What is your Everyday laptop (laptop that you take with you everywhere), and what OS does it run
Dell latitude e5450
runs fine except the aeroplane mode light is on after booting until the first time I put it to sleep. No idea why but I'm not up for spending time doing OS work when I've got other stuff I'd rather do
it's really comfy, especially after I installed an SSD
2009 HP dv4 running deepin alpha.
There's more battery than laptop, I love it.
my DD laptop is -
>this isn't /o/
a thinkpad T60 tri booting windows XP, 7, and linux mint.
>$25 used from ebay
>$10 chinese battery
>128 GB SSD with massive shared partition to make this work
>ssd cost more than the laptop
>came with SXGA+ panel, ati card, and bt
>$4 4:3 thrift store case
>$8 expresscard for usb 3.0
>no real critical client data on it or passwords
would be pissed if it was stolen but if so I would only be out about $80
you can most certainly DD a thinkpad
It's heavy but I'm strong. Edited in the proper GHz.
MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) running latest OSX. It was supplied to me by my work (software engineer). I'm usually a Linux girl but once you fix some of the weird window management parts OSX more or less feels like home. I jettisoned most of my personal computing devices apart from my phone, but I used to have a Thinkpad collection running several different Linux distros. I was quite fond of my T60 running Gentoo, but I need more modern hardware than that if I want to be able to do anything fun on it. I'm going to be looking for a new laptop pretty soon and I haven't made up my mind between a Mac and something else. I'm not even sure what the good laptop brands are nowadays. Any ideas, /g/?
Ubuntu 15.10 xfce
It's a bit heavy, but I don't carry a ton of other stuff, so it's no biggie.
Holy shit, that's the exact same pose I do to suck my dick
No, I'm not too poor to make use of the Windows 7 Pro x64 license key that's printed on a sticker on the bottom of my laptop.
I just choose not to because I don't want to run Windows if I can avoid it.
Acer Aspire timelineX 4830-tg
i3 with 6GB RAM intel gpu
I can tell this things going to snap at any second but it was the most bang/buck and the smallest size I could get off of newegg at the time
Because that's the current year, get it?
You aren't welcome anywhere. You're deluded enough to mistake common courtesy and pity for support. That's the survival tactic your kind employs to get through daily life.
And like all mirages it eventually fades, as evidenced by your suicide rate.
HP Elitebook 8460p
OS X 10.10.5
best laptop I've ever owned
You grew up on the internet
While everybody was getting on in life, you were watching anime and playing video games
Until it got to the point where you decided the only path to happiness was to become the cute anime girl
But the third dimension is a harsh mistress indeed
And now we're laughing
Was it worth it?
I don't take a laptop with me everyday because i'm not a complete autiust. I take an iPad mini because it's all you need to get the job done, doesn't weigh a ton, has long battery life, looks cool
Yeah, I don't really pass all that well yet. I've only been on hormones for a little while. I get ma'amed and such sometimes when I go out but I can tell it's usually people are just being polite. Fortunately I don't go out that much anyway; I'm happy staying inside dicking around on the Internet.
Well, sure, of course everyone thinks I'm a freak. But I live in a decently progressive area where most people are kind enough not to give me any trouble.
Also, idk who that picture is, but it's not me. I'm not posting pics for you sick fucks lol
How does it feel knowing that you are literally a meme and we make fun of anime faggots like you who failed so hard at life they now want to become a gril like their anime waifus?
>I don't really pass all that well yet.
and you never will
even assuming the drugs worked some kind of miracle on your physique, they'd do nothing to your male socialization
you'd still be parading around in some garish abomination of a getup lifted right out of your favorite animu, complimented by some totally-not-sexist affected 'feminine' way of carrying yourself
you will never be seen as anything more than a clown in womanface
Haha I wouldn't have expected some one else on /g/ to be using one of these! I have the same one and also the same hinge problem lel. If you ever decide to run Ubuntu just know that the soundbar won't work. Everything else is great in Ubuntu
build quality is fine, the lid assembly isn't as rock solid as my t400, but that's to be expected, it's only 2/3 the size.
I'm using the small 3 cell battery it came with, it doesn't stick out and it lasts about 3.5 hours with linux
I'm not really into anime. I watched Evangelion when I was a kid, that's kind of it? Oh and I did see some JJBA at one point I guess.
I know lots of people think I failed at life or whatever, but I do pretty well for myself. I have a well-paying job that's fun and engaging, I'm married to a hot lesbian who stays inside all day with me, and my family is very supportive. I really don't care if some lonely neckbeards on 4chan think I'm pathetic.
