Owner of that Seiko here.

It's the incorrect seconds hand. The lumed dot is supposed to be at the other end like a traditional Seiko diver hand. Hand is supposed to looking like a SKX173's.

A reply to >>52370087 from previous thread about flat Komandirskie casebacks;
You could, in theory, remove the winding rotor and the pin holding it and get enough space to put the flat Dirskie caseback. Now, the reason why Amfibia has such a 'deep' caseback is the waterproofing method used; the deeper you dive, the more the front side (plexi)-back side (caseback) sandwich presses against the movement, making it more and more waterproof. Opposed to that, the Komandirskie never was really waterproof.

I can almost see your pathetic overweight frame glowing in the dark, lit by your computer screen which is the only source of light in your room, giggling like a like girl as you once again type your mfw waiting for watch reply up and fill in the captcha. Or maybe you don't even fill in the captcha. Maybe you're such a disgusting NEET that you actually paid for a 4chan pass, so you just choose the picture. Oh, and we all know the picture. The "epic" happy Akari, isn't it? I imagine you little shit laughing so hard as you click it that you drop your Doritos on the floor, but it's ok, your mother will clean it up in the morning. Oh, that's right. Did I fail to mention? You live with your mother. You are a fat fucking fuckup, she's probably so sick of you already. So sick of having to do everything for you all goddamn day, every day, for a grown man who spends all his time on 4chan posting about waiting for his watch. Just imagine this. She had you, and then she thought you were gonna be a scientist or an astronaut or something grand, and then you became a NEET. A pathetic Akari posting NEET. She probably cries herself to sleep everyday thinking about how bad it is and how she wishes she could just disappear. She can't even try to talk with you because all you say is ">mfw waiting for my new watch in the mail" You've become a parody of your own self. And that's all you are. A sad little man laughing in the dark by himself as he prepares to indulge in the same old post that he's done a million times now. And that's all you'll ever be.

What the fuck did you just fucking type about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class at MIT, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids with Anonymous, and I have over 300 confirmed DDoSes. I am trained in online trolling and I’m the top hacker in the entire world. You are nothing to me but just another virus host. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on the Internet, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with typing that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we chat over IRC I am tracing your IP with my damn bare hands so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your computer. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can hack into your files in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in hacking, but I have access to the entire arsenal of every piece of malware ever created and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the world wide web, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking fingers. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit code all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

>>

>>

>>
>>52371519
Where? In an auction for a used one from japan? I'd also rather have the MAN ON THE MEEEEEEEUUUUUUUN than a reduced.

If you only count brand new prices, the moonwatch is 5600 milkbux, while the snowfrake is around 7000 milkbux. Used prices between them are almost the same ($2500USD give or take).
>>

Reduced is basically a 38mm speedmaster. Different movement though, and the subdial placement isn't as pretty as the 42mm speedy. It's an automatic, and if I'm not mistaken it only comes with a sapphire crystal. It's cheaper because demand for it is lower, basically.

I always hated that on the larger one, the reduced is way more readable in that sense that they are well separated.

Literally a really undervalued speedmaster if you get the reduced with hessalite (less than 1000$ in some cases), and its AUTOMATIC which means you dont have to wind like a pleb everyday... And let me inform you, that shit does get tedious. Just like shaving is a chore so is winding.

Ok I seemed to have found out after putting on some reading glasses, most stems I've worked with required to be pulled out before finding the lever, on this watch they need to be pushed inside revealing a tiny dot where circled on pic, and the 2nd moonphase stem just requires a tiny push after the first one since the mechanism of the first holds it down

I sort of want to buy this Fossil to be honest. But I'm not sure; I know I'm going to buy some non-digital quartz watch, though.

I love my mechanicals but sometimes it just feels euphoric to wear a worry free quartz, my current g-shocks and ironic gold casios aren't very neutral though so some normal looking one will it be.

Hype is justified imo since for a mechanical watch it is actually pretty cheap compared to swiss with a dial that puts most swiss watches in the $500 range to shame. The only thing swiss watches have over it is 28000bps but to me that isn't really important.

