons and the incredible to an extend used it.
>>52470980 not a fan of the wallpaper, but maybe its a style.
>>52471101 nice colours and everything
ha! proving once and for all that humans will never be replaced by machines in the field of making colour schemes.
I know, I know. Every music player is either ugly or doesn't offer enough hotkey functionality, so I'm stuck with AIMP4. Probably shouldn't show it on my screenshots though, I almost never actually look at it.
but I do like your desktop in general though btw
> a single good thing
M-muh gaems! I mean seriously, if it wasn't for gaems I would be using Linux right now. Not that it would make my rice any better, though.
bbZero RC6. Almost not bugged at all.
Good thing at least some people do, because I don't. List of things-to-fix has grown larger than it was two changes ago.
maki is too cute for that to apply
>someone should make something focused more around that style, I forget what its called but some western cartoons and the incredible to an extend used it.
around what style? you mean the wallpaper?
there is a site where i get those:
>>>52470881(You) no face on anime
You're not wrong. Here's my laptop.
"Its an architecture/graphic style often called Eames-era after the Eames brothers (Charles and Ray), but also relates to Euro Saarinen and the Mobilist Alexander Calder (and maybe the forms of Miro). It was very "space age", (The Jetsons) with modern boomerang and globular forms, and is now considered retro hip. A lot of artists brought it back into vogue in the 90s, and even the music of the era underwent a resurgence... like Esquivel (called space age lounge pop). The artist I most associate it with of recent is Ryan Hughes... http://184.108.40.206/cgi-bin/device2.cgi?action=ill ... but that may be just because I don't know who actually brought that style back into vogue before him. Also House Industries, the design and typography firm did a lot with that style including their House-a-Rama Eames era bowling alley font set (w/illustrations). http://www.houseind.com/ (Hughes also designed fonts in that retro style) Again, there's probably others who were the originators of the re-tooling of the style... but I just don't know about them."
I think part of the reason it came back was because of the advent of vector drawing programs. They made it easy and fun for desktop graphic designers to work in the style.
But the guys who did The Incredibles really took the Ryan Hughes type Jetsons art style to a new level.... or a new dimension, I should say... from 2d to 3d... which is why I don't think you will find much more art like the Incredibles out there. "
there you go
maki a shit
nico is one of the cutest animies, maki is middling at best
lmao you won't convince anyone with that argument
it's a good one, I'll give you that
a bunch of garbage, I don't think you should know

tfw reading Mongolian picture books @ work
I'd join but everyone would tell me I have bad taste in keions.
I've been trying to do something with Android for at least 2 and a half years now but whenever I start reading the developer docs I get so fucking bored that I give up.
the suns going to come up, goodnight desktop people
>Harry "Piru" Sintonen
Funland always had the best Amigafags.
I have a weird feeling. As if this place is a chat with desktops instead of avatars. Is this true?
We don't ask questions like that around here.
Friendly reminder that Maki almost always has cute nails, while Nico doesn't.
Maki > Nico
>Using a WM at all
>Not using just pure X
What OS are you guys using? I have an left-over PC and thought about checking out other systems than Windows. Any advices? I'm not good in programming though.
Gentoo / Arch Linux
There's a very large learning curve with these distros, so I'd recommend something you can't fuck up unless you're retarded or something, try out Ubuntu or Debian
work called in and asked me if I wanna do an extra day on Tuesday and since I'm shit at saying no to people I said ok.. rest in peace 2 days in a row off.
Just change the opacity of panel and tasks..
figured I'd go ahead and put linux on my desktop.
probabally going to switch over to i3 or something soon, DEs are annoying
fuck i forgot my desktop
at least I'm not using Wnidows
Honestly, aside of neckbeard tipping 1337 hackers professional opinion, unity is a very good, reliable, desktop environment that is also using your monitors vertical space most efficiently compared to any other desktop environment of this type. It lacks customization, on the other hand - does it even need customization other than changing gtk theme and a wallpaper?
>h-he is using a different distro than I am!
>h-he hasn't wasted 50 hours ricing it
>i-i know! I'll call him a Windows user!
Literally fuck off
You are cancer
I have no desire to rice my shit, because I'm lazy as fuck. Unity works for me, doesn't mean you have to try and berate me because I like using something that you don't like.
You're almost as bad as the autisms over at Reddit who mass-downvote shit that doesn't fit into the collective hivemind
going to bed soon.
1 more doctor who episode, i swear
i dont have a problem with reddit
I watched one season of Matt Stone and stopped. I know what they did, I know why they did it, but there is so little of what I liked about Dr. Who left.
I would say I am a little bummed but I am not. I hope you can still enjoy it.
nice desktops guaise, just using simple 1977 red theme from openbox here.
My problems are more with the story decisions and increased budget. Not to mention all the weeping angel episodes and that redhead and rrrrroooorrrrriiii~~. I stopped when they started talking about fixing gallifrey. Just from a character standpoint you don't touch that.
I remember a tree episode that particuarly rubbed me the wrong way.
look closer, the joke is hidden inside the console
You don't - windows has already setup to be the most modern and bleeding edge of designs, made to be out of the box immune to ricing due to its beautiful metro panels and down-to-earth look and feel.
best window color (in your humble opinion)?
shit show, I don't understand the hype
There was a guy with a username "dkeg" who was creating anti anime desktop threads on /g/ and was a genuinely rude person and his desktop was on unixporn according to google.
AFAIK he made that screenfetch thing that >>52479248 is using.
clearly you're a bastion of good taste, anon (sarcasm)
it would be interesting if someone could make a new thread in the next 3 minutes or so before I leave
unlike us, reddit just can't into original thoughts and ideas
Yeah, no. It's a real amiga 4000. (:
Yeah, Capaldi is great. I hope the writers have a turnover before he leaves, I want him to have at least one competent series.
Stylisticly, I think my favourite era is late troughton, lots of weird late 60's futurism.