As far as the way I dress, I personally prefer just jeans and a tshirt, but that tends to make it harder to pass outside, so I don't really have a choice.
Anyway, back to laptop discussion.
I've heard of these but remember the build quality being mediocre. I don't really care if it comes with Linux or not, I'll just install it myself. I'd rather just have something solid for a decent price.
>even a kissless virgin has seen naked women in the porn they watch
evidently not. even if I posted a vagina some people here are so fucking prejudiced they would still claim it's a tranny
remember that it's you who brought up your gender and life story
why would you do that unprompted unless you really were trying to convince people that you're not a complete fuckup?
I use a tricked out latitude E6400 from 2010
T9600 core 2 duo 2.80GHz
4GB DDR2 800mhz
Nvidia Quadro NVS 160M
It's getting old, but I still love the little guy, it gets close to 4 hrs of battery still.
the soundbar doesn't work anyway lol it's just a chunk of plastic to make it look signature
The entire dolby set is just stereo width phase modulation to get 3D space around the laptop. It only has 2 speakers, right under the front
I'd love to try installing linux for once in my life but I use this thing to make music so I kind of need the mainstream software
I have two different laptops that depend on where I'm going, how I'm getting there, and what I'm taking
>Dell Latitude XT2
Swapped the HDD with an mSATA SSD and added two USB 3.0 ports via ExpressCard, going to pick up a slice battery at some point.
>Lenovo IdeaPad S10
I've got a 3G radio and mPCIe to PCIe adapter installed
Both laptops are getting NFC cards under the palmrests so when I tap my phone to my laptop the phone turns on BlueTooth and creates a PAN
You know there is a medium between overweight and underweight, right?
This is what you are proposing the average american should look like at a weight of under 100 lbs.
Asus T100, Windows 8.1. I've used Xubuntu on it for a while and now I'm back to windows because Wi-Fi was unstable, trackpad really limited, and I needed some windows only apps like Proteus or LabVIEW.
t450s full options
because im not a poorfag
i dualboot Wangblows 10 (need it sometimes) and Loonaks Mint ( because it takes the least time to install and has no Amazon mallware like UBanttoo)
Most people i.e. American adults are overweight ergo they are not healthy. If they were skinny, at least they would stop being an eyesore for all parties involved including themselves. I agree with you that there's a happy medium, but most people, girls included, only gain weight over time. 100 is a good weight to hover around for as long as possible if you're short. My mother was 5'4" and 100 for the longest time in her fifties before she lost the time to exercise.
X220T, but I actually don't take it out of the house that much. Running Arch. Very comfy and has way less compatibility issues than my T420. If only it were as powerful and maybe a bit higher resolution..
Use all the features of the site. Read description, look at all gallery pics, if info is missing, message seller. For good prices don't avoid auctions and keep an eye out for 'for parts' builds in surprisingly good condition.
A shitty lenovo G50
Fedora unholy mess
It is random photo from internet
Here is mine
I've been trying to decide between this and the 13, mainly going between wanting portability and power but I can't make up my mind. The 15 has a lot of posts on Reddit with complaints which scares me a little whereas the 13 has very few. Anyone else have an XPS 15 (9050)?
>Taking Stallman seriously
He talks about something in >Unity< as if it's something that exists in Ubuntu as a whole. It is not.
The spyware that video is about is >Unity<'s search function, something that does not exist in versions of Ubuntu with any other DE. Xubuntu, for instance, "spies" on you just as much as Trisquel or whatever other freetard distro you might choose, because it doesn't come with >Unity<'s spyware.
I agree that Unity is a piece of shit and that the Amazon bullshit shouldn't be a thing, but please educate yourself. There is only one version of Ubuntu that includes this spyware, and that is the base version with the Unity DE. And should you for whatever reason choose to install this, the spyware is disabled through the flip of a switch in the DE's settings.
They are a company that wants to make money.
One of the ways they make money is by selling your search data in Unity to Amazon.
Is it ethical to collect this data by default ? Maybe not.
But can you avoid this ? Most definitely, and you don't have to go through 50 workarounds and scripts for it.
You can even use their minimal netinstaller and get the same result as Debian's netinstaller with more up-to-date packages and easier PPA support.
If you listen to Stallman, very very few companies can be considered "ethical".
The guy doesn't even like Gentoo of all things, because Gentoo isn't fucking autistic about nonfree software.
Not so much specifically Xubuntu as just any version of Ubuntu that isn't the base version with Unity, really.
The main reason being that Mint has some incredibly autistic changes to the stuff in its repos that can end up causing trouble especially if you install stuff from outside the official repos.
