Why shouldn't I use elementaryOS on my main machine without delving into privacy autism?
>>52459278
nice language you faggot
because its shit
>>52459278
Does it do everything you want or need it to do? Do you like using it?
If so, use it.
>>52459278
It's a crude amateur imitation of OS X. After using the real OSX, I can never go back to any variant of desktop Linux.
Having said that, see >>52459316

>le REAL, TRUE OS X is BEST operating system, fuck filthy poor PLEBEIAN linux meme
>>52459278
Because it tries to be something it's not, and fails at it. I used it for a week before I switched back home.
>>52459278
its broken as fuck

>>52459492
OP here. What's home to you? Your browser looks nice btw
>>52459278
looks like shit

Maybe "real" was bad phrasing. My points were:
* It is obvious where eOS is taking design inspiration from, and it isn't doing a great job.
* I personally find that OS X overall (meaning not just aesthetics but also UX, consistency, polish, quality of typical third party software, etc) is leaps and bounds ahead of any desktop Linux distro.
Also, I don't own a single piece of Apple hardware. I'm a poorfag who hackintoshes. No elitism here.

>arc + simple white
my literal nigga
>>52459278
Try it, you'll see for yourself why it sucks ass.
I couldn't even last for 1 hour after installing it.
When you open several instances of the file manager, each one opens as a new tab, and not a new window.
It makes navigation a pain in the penis.
This and some other issues made me regret my choice instantly before switching back to Arch.
>>52459538
Fedora 23, everything justwerks in function and design. I've tried all the other popular distros but this one is home.
>>52459647
Arc?
>>52459316
This is the right answer.
Plus, you'll have literally 0 privacy problems. eOS doesn't collect data in any way.
>>52459278
It's shit, the eOS devs are merely designers. Besides Pantheon is just a GNOME rip off. Try Ubuntu GNOME instead, you'll have much better support and a more stable DE. Enable the TopIcons, Dynamic top bar and Dash to dock extensions to make it more eOS-ish.

Outdated packages mostly is what keeping me from using it.

Devs basically told everyone who doesn't pay for their free open source OS are thieves.
>>52462822
Post wall?
>>52463783
It is pay what you want system so, you're lying (?)
>>52464828
No, the devs made a blog post bitching about a lack of donations per download. Trying to guilt trip people into donating.
Its the only desktop linux that has future. The real reason why /g/ doesn't like is that it's not hacker enough
