My girlfriend's daughter's school has all their exams using Linux live usb sticks. You need to provide your own laptop. There's a long list of compatible laptops.
Which laptop should I get her?
little bitches love dat touch screen
and if everything they need is on a live USB drive then why bother with a more expensive laptop
Chromebook is a bad idea for this particular case since it would be used to boot live Linux distros.
Any Chromebook, even the x86 ones, need some tinkering (if even possible at all) to boot external media.
In other words:
Just buy any laptop that has at least 4GB of RAM, a non-broadcom wi-fi chip and USB 3.0.
Intel or AMD are okay, just try not to lowball too hard. Anything 500 USD and up should be more than okay though.
In all seriousness I'd get an Elitebook from eBay. I've owned like 3 Elitebooks with i5 CPUs and they're bretty gud. They're like $200 from business surplus sellers and they're plenty fast. The body is made of aluminum and the keys are coated with some shit so none of it gets shiny. They also have excellent Linux compatibility.
This depends. How hot is the daughter?
>my girlfriend's daughter
>what laptop should I buy her
All these recommendations aren't really much cheaper than a used Mac. I looked at the oldest Mac on the list, MacBook 13-inch, Core 2 Duo, Late 2009 and I can get it for €50 more than the Dell (€250). I think I'll go with that since she already has an iMac at home.
>Talks about how people should just "Listen and believe" and not actually think about what she's saying
>Claims that literally EVERYTHING is sexist
>Claims debunked by critics long ago, but criticism is naturally classed as "muh soggy knees" by her fans and never addressed
>This mental diarrhea nobody is allowed to criticize getting a following somehow means she has a brain
Getting a following doesn't mean that what you say is in any shape or form intelligent. Glen Beck and other similar right wing "commentators" have a following, but we all know what kind of mental diarrhea they keep spewing year in and year out.
God I wish she had just kept being annoying to fans of film and TV and stayed away from games, which she has said that she literally hates...
>he doesn't have a gf with TWO daughters
>There's a long list of compatible laptops.
>Which laptop should I get her?
don't worry I got u anon desu, you should get one from that list, you can't go wrong as long as you stick with that fucking list. you are welcome.
Buy her a small TV, mouse, and keyboard
But in all seriousness, get her something like this
Try to find something with a crappy amd or intel celeron processor, 2 gigs of ram, with windows preinstalled, and it will have a long battery life and be able to boot windows.
You might find this interesting OP
They seem like really good value for money. Might do EU shipping too.
>School requires pupils to own specific hardware
>Doesn't provide said hardware to students and expects parents to buy them
WTF is this? What are they going to do if some parents are in debt or on a tight budget due to unforeseen circumstances or poor choices? Penalise the student because they can't take the exam?
The national high school finals in Finland are migrating to a digital system during the next 5 or so years using their own shitty Linux live distro, so a lot of high schools here do the tests with that same system to prepare. It's absolute bullshit but I got a job at my old high school because they needed a tech guy to do all that stuff so not complaining.
