sup /g/, it's payday.
is there any reason to get an e-reader just for books when i can get a $40 smart phone that does the same thing with a better display?
>with a better display
I doubt that.

The e-reader will be better for your eyes, last longer, have better battery life, look better, bigger and you won't look like a poor fag with a 40$ phone.

Smartphones don't have a better display /for reading/. Period.
So yeah, you made a thread asking a stupid question when you could've used google and learn about this in less than one minute. Retard.
E-readers are made with e-ink.

So thousand of smartphone users with a lot of screen on time should have been long blinded by now?
Is this like every other monitor-related scare?

go see an ereader in person and you'll see the difference

There is no better display than e-ink. If there was a smart phone with e-ink display they could sell it for a premium because it's a better display.
as someone who's done reading on both a fairly nice looking smartphone and an e-reader, i can say that the e-reader definitely looks nicer. It's not nearly as harsh in the dark environments I tend to read in, and is also a lot more visible in bright environments like the porch. Also, what the fuck kind of phone are you carrying that's the size of a god damn e-reader?

I did see one. Don't know what it was called or where I saw it on YouTube.
It had a e-ink screen on the back.
The displays on e-readers are specifically designed for text and they excel at text.
Smartphones are little lightbulbs.

try reading on both kids of screen for longer duration and you'll see how e-ink is god-send.
