When did you finally give up on this piece of shit?
Last month. Vivaldi masterrace.
I've already ported my dozen addons and am stopping support for the ff versions as soon as all that API change shit and other inane bullshit comes around.
still using this but:
>have to use mpv to play anything on youtube
>crashes when browsing "infinite" scrolling websites - facebook (ye i know) or 4chan (of that im even more embarrased) all pages mode
>flash is an old piece of shit with just security upgrades on lincucks
>more and more stupid shit added that should be just extensions (hello, pocket, etc)
i would just use midori but its webm player is really bad
(insert sad face here)
Will stick with ESR 38.x from now on, once ESR 45.x drops it'll be game over for future updates for me. Guess I'll just have to contend with being "insecure" I suppose when they stop issuing patches and updates, oh well.
It's a damned shame, really.
It was broken as fuck for me and pissing me off but I reinstalled and got my latest gpu drivers and it worked like a charm.
If you know of any good browsers with a fuck ton of customizability, please let me know. I'm ready to ditch Firefox for anything better but haven't found anything myself.
Icecat because it's GNU and is literally firefox - bullshit
you can just copy your profile folder and the migration is done
I tried pale moon and half the stuff wouldn't work as I liked it and it was just horrible alltogether with their own addons.
Never tried waterfox and don't know much about it, isn't it just a 64-bit firefox?
webms with an odd width don't play correctly in chrome. This has been a known bug for years now.
>>52314757-metadata title="original source filename"
please make use of this flag the next time you encode a webm so I can just hover the title field to find the source
in fact, everyone should do this, let's work together to improve the quality of this website!
have an example webm that does this
It evoked certain reactions that is for sure
I've been running waterfox for the last 3+ years and never had an issue. I made it the default browser on all of the computers in my company as well.
>they're just worse working versions of Firefox
what was worse in icecat? I don't even notice a difference. I just copied my old firefox profile, removed the newtab override addon because it's now obsolete, and everything is exactly the same now usability wise
I would do this but I don't know how to make the batch file I'm using exclude the file path from the title. I don't want to manually paste in the file name for every single file.
The batch file I'm using looks like this plus some additional options that aren't relevant here:ffmpeg.exe -i "%1" -c:v libvpx -crf 18 -b:v 4M -metadata title="%1" "%1.webm"
This works but the issue I'm having is that it passes the entire file path to the title attribute.
use the thing mentioned here >>52315964 to get the Name as in the first answer, then doffmpeg.exe -i "%1" -c:v libvpx -crf 18 -b:v 4M -metadata title="%Name" "%1.webm"
should work I guess
Fuck yes that works. I wish I could understand what was going on with that loop at the top though.
Working Prototype:Set filename=%1
For %%A in ("%filename%") do (
ffmpeg.exe -i "%1" -c:v libvpx -crf 18 -b:v 4M -metadata title="%Name%" "%1.webm"
I don't know if I need all that shit up at the top but for now this works
Okay I simplified it even further after figuring out what those parameters in the variable name doffmpeg.exe -i "%1" -c:v libvpx -crf 18 -b:v 4M -metadata title="%~nx1" "%1.webm"
Seems to be functionally equivalent at least for my usage.
The answer here helped out tremendously:
when they donated $15,000
lemme rephrase this
FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
15 < FIFTEEN
FIFTEEN HUNDRED TIMES TEN
FIFTEEN THOUSAND FUCKING DOLLARS
to remove the word "slave" in their code
even if you are the most cucked leftist out, how can you not see how much of their users money they're wasting on stupid shit? can you imagine how much they could have done with $15,000, minus making one tiny minority who are obsessive feel good?
dwb and chromium 4 lyfe
Shortly after Chrome came out. I had been using Firefox for around a year, decided to try Google's new browser, then around Opera 10 or 11 I found out Opera existed and switched to that
Around the end of 2008. I got tired of the HTML5 incompatibilies (it just never can catch up to standards) as a web developer and the shitty multithreaded performance, chrome is botnet though so I switched to qutebrowser (webkit) never looked back.
Chrome and all derivatives are dumbed down overly simplistic memory hogs that can't even do extensions right.
Firefox is the superior option by a long shot. I'm not going to use garbage because just because you read too much neo-reactionary nonsense.
You gotta be one sucker ass white boy to think that they needed 15.000$ to remove the word "slave" in github, the SJW's are basically making up excuses to pull out foundation money for personal purposes while claiming it's needed to improve the CoC on the website, github and furryfox getting c,ucked like a ofo
When Chrome decides to actually work on Windows 10 and not lag like shit.