It should definitely be a 2609, it would just be nice if they had taken a photo of it. Looking at photos of other 2609s online based on the shit finishing it looks like it would be just barely a cut above a poo in loo HMT movement, but the feature list is actually kind of impressive. It has direct drive seconds, incabloc-type shock protection, an overcoiled hairpsring, and a screw balance which all seem like surprisingly high-end features and definitely better than the Vostok 2416 in the amphibias. I bet you could regulate it to be really accurate if you actually knew how to adjust all the little weights and stuff.

I have needed a wrist watch in two sections of my life; before i got my first mobile phone and in army.

Do people actually need to check the time so often that checking it on phone or other clocks is not enough or tedious? Or is it mostly for showing off? Not mocking anyone here as showing off is 99% of todays extroverted culture and a nice watch is a classy way to do it.
>>
>>52380121
To be honest with you a phone is the best way to tell time. Unless you are in a situation where you can't use a phone I.e. The army or in a meeting a phone is pretty good, it has a stop watch, calendar, world time

Watches are more then telling the time, they are about the craftmenship and history of the movements inside them, the innovative designs amd how they have progressed and for a lot of people they are jewellery. A watch is the only piece of jewellery a man can wesr besides a wedding ring

I like to wear watches that I find aesthetically pleasing or otherwise interesting.
But I would rather wear the shittiest digital than no watch at all. Checking time on your wrist is just infinitely more convenient than taking your phone out (which is why wrist watches were invented in the first place).
Most of the time, I don't *need* it. It's just comfort.
I also sometimes do first response and have to check a pulse, in which case I actually need a watch.

>>
>>52381749
Get an Orient Bambino instead.

>>52381753
So you want a chronograph with a sweeping seconds hand.
>>
>>52381706
For what that watch costs you'd be able to afford a Seiko 6139/6138 which are automatic chronographs from the 1970s, but buying a new mechanical chronograph will cost a lot more unless you want to risk buying something Chinese.
Why are you so bothered by the ticking seconds anyway? It's barely noticeable since it's on a sub dial, or does the chrono hand tick? Though be very cautious when buying a PRC200, there's a lot of fakes about. You might want to look at the Seiko SSB line, mecaquartz is preferable when you've got a relatively tight budget.
>>
>>52380752
Its quarz right?
>>
>>52381794
>>52381772
Well besides the 6138/6139, other options can be obviously the SSB mechaquartz, Poljot Shturmaskie (or 3133 based chrono), Citizen 8110, or a reduced jap speedmaster if you're small wristed.
>>
>>52381772
what makes the bambino better in your opinion?
>>
>>52381885
Better overall design.

The two with the textured dials have really day windows, which kinda ruined the whole dress-watch aesthetic. As far as the 3rd one goes, the gold colored plating will scratch and flake off really fast and the hands look meh.

Id rather either get a ER24005W Bambino or the newer ER2400MW.
>>
>>52381794

The Chrono hand ticks. This kills the watch.
>>
>>52382002

so you would not get the gold coloured orient ones too or is it just a problem with the seikos?
>>
>>52382037
I wouldn't get them on the account i dislike gold colored watches (That aren't actual gold).

Does anyone think Martian watches are good? It's basically an analog watch with a small led screen and some bluetooth capabilities.

A year ago a colleague who worked for the company tried to sell me one of these for around $175. It looked okay in the picture, but when I saw it in person the material looked shitty so I declined. I figure if I was going to spend that kind of money on an analog watch I would rather save more money on one with better material.

Last December I saw it being sold for only around $30 and am wondering what happened? Can anyone vouch for this watch?

The Citizen chronos are the fucking bomb, they're the ones to get. All the classic Seiko chronographs had serious long-term durability issue because of the weird spring-clutch design, which essentially removed a component from the movement and gradually fucked shit up over time if the chronograph wasn't engaged and running. Which means you pretty much need the chrono running all the time. The 8110 never really had that issue.

