Open Source Vehicle
this is a real thing
still better than a ford
>he doesn't refine his own lubricants
>he doesn't forge his own metals after mining them in the mountains and refining them
>he doesn't dig in the Lithium mines to make batteries
>he doesn't extrude his own copper wire and hand wind them to make a motor
Might as well buy a Chevy, you're stuck with proprietary shit if you use off the shelf parts anyway.
I can get why this project exist and honestly it's cool
but old cars (these without elaborate computers which cause people to die because broken closed software lol) shouldn't be considered closed source.
I mean you can buy an old car, run it as you wish and for whatever purpose (freedom 0)
dissasemble it to the very small pieces and introduce your own modifications (freedom 1)
You can buy as many cars of the same model as it's physically possible, and give them or sell them to anyone (freedom 2)
You can sell modified version of the car and document your modifications and distribute the documentation so anyone wishing can make improvements to your modification and use them on their own vehicle (freedom 3).
There you go, four essential software freedoms applied to an old car, so yeah, old cars are open source.
Open source vehicle.
That vehicle is using propriety parts and doesn't respect your freedoms.
Pic related is a true freedom respecting vehicle.
Better? No. Cheaper, sure.
Teslas are open source as well. Anyone can use their patents even commercially and is available to anyone...
This tractor on the other hand is the only opensource tractor I know.
