Gimmy best desktops u've ever seen
What is your favorite memory of the late fbubtu
I think mine is when he told us he could never watch Nichijou ever again because of me
I liked when he said cool things like "nice desktop" and when he posted Asukas
I hope he went peacefully into the night
w2c dope FF css?
I'll fix it soon. I really did like that one periwinkle/plum theme I made.
If I could, I'd torture you for information regarding this setup.
Seriously I need to know.
AMA me anything
>tfw slept from 9am to 4pm
Essentially everything. I need to know.
foobar just looks like that with classic theme, the rest is just using the layout editor options
It's in the screenfetch dawg but
Arch linux, not that it matters at all
Awesome window manager, you could do the same in Openbox + tint2/lemonbar
Themed shit myself, some of my configs are backed up here
Music player is ncmpcpp. Terminal emulator is URxvt. Browser is firefox + stylish.
Thank you my friend.
Openbox is much easier, it's floating and configured in very human readable text.
Awesome is done fully in LUA, dynamic and a lot harder to use. But it has a lot more functionality if you want it.
Gonna go with Awesome then.
Used i3 as my first GUI and people called me a fucking weirdo, don't wanna use i3 again since no minimize windows.
Awesome can have the title bar removed right?
And have minimize window set to a hotkey?
What about Wayland? Are Awesome and Openbox going to be ported or we will need to wait for something else similar?
Maybe from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wayland#Window_managers_and_desktop_shells
I'm flattered you would go through the effort of posting my desktop for me anon
>not using RemixOS
it's not that hard yall
I guess? I got rxvt riced as much as I want, installed i3 and configured the bindings how i like them, I have no idea what to do with the color themes for that and GTK.
I dont have a good looking browser installed either, is there any browser i can use that doesnt use that much ram and is pretty much headless? Im running on a raspberry pi right now.
you can go with luakit or something similar if you want lightweight browsing. but there's no addon support for it.
as for colors, just use one of the thousands of online color services that show you all about colors in design. Just pick one that looks pretty, and it'll show you colors that are similar in temperature range, complimentary, contrasted, and practically anything else.
and just use those to rice. Some sites even let you upload pictures, so you can just throw the wallpaper you want to use into it and get all kinds of matching colors out of it with virtually no work (aside from actually editing everything yourself)
i saw this desktop like a year ago or summat and since then ive wanted to install linux so i could make it look exactly like this.
im on my way there. but the terminal is giving me problems, and i cant find the gnome shell theme.
Tried again, not good enough, going to have to change how the raw is recorded and read on how to webm.
you can make 10 look way better than that
Thanks for all that man
guess who broke everything again and is reinstalling his operation system
I Don't Want To Talk About It
no really, i'm curious too
how exactly do you break an OS to the point of needing to reinstall?
May not be the best desktop, but it's MY desktop
How about some music to lighten the mood?
The only reply that I care about. U mah nigga too.
I'm overwhelmed by this amount of replies in such a short time. <3
What's with the guerrilla cuteposting tactics?
What are you guys doing at the moment? I'm trying to mix and master this stupid song thing I made. https://clyp.it/3jh5fa2d
Playing video games and listening to milo yianoppoulus
And drinking from a jar like a big hipster
i appreciate that man. i hate doing and re-doing compression, but at least now its loud enough
neptunia, who is an idiot
also, personification of the console wars
speaking of nepnep I hope this guy posts more
No fuck you. I'll post my work-in-progress rice project instead.
Youmu is NOT a boy she's a (very) cute girl
Everything is fixed now but it's too late to watch anime and I need to go to bed and it's fail
Help me if you can, please.
I would really like to have titlebars/borders hidden, but I would prefer not to use any of those long AHK tiling scripts.
