No you can't, moron. A GPU is a graphics processing unit which is well hidden under the GRAPHICS CARD'S (yes, that' what it's called) cooling system.

When will the idiots who keep calling a graphics card "a GPU" just die off? Once they are about to, they'd preferably take their cousins who call a USB stick "a USB" along while they're at it.

it so happens that this unit preforms serious graphical calculations

therefore it is a Graphical Processing Unit

Even though logically, and by technical definition, a clip is no different than a magazine.

Go shopping for a brain rather than for graphics cards (not GPUs) next time.
>>
>>52382985
"graphics processing unit" is a specific term used to describe the graphics processor (and usually its package) itself
taking it too literally/generalizing it could lead to arguing that any unit that can process graphics is a "gpu", for example, the cpu, or even the entire computer

yes, the graphics card is a unit that processes graphics, in a general sense, but "gpu" is not used like this, never had

Wikipedia tries its best to account for the likes of you, explicitly stating

>Not to be confused with Graphics card.

at the very top of the

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_processing_unit

article (where you'll end up looking up "GPU", as also confirmed by the literal

>"GPU" redirects here.

statement.

If "GPU" and "graphics card" were valid synonyms, surely enough such a situation would be reflected accordingly in the article you end up at when looking up either of the terms. Instead, both are very explicit about it not being the case - in addition to the abovementioned remarks found at the very top of the "graphics processing unit", the "Video card" article explicitly lists a GPU as just one part of a graphics card:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_card#Parts

There appears to be hardly anything more to be said concerning these matters, anyone faced with the above and still remaining contrarian is more than likely not worth of wasting any more time on.

Not him but a clip and a magazine are not the same thing, though they do similar things, a clip holds rounds and a magazine feeds rounds. Yes a magazine can also hold rounds but its primary purpose is to feed a round into a chamber.

I get it, I do the English language with all of our slang is fucked. But saying that a clip and a magazine are the same because they do something related to rounds if ammo is like saying a Ford Fiesta is the same as a Koeniggsegg Agera R because they are both cars but one is practical and a tool, the other is insanity with a license plate.

>>
>>52385020
i'm a gun nut, and by all technical definition a magazine IS A CLIP by dictionary definition.

There is no legitimate reason to call it a magazine, literally the only reason we do so is because of the US Government.

By all technical declarations a clip is a clip until it's used to feed ammunition into a firearm, which is simply retarded.

The only time it's logically, a magazine is if its fixed, if its not you are shoving a clip holding ammunition into the receive of your firearm.

If you can cut your tender chicken with your fork does it suddenly get refereed to as a knife? no.

my main argument wasn't exactly that a gpu is a graphics card, but that its not wrong what so ever to refer to the entire card as a GPU, it's simply autistic to bitch about that.

Just like it's extremely autistic to shout "YOU MEAN MAGAZINE???" at the range to my grandfather who's seen combat and just wants to shoot my new gun.

As much as we bitch at our elders for referring to their desktop as the "CPU" isn't wrong either, that entire box is the unit in which all of her computation processing is done.

It will make some of your cringe but its true.

Yes, it IS wrong to do so. You resemble someone who literally says that it's not wrong to say that two plus two equals five.

Oh no! This is even worse than Doublemint Dave.

I recall the summer back in 2000. I had been purchasing parts for a computer but hadn't assembled it yet. Went to a party where I got hammered with my friends. (No, it wasn't to celebrate the computer parts.)

Party is over, me and three of them goes back to town where we get into a totally idiotic drunken brawl. Police gets the culprit, gives me a ride to the ER. They check me up and sends me home. On my way out I do a repeated dent of the combined mirror holder/paper towel wall case in one of the restrooms (the mirror was already gone). Security wonders what the fuck the noise is. I kinda apologizes and I guess that they are happy to see me leave. And despite I got adrenaline up to the gills, I can see that at least one more at the ER is worse off than me. (At least indirectly, because his friend is standing up and is concerned about him.) Yeah, so I try to cool it and goes home.

Is in bed by 03:00-04:00. Sleeps a few hours. Goes up at 9:00, raging. Eat a quick breakfast and assembles my computer. I am still raging so hard that I could tear the face of a chimp and I assemble the computer.

It did nothing wrong during the assembly, despite rage and being 24. Computer worked flawlessly for years. So how the fuck could a non-raging 33 y/o fail so hard?

Dedicated graphics card

The GPUs of the most powerful class typically interface with the motherboard by means of an expansion slot such as PCI Express (PCIe) or Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) and can usually be replaced or upgraded with relative ease, assuming the motherboard is capable of supporting the upgrade.
