Gold Seiko 5 Edition
>capitalist bourgeois filth
I bet it's made in China. You could have gotten one of these and it would be more American.
America is part of Greater China, gwai lo!
It came in way sooner than I expected
The movement is super pretty. I wonder if that swan neck regulator actually does anything.
Also, the crown action is smooth
Excellent so far. The case is very well built. The accuracy is pretty good so far, but I can't get the movement to hack by back winding; so I'll have to see about that. Screwed lugs are cool
Without shipping? $120. Its more expensive though because it has a sapphire crystal.
Movement looks pretty nice and sandwich dials are pretty cool but that watch is absolutely disgusting and enormous. Funny how the movement looks better decorated than some actual Panerais.
Its not as big as I thought it would be. Doesn't look too bad on my bitch wrists. I love how heavy it is though
I'm still waiting on like 6 more and another watch. Fucking chink shipping
Sapphire with no AR coating. It looks a lot better in person compared to the shitty camera on my xperia Z ultra
The buckle on this strap is hilariously built
For the strangest of reasons I've always put my watch on my right wrist instead of my left (which is how a watch should be worn so the crown can be wound more easily). Both my parents were left handed but i turned out right handed and have always done things like a left handed person such as using a knife and fork as a left handed person should even though my right hand is dominant since i write and do everything else with it. I've always found it easier to put my watch on with my left hand compared to my right. I want to start wearing it correctly (on the left) but i struggle to put it on and usually find it uncomfortable. Any advice on how to get out of this strange habit? Maybe if i force myself to always wear the watch on the left wrist I'll get use to it but i honestly can't say for sure.
Goat Diver Style, dressy or diveish depending on strap and bracelet.
Did I get memed? 47mm on my 6.3" wrist is gonna look gud :^)
no srsly I got the 47mm but my wrist is 60mm wide and the watch is 57mm l2l
Shit? Its the goat dial and not the bland submariner one with dots.
Also the sailcloth is goat band for it.
I do this too, my advice to you is don't bother.
I once went a whole week trying to wear my watch on the "correct" wrist and all I managed to do is bang it everywhere because i was so used to having my watch on the other wrist.
It's really difficult to unlearn that. I also wear my belt the wrong way.
>(which is how a watch should be worn so the crown can be wound more easily).
nah, avoid using the crown while wearing the watch
puts unnecessary pressure on the poor crown and while not necessarily likely, it might break if you did that all the time
only really a problem with chronographs where you do want to use the pushers
That's really only true for normies. However a number of watchfags will agree that something like a grand seiko is on par with, or better, than a given rolex or whatever other watch in the same price bracket.
its a bit hard to say to be fair
who do you even want to impress? sure, the average joe will only know rolex, but if you're sort of above that, something else might be more interesting
lets say that you're not a middle class dude saving up for a watch but rather a person for whom it is totally normal/expected to have a luxury watch
do you seriously believe that in such social circles, its all rolex? that something else can't be more interesing
Also looking to add a traditional timepiece here pretty soon for special occasions. Looking to spend less than €2,000.
fuck that strap suits that sarb so well
a lot of old man love this kind of gold though...I've seen two old man wearing a completely gold watch, not sure if they are real gold or just the color. Kinda guessing they are real since those old people tend to be rich
So glad one of my watches came in today
I actually prefer them over full gold in some cases. I mostly like it on Rolex though, paricularly Datejusts, but any similar-ish dressy sporty design works.
Two-tone blue-faced submariner also works better than a full gold sub.
are you sure you're not just hating on panerai in general and letting your hatred affect how you perceive the designs?
I just can't see any other explanations for this overly strong madness about the designs; they're not that bad on those basic ones. some look ridiculous with those shitty date magnifiers and blah blah
I'm fine with homages but Panerai and anything that tries to look like a Panerai is absolutely fucking disgusting.
Again, I'm with you on hating Panerai but the basic 1950 design is really nice.
yeah and I believe we meant these specific blue dial watches...which are two tone
I had the same fear for pic related but in the week I've had the strap I haven't snagged a single hair and it's mad comfy.
