i doubt that will happen desu, but the recent hype (last few years) will probably die down a bit.

I personally feel that since maybe the iPhone 4, Apple haven't really made anything particularly groundbreaking, yet their value has just gone up and up and up.
Pretty much every change since the 4 has been sorta "meh". The 4 brought a whole new smartphone market. It bought quite a few new things to the game (retina display, incredible GPU for the time, decent camera etc) which changed the entire phone market. Remember how pretty much all smartphones had those awful low DPI screens before?

Other than making it faster/thinner than before, the only real "innovations" Apple have brought are Siri, Touch ID, Force Touch and good quality slowmo video.

Similarly, the mac has been kinda lacking recently.

I do like Apple as a company but i never understood why they gained so much ground over the last 3-4 years.

What? What is happening. I don't have any idea to what you're alluding to. Please explain what you mean. I want to discuss with you what you mean. What you have to say matters, so please state to which you refer so excitedly. I can only see the picture, titled "160108101800-apple-january-2016-780x439.png" but I don't know if that has anything to do with your thread. Please let me know if you change your mind and wish to talk about the subject matter you so recently wished to discuss. Thanks, thank you, thanks so much, thank you very much.

APPLE WHY?
>>
>>52321644
>I do like Apple as a company but i never understood why they gained so much ground over the last 3-4 years.
Because other companies are just copying what Apple is doing reaffirming confidence.
Now that Apple is actually falling behind and other companies are innovating, like Microsoft's Surface 3+, Apple is going to face a tough future unless they do something about it, which I doubt they can do anymore.
>>
>>52322013
i think we've hit one of those points where it's going to be a short while before the next big thing.

Things like the retina display changed a lot - to the point where other manufacturers started putting 1080p screens in phones barely larger than iPhones.

Siri was quite big, and spawned a boom in virtual assistants. Sure, they existed before but were useless. Now we have Google Voice (better than ever) and Cortana (let me bing that for you).
Siri was a big step forward in voice recognition etc, but not really that useful. Nobody wants to use it unless they need to.

Force Touch is a nice feature, a logical step forward imo. it's a bit like having a right-click on a phone. It's nothing groundbreaking and worth dropping your current phone for, but there's no reason for it not to exist.

that's the thing though. even though iPhones have bought some nice features, nothing recently has been particularly groundbreaking, and I don't think anyone else has good ideas either. Samsung is just innovating for innovations sake (screen with curved egde) but not actually solving a problem.

Who knows, maybe the market will stagnate for a few years while everyone just makes faster processors and better cameras. Maybe someone will come up with a new feature that we didn't realise we wanted/needed, because we've never had it better.

Who knows. Competition is a good thing.

>only person in my family not using shitty Apple products
>tfw time to buy AAPL again

It's 2013 all over again.

If you back out their $150-200 billion of cash, they are selling at such low P/E levels that Apple could never grow again and their stock price would still get forced up by the billions of free cash flow for buybacks.
>>
>>52322195

And all of it goes poof if investors pull out.

Good bye cash flow, hello downsizing to maintain operations.

Na, Apple are storing most of their cash off shore in case of shit like this.

They just need some excuse to bring it onto American soil without having to pay tax on it and it'll keep them going.

Here, I fixed that for you for actual accuracy.

Not that it isn't misleading in its own way. It would basically be over for the company if they got down to like $20 a share.
>>
>>52322945
ITT: people who have literally no idea how the stocks work. It's a secondary market.

Apple cannot get anywhere near $20/share unless there is a literal nuclear apocalypse with the epicenter at Cupertino. That share price values the whole company at $110 billion. Apple has $200 billion in cash and investments alone, and the business produces $70 billion of free cash flow a year. $20/share would be like getting a bond that immediately gives you back 90 billion free dollars, pays 63% annual interest, and on top of that has the intrinsic value of the operating business, brand, patents, etc.
>>
>>52323060
>unless there is a literal nuclear apocalypse with the epicenter at Cupertino

Some of you guys are alright, don't go to cupertino tomorrow.

The fears reflect weakening demand for the iphone worldwide, and the fact the Apple Watch was a non-starter. If Apple loses it's prestige image and becomes less desirable, there isn't much else for them to do.

it's been like that since the 1st iphone, and they even have to make dedicated plugs for the 1st iphone as it had a recessed 3.5mm jack, and for years you could only get iphone headsets as manufacturers are fucking retarded and didn't bother making ones compatible with other phones.

>>
>>52336688
that's quite the question. Apple seems to have swallowed that market completely so there doesn't seem to be anyone even close to their level when it comes to feeding pseudo tech faggots, teenagers, and soccer moms their shiny toys. HTC seems to sometimes glow with the Apple aesthetic but they seem years behind. If Sony played their cards right they could have been where Apple is, but they can't into marketing and making products attract the borderline mentally retarded. They've pulled out of consumer hardware anyway. Nexus and Google line products are also candidates since they have an 'aesthetic' to them
It's really hard to say