>should i be worried?
Probably not. If you're paranoid and it hasn't been serviced in many years, you could do that. Probably won't make it quieter though.
>>
>>52385984
A movement ticks at, basically, whatever volume it's going to tick at. A watch that is made to be waterproof but has had that degraded may also have some form of sound proofing degraded, but that's not a big issue.

The main concern is most watches are underserviced. A movement, if not service, will eventually grind itself away.

like the other poster said ebay is your best bet, also unless your Indian Seiko is in good 'running' condition it could easily fetch 10-20 depending on the condition though and model, there have been occasions where they get divers so unless it's just the usual Seiko 5 it'll be 10-20 USD the Orient Ray depending on the condition and your urgency to let it go can go between 70-100

I need a watch for semi-business/official things, something you'd wear with a (casual) business outfit.
I'm thinking about getting this Orient:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00JQYT1OM/ref=s9_wish_gw_d37_g241_i2?ie=UTF8&colid=A26YQTO2X1K5&coliid=IX3V1O9BRK49H&pf_rd_m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&pf_rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=154YYAV8NQAH2DABT3TB&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=585296387&pf_rd_i=desktop
Do you think it's any good?
>>
>>52386934
Is that speedy fake? I'm not asking to be an asshole I'm just curious because I'm generally shit at spotting fakes but that subdial spacing seems wrong unless it's an automatic model but it also doesn't seem to be one of those.

>>
>>52387722
Poor ratio between bracelet and case size, faux diamonds look tacky. Mother of pearl can be nice on smaller watches but it almost looks like that one is rather large - which would futher make the bracelet look like a string holding the case. The hands are not very well suited for this specific watch.

If it's around 28-32mm, available without the faux diamonds and very cheap I'd consider it for my gf.

Unless you have extremely cute wrists, Casio LTP-1274D-1A is an option. Available both at Walmart as well as Ebay / Amazon / Creationwatches. Get a springbar tool and a decent leather strap and you're still under $40.

If you have more money, the Junghans Max Bill ladies exists. As well as the cutest versions of the JLC Reverso.

Everyone likes it besides the guy who bought a Damasko. The several people who post here who own one obviously like it.
Sinn 656 was one of the watches that made me interested in them, though I'm not likely to buy one soon.
Personally I find almost all their chronographs poor looking. If I was looking to buy mid-range watches, 556 and U200 would be very high on the list.

I really like their watches, especially the chronograph that i posted. Even though am not the biggest fan of chronographs, i do enjoy the look so Sinn's chronograph especially when you can see the movement through the clear back. I would like Breitling, but i feel that their dials are too chaotic for my liking (too much shit, i understand they're for pilots but i feel that it makes the watch look worse).

Listen Moe, Larry and Curly, maybe if The Three Neckbeards would leave the basement once in a while you'd get more familiar with the concept of outside, and wearing rugged watches for actual work. It's fucking too cold outside for actual work, hiking or other physical activities so no need to wear a G-Shock.

Not everyone buys a G-Shock because /wt/ is like desktop thread/buttlestation/headphone general 2.0 to them and they have to take part in every circlejerk.

my experiences w/ casio neg displays (the ones with dark background):

on digi only models they're quite good. they're basically more easily readable than normal when you're in very bright light conditions, but slightly harder to read in dark situations (for which you have the backlight)

on ana-digi models though, I've seen them as pig disgusting. they're so far back behind the crystal and so on that they're sometimes nearly unreadable.
there might be models where it does work out, though.

so that watch should be fine

So many of these watches are just cluttered messes. If you have a K-Mart or SEARS nearby, check the website. They have Casio Digital Basics for $9 as part of an inventory purge because they're horrible at business.

I have a couple Orient open hearts. They're pretty good. I'd recommend the ones released back in feb last year. WV0411DB, WV0401DB, WV0391DB. The bracelet is pretty comfortable and solid for a watch of that price. That being said, it isn't the normal lug design, so you're not going to be able to throw it on just any strap if that's your thing.
