M8, I have I5 2500k, if ill upgrade, Ill upgrade to something like your CPU.
Why do you have desire to spend money when there is no need, Intel costs money, shit should hold its value.
Another thing is that , basically ,progress of games has dramatically slowed down to almost stopped(if consoles are any indicator, last gen of consoles is almost same as this gen, with higher resolution and bigger textures, also, consoles can run 60fps, I dont know why they are doing that crap, probably some marketing bullshit, but whatever) and I really dont know why would you need stronger CPU if not for gaming(this CPU is "serious gamer OC grade gear" so you dont even have to deny that you dont play vidya),

yet if you really want precise moment when you are gonna cry about how hardware is extremely expensive and why the fuck do you need to upgrade this fucker already, is around 2-3 years max, then 4K(maybe even 8K) & VR will become mainstream norm, so dont worry , they will whip your wallet soon enough, lets say, this is calm before the storm, so enjoy it while it lasts.
>>
someday. don't forget that you'll also have to replace your motherboard
>>
>>52378874
>why do you have the desire to spend money when there is no need

Fucking this. Im still on my i7 870 @4.2ghz and a gtx 680 4gb.

If you feel the need to upgrade at least make it something you'll notice like an ssd.
>>
I've got an i5-3570K overclocked to 4GHz, and I think I'll be needing to upgrade the GPU (an Asus GTX 760) before I need to touch that.

Did consider de-lidding it because muh temps, but they're honestly not that bad. Tried fucking around with voltages, but got annoyed when it kept crashing and shit, so reverted to stock volts.

Not everybody is poor like you, anon. If you think that you wouldn't notice a CPU or GPU upgrade in your shitbox, that's your delusion talking.
>>
i7 3720QM here

my warranty ends at the end of the year

So it's sensible that I start looking for a replacement for when the time inevitably comes

Kaby Lake seems like an excellent place to start. Integrated H.265 and VP9 decode, USB 3.1, Thunderbolt 3, something something.
I can't remember the rest.
>>
I've got a 4770k and no reason to upgrade it.

Next thing I'll get is probably 16gb of RAM, but meh not a big deal at all having 8

> I don't need this thing
> Yes, I'd see an improvement, but I'm not at a stage where that improvement is significant
> Fuck it, I'll buy it anyway!

Personally, I wait until I can justify buying something. My laptop hinge shit itself recently, and I was looking at getting a better laptop, but I didn't want to spend a ton of cash, so I knuckled down and fixed mine. Would I have seen an improvement with a new laptop? For sure. Was the improvement worth the cost, considering I could fix my own for free? Hell no.
>>
>>52379109
funny thought that someone would give effort and pay money (in the tyrone vid case) just to make sure someone doesn't get more attention on their escape from real life like a desperate toddler.
>>
>>52379077
No one mentioned GPU(also his GPU is still really strong), but if you honestly think that being rich means to spend money frivolously then you either not rich, didn't buy hardware with your money(your parents did) or you are just plane criminal and you earn money really easy, as comes as goes.
>>
>Still using my i5-3570
>With a GTX780
>It works more than fine

Still going to build a new PC from scratch some time this year, when all the new hardware is out.

But CPU's seem to to be the least relevant part of your PC, as long as you buy something decent it'll last for years and years.

I've got my i5 3570K running at 4,5 GHz with 1,35 V and my temps are below 70°C during prime 95.

What cooler are you using? You should be able to get your CPU to 4,3 GHz with only a minimal increase in voltage.
>>
>>52379193
I don't think it was temperature related, I think I just got a dodgy chip that didn't handle overclocking very well. I think it's the Hyper 212 Evo X, but it does the trick. I'm happy with where it's at right now - anything higher and games start throwing a shitfit, even if the actual computer itself doesn't.

>>52379077
Are you a nigger who got rich by chance?

Just upgraded from an i7 870 to a i7 5820k. Huge upgrade anon.
>>

When will it be time to upgrade?
>>
>>52379620
I'm not denying that its a huge upgrade, but at the same time my computer still gives me 1080p 60fps so why upgrade?
>>
>>52379748
I understand that. The only reason I upgraded was because my system failed, so I figured it was time anyways. I think I would've stuck with it for 2 more years.
>>
>>52379620
I have a 3970x oc'd to 4.7 GHz and don't see why I should upgrade.

Upgrade anytime, just skip Skylake :^)

i5 3570k at 4.5ghz will stick with me for a year or two more.

Need a new GPU once Overwatch hits tho, 660ti didn't do exceptionally well with the beta

>>52376912
Seeing as how I just upgraded from an I5 650 to a 5820k a couple months back, you will be fine for a good long while. My GPU is next (760 FTW 4GB) and that's going Pascal unless the benches don't justify the cost over last year's 980Ti. Also just built a backup out of a 4570k/GTX 460 in case the new one goes down or needs a backup. The 650, you will be happy to hear, is still utilized in a home media server using my nearing ancient XFX 8600GT. Only real reason I upgraded was for some of the rendering and video encoding I do where the software can take advantage of all 6 glorious cores.

I have the i5 2500k and the only thing that makes me want to upgrade is the oculus rift requirements.

But That means I have to upgrade my mobo too, which also doesn't have enough USB 3 ports for oculus.

So. Eventually.