No really, every device that's running Win10 right now for me makes chrome an utter mess to load pages for no reason whatsoever, but when I downgrade to Win7 everything is smooth sailing
>using buzzwords like sjw
Think you're the sucker.
Chrome lags on everything. It literally uses 80% of your ram to run like 10 tabs because of it's "multi-process" placebo.
Shitty ass Chrome can freeze + lock up my 16GB ram system if I leave it open with enough tabs and play League or something.
How customizable is Chromium? It probably doesn't use Chrome's add-on market and I know about how Chrome blocks third party add-ons. I'm downloading all these movies for freeleech so I cant download it ATM and see for myself.
Maybe 6 months ago?
A little while before I used it for something really quickly and was impressed at how much faster it was than I remember it (I stopped using it around the time chrome came out).
6 months ago I decided to move away from chrome, and tried firefox as my default and it was pretty awful. It probably didn't help that it was around the time flash took a giant shit (Well, like, for the last time).
It works fine on windows 10, either your os build is old or your chrome is not the latest version
Have 8gb ram and can definitely open at least 30 tabs and still have about 2gb ram free, don't get what issues you people have with chrome's ram usage
Not him but one thing that browser must have is an instant launch and as far as I know only chrome, ie and edge does this on windows. Tested Vivaldi, Firefox and they're horrible at launching speed not to mention that I use ssd
It is different. From the raw perspective of customization Chrome is a fucking fisherprice toy compared to Firefox.
>using buzzwords like cuck
I wasn't referring to ability of customization, but the bloat thats getting in Firefox. Sure, Firefox used to be best, but it's all downhill now I am afraid.
>getting triggered by buzzwords
Fuck off faggot
When they started to include that Reader icon. But i was on my way when they started removing people from Mozilla for expressing themselves.
The trend is such : We can make decisions, but you cannot have an opinion. And the web should be as free as we make it.
And i cant use Chrome so i'm stuck with IE until Opera gets their shit together. I would rather have my ass raped by a company that tells me they are raping me, rather than a bunch of snakes selling nonsense.
Well for the time being it does all I ask of a browser and has a lot of add-ons I've been using for years. I'm wary of the upcoming changes that'll probably fuck some of them up, though.
No, you have it backwards. Chrome has the bloat WITHOUT the customization. Firefox is actually lighter than Chrome even though it does more.
>defending your usage of neckbeard buzzwords
Back to your containment board, /pol/ack.
I stopped updating Firefox when I found out they were getting rid of Tab Groups. I have 100+ tabs of stuff open that I've been too lazy to sort through, but I don't want to lose them, so I will never update again.
I can't get rid of them. They are mostly artist pages on Danbooru. For every artist page I finish looking through, I open at least one new topic page, and from there I get more artists and more topics and so on and so on.
I have way too much time invested into customizing my FF with add-ons and extensions to ever have any interest in switching to something else.
I would shoot myself if I didn't have Tab Tree and the like.
>Waterfox is a high performance browser based on the Mozilla platform. Made specifically for 64-Bit systems, Waterfox has one thing in mind: speed.
I might have cared or tried it out if I didn't already have a 64bit version of FF on my Windows machine.
when tab groups were removed.
It's stupid but I was working on a few different projects and didn't want a million irrelevant tabs to scroll through so the grouping was perfect.
Now there is no reason to stick with FirefCucks because Chromium literally does everything better at this point
>Chromium uses 20gb memory for 2 tabs
>despite this it has no features
>has little to customization
>has gimped add-ons
>using neckbeardy buzzwords like "cuck"
>he fell for the Memaldi meme
what he >>52320880 said unless you can programm and change the code to your liking and do it every once in a while
as a user you can;t change the scroll step/speed, you can;t permanently hide the download bar and the sign in button because the devs took the existing flags away
tl;dr with every new release it is more and more locked and you can change less and less
1st strike was webm's not playing properly
2nd strike was pictures of black kids in Africa on the homepage
3rd strike was them begging for money
Why the fuck are you begging for money if you're spending it on social outreach programs in niggerland or whatever? Fix your fucking browser.
Reminds me of when GNOME almost crashed and burned due to SJW managing the finances
>The GNOME Foundation had a temporary lack of reserves due to processing the funds for the Outreach Program for Women (OPW).
Their official site is much less lulzier than some of the forum discussions with people who were directly involved
I gave in to the botnet.
>it's needed to improve the CoC on the website