Is there something that will just hide my bars/borders and maybe let me use the Windows key to drag/close?
enjoy your carbs
Quick, press F12, go to console, and paste this in:var t = document.getElementsByClassName("thread").id;
var p = localStorage["4chan-track-g-" + t.substring(1)];
var b = document.getElementsByClassName("bottomCtrl");
var lp = p.split(">>");
lp = lp[lp.length - 1];
lp = lp.substring(0, t.length - 1);
b = b.getElementsByTagName("input");
document.getElementById("p" + lp).getElementsByClassName("desktop").childNodes.checked = true;
I finally got around to installing Arch on my laptop. I'm looking forward to setting it up on my desktop as soon as I get a router.
So /g/, are you doing any programming tonight? I've been trying to learn Rust recently.
trust me, you don't want it to look like that. i've made better setups than that one
but to start, find minimal Visual Styles (AMAYC, Deshou), get rid of titlebars, hide the taskbar and you're basically done
the rest is just color configuration, browser CSS and system resource monitors on rainmeter
which setup are you actually using right now?
the monochromatic Undertale one. I'm gonna be switching it back to this though
I don't have anything to say but I want to post this
http:// pastebin  com/M6P9NiYe
hope that helps friend
Just didn't want to take any chances; I re-wrote that post like 4 times ahaha
Oh my God, please help me.
I posted on AHK forums for a script thanks to >>52396093, but no replies yet.
If you're using AHK, what script do you use?
How did you disable shadows and such?
The VSs you mentioned are really nice, do you know any for W8.1?
yeah its always a work in progress. i'm still spending immense effort trying to find good fonts and also make them render nicely
Just set your tabs to white and change text colour, and stop using bitmap fonts for everything.
Terminal inspired browsers never look good.
in case any one is looking for some ricing tips and tricks
this is the guide I used
the script is here youtube com/watch?v=IV-iNxQFDfQ for disabling shadows I just typed "shadows" into my start bar and you'll get a control panel named "Performance Options". i have no experience with W8, only 7 and 10, but this VS is compatible: bit ly/1PWGBJE
hope that helps
bitmap fonts are just easier to look at and they don't take up much space. they're a placeholder until I can find something better
I mean that they don't get that weird fuzzy glow behind them (anti-aliasing). that's what makes tweaking font renders so frustrating.
i'm not concerned that they're small, because I have functioning eyeballs
>go to work
>same thread still up
Hai boys, it's what is love (with the dark shadow desktop), I'm in Nippon at the moment and I just got back from the Tokyo National Museum and I'm feeling really inspired by Hokusai's prints and I've got this cool borderless new desktop design floating around in my head that I hope to merge with a cool Caribbean colour scheme.
Look forward to it and thanks for reading <3 !!
this, and does it even work properly? On my win7 for example? Does it replace explorer.exe or just run on top of it and bloat Windows even more? Does it conflict with video games or cause other such performance issues? Do I risk breaking my operating system with it?
You do. Your mind has infinite potential.
> does it even work properly?
More or less.
> run on top of it and bloat Windows even more?
7.5MB memory usage for me.
> Does it conflict with video games or cause other such performance issues?
Unless you fix it (which is not too hard), it does.
> Do I risk breaking my operating system with it?
Don't set as shell and you'll be fine.
I can dream up a 10\10 CSS and have no idea how to implement it. Actually, I dreamt up a 10\10 startpage but can't implement it either.
>Unless you fix it (which is not too hard), it does.
How exactly does it conflict with games then? And how does one go about 'fixing' it. Sorry for asking supposedly stupid questions but there's really not much information elsewhere to answer them.
Blackbox has a few inbuilt hacks to disable taskbar, to change desktop margins and such. The problem is that they break some (or all?) fullscreen 3D games, but if you disable the hacks, your desktop margins will be messed up after you finish playing. I use bug.n for window positioning so margins are not a problem because bug.n uses its own \ disregards Windows'.
Here's the important part of my blackbox.rc:
# - non-menu settings -
session.openFolderCommand: explorer.exe /e,"%1"
# - under Explorer (non-menu) -
Open it in an image viewer.
