Have you read it, /g/?
nice ereader faggot
is this book a meme????
>>52339299
>meme
Stop using that word
>>52339299
no it's legitimately a good book
it's really freaking old, older than C, so like computer science stuff it's 90% hard math and 10% computers.
If you're a lispfag or CSfag its a good read? For most of todays code monkies who don't care about all of the math and theory its useless and will just confuse you
Yes. Near the start of the picture language part is one of my favorite footnotes in any book I've read but you'd probably want to be reading on a physical book because of how it's laid out.
it's shit
>>52339271
yup, it's a solid book with lots of wisdom.
even if you don't use lisp a lot of the techniques in it are good to know
>>52340379
if you are brain dead and can't figure out what a data structure is implicitly........
it takes a special kinda autism for this
>>52340453
if all you got out of the book was "data structures" then I'm afraid you have a touch of the 'tism yourself
>>52340064
I really want someone to vouch for what this guy is saying. I don't want to waste time on some fucking meme book.
>>52339271
reading it right now
>>52340567
if you just wanna dip into it check out https://mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/full-text/book/book-Z-H-4.html#%_toc_start
pick a section that looks interesting
>>52340567
you could have read it 10x over already in the time you've spent shitposting
>>52340567
Yes, reading a book you didn't like is worst thing that will ever happen to you. Fucking millenials.
not but i tell everyone on /g/ to read it
>>52340064
Computer science isn't about computers. It's about algorithms.
>>52339271
I'd read it if it was in a real language like D
does anyone still have that worm or whatever picture that always went along with this meme in pre 2010 /g/?
>>52340784
This guy? Image searching "SICP snake" shows some.
meme programmers don't like this book.
> why ponder language concepts when I could be pushing more node code to my sjwhub?
>>52341049
yeah, found it!
man, that was quite huge back in the old /g/ days.
>tfw shitposting back than was actually more entertaining for both sides
>>52340722
It's about thinking about problem solving in an imperative manner (so yes, algorithms are examined), which is what differentiates it from mathematics
>>52341694
forgot the snek.
>>52339271
No, but I have read some of Knuth's books.
I miss /prague/
>>52341757
you and me both
Took a friend of mine over a year to complete the book including solving the problems.
It's also heavily maths based but I think I've seen some sicp in c/python around
>>52341745
かわいいケモノぐるみ、お兄さん
>>52341745
>is that actually you or is this some sort of meme?
>>52339299
everything in life is a meme anon
>>52341892
dawkins knew this
>>52339299
meme is a meme word, stop using it
>>52340567
Stop using that word to describe generic things, it makes you look like an idiot
>>52341882
Can't it be both?
>>52340064
>sicp
>hard math
what? it's high school math at most
It's also a very good book teaching you techniques that are generally useful instead of teaching you to create webpages or stupid shit like that which you can learn later over a weekend.
>>52342368
you look like a complete pervert.
>>52342491
I think anon is cute :3
>>52339271
If I hadn't, I wouldn't call myself a programmer, would I?
>>52343330
many people call themselves programmers without ever reading it
>>52340064
How can one code without understanding college level math?
You can't have 3d figures without calculus
>>52343617
SICP isn't college level math