Because of this, *ubuntu is a better choice for a "just werks" distro as Canonical is generally less autistic about what they put in their official repos.
I'm assuming that what you like about Mint is actually the Cinnamon DE. You can get this on any other distro as well, you just have to install it and log out to switch, simple stuff.
Dell xps 13 3rd gen i5
I cant be fucked using linux when i can just putty into my linux file server and run cli from that.
Use it to watch anime as my office is too fucking hot to be in there with 2 desktops running and me trying to play some games
Hp pavillon dv5 1015eg
Runs at 80°C on idle. :DDD
Go buy some copper shims yah dingus and slap it under the CPU cooler so that it doesn't turn int hellfire.
I have a dv9000 with the Geforce Hellfire meme inside and mine runs under 40 on load with the copper shims.
Lenovo Essential 50-80 with a core i5 and single-channel 8GB DDR3 of RAM
RAM expandable up to 16GB
HDD replaced with an SSD for faster boots (inb4 meme drive, poorfags fuck off I'll spend my money how I like)
Runs Ubuntu Server with the Cinnamon desktop.
Runs both Win10 and Ubuntu.
I really need to get rid of this soon. Dell decided to stop hardware and driver support too soon and want me to buy one of their new shitty laptops.
I was eyeing out a 13"mbp or mba since I don't know what pc to trust nowadays.
>If they were skinny, at least they would stop being an eyesore for all parties involved including themselves.
I see a few very underweight people around on my campus and they look like they just came out of Auschwitz. That's a lot more disturbing to see than someone who's very overweight.
Generally when I think of underweight people I associate with
things like that. when i think of obese people I think
>maybe jolly fat people (e.g. Santa Claus or John Goodman or something)
Both are somewhat upsetting, but the former is more upsetting.
My everyday laptop is a mix.
Originally I was using a Toshiba a660
>Nehalem Clarksfield 740QM i7
>8 gigs of ram max
>2 SSD's one in a ODD bay 250, 160 GB respectively
>1336x766 16 inch screen
but the screen anoys me some times so I regularly swap back to my HP Pavillion DV9000.
>Centrino dual core
>3 gigs of ram max (4 installed)
>Exact same 2 ssd's only they have their own bays (mfw PATA R/W speeds on ssd's are kekworthy)
>nvidia geforce go 8600m gs
>Currently trying to get a better used HP elitebook with dedicated graphics card for CAD
Such is life.
Currently using an Acer C730 Chromebook with dualboot crouton debian jessie. I wish I could go all out and remove ChromeOS but unfortunately I'd need to be able to write a new BIOS. Still good though, since I got it for free from my Uni.
>I don't know what pc to trust nowadays.
If gaymen, whatever.
If not gaymen or just light gaymen, Thinkpad, Elitebook, or other equivalent business laptop that is entirely Intel and optionally Nvidia based.
Basically if you make sure that your laptop has Intel hardware for >>EVERYTHING<< except obviously RAM and HDD and such, you can expect to have driver support until the thing dies from a hardware failure.
Windows and eOS. Thinking about switching to Debian because it looks sexy as fuck. Also thinking about getting a T420 because I need a higher resolution to run some of the Adobe Suite.
It doesn't, desu.
It might leave a bit of sticky residue, but you can just clean that right off.
A Satellite p775. If the display was 1080p it would be perfect.
Lenovo U430 touch
Kinda regret getting a touchscreen laptop since the screen's reflective as fuck, but then again I do actually make use of the function often enough.
I only buy business laptops. You are clearly still from consumer laptop land, where things break. If it isn't bios locked, and there are no bios messages (like "fan failure" etc) then it won't go wrong. this is why we keep shitting up the board with business laptop threads.
the only exception are the consumables, things that can go bad over time - battery and hard drive. Which is why you buy it without and provide your own which lets you pick what you want. Memory can go bad but you can test this in a few hours with memtest and I've never even received a laptop with bad memory. it would be a $10 item anyway.
none, pls help me find
>price: under £400 (UK supplier)
>cpu: intel i3?, anything reliable..
>usage: Firefox, Word, DVD
>optional: 'business'/'professional' build quality, SSD, HDMI output
> Samsung NP530
> Windows 10 (entertainment/work) / Linux (work)
is this for real?
a fat trap browsing /g/ and having a mac?
Shitty Intel Celeron Processor, and 4GB of RAM. Dual booting Win10 and Xuuntu. It won't play any modern games. It suits my needs I guess, for web browsing, word processing, light programming, movies. Its also almost 3 year old. Planning to use it until it craps out.