Found my dad's old timex he wore in the 70s, or maybe 80s I don't know. He said it's mechanical, maybe at some point I'll get it serviced, at the least I'll just put it in a box when I buy one. Said it was cheap but I guess that goes without saying. Shitty tablet camera trying to get it so the dial is actually visible.
damn you are lucky! Wish I can inherit a watch...my grandfather use to have a rolex, but he lost it while working. Pic related is the only watches he have left
I don't, the strap is beat to hell and was kind of falling apart some taking it off the watch, ton of green shit melted to it. The actual watch looks ok, no numbers on it or anything though. I have never gotten a watch serviced though and have no clue what it would cost.
nigger do you gotta post 20 times in these threads?!?!?!?! WE NEED NEW MATERIAL TBQH FAMAS
Thanks for contributing, faggot.
It's a decent watch and they're good pictures, I don't have an issue with him being a faggot all over the place.
Well i finally woke up after a 13 hour workday.
Welp, 30 minutes to get myself in gear and take a shit and i have another 5 hours~.
Hell, i'm one of the regular shitposters in /wt/ for more then a year and i'm okay with smartwatches.
At least until they start the "hurr durr Smartwatches are superior to regular watches". Otherwise let them stay, except iwatches of course.
I keep going back and forth on that.
I like that it's original, but I'd also like it crack/scratch free.
I think I'll have watchmakeranon do that when he fixes the chrono clutch.
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I NEED NEW WATCH PICTURES
I wear pic related as my daily, and the Wakmann if I know I'm going to be able to be careful with it all day.
I 'borrowed' one from a retailer with a good returns policy. Controlling music / the Uber app / alerts were decently useful, but the basic models are so fucking ugly it's embarrassing.
If they had something like the old B/W Steel model's styling with a color screen and thinner I'd think about it.
its horrible when those customers return the package in a horrible condition. wish I can deny those retards, but the manager will always approve it. Glad tomorrow will be my last day
I'm really liking this thing. Its big but very wieldy and the dial is super legible.
Currently testing the accuracy and power reserve. Its been running for about 12 hours now and is still accurate to the minute (didn't bother syncing seconds yet). Hopefully good signs so far
Yup, mostly, they tape them up. Some just throw everything in and close the package. In the only one who care enough to put it close to the original as possible, even the ones that they will return it to the vendors.
>Approximate Case Diameter: 33mm
>Approximate Case Thickness: 11mm
would this work on small mens wrist? it's a women watch.
Eh.. that's pretty small. That size would be fine for a dress watch but on a diver it's going to look a bit anaemic.
For example the SKX013 is 38mm vs the more regular 42
Yeah, that's only 1mm less diameter than a Rolex airking. Generally around 31 has been considered "boys size" for young or small-wristed men. Women's watches are generally under 30mm
Needs more minute sweeps (a seiko hi-beat would be nice).
Do it when you're not lazy then. It only takes a minute.
I couldn't leave the bezel in a random position either unless I was specifically timing something.
Also, I wish I had May's collection. Especially that JLC memovox.
>dat perfect length hour hand
Why is JLC so based every year of every century?
I've got a similar one, some old rich guy croaked and gave it to my gramps who gave it to me.
But, I can't tell if its a fake or not. The JL logo is placed instead of the index for 9 o'clock, automatic is written below the 6 o'clock index and the hands are sqaure, not pointy like that.
I just ordered a GW-M5610-1ER it should be here tomorrow. I plan on wearing it for work so my SKX doesn't get banged about too much.
So true. Too bad the bezel of my piece of shit orient ray doesn't work anymore. Couldn't move it from the 12 o'clock even if I wanted too
A great option if you work in construction
Every time I see a Breitling the overall dogshit design and wing logo makes me think it's an Invicta until I read the name on the dial. People actually pay thousands for this kind of garbage?
Nice reflections on your shitty homage to a shitty brand, faggot. A fucking mirror is less reflexive than that piece of shit.
If you mean the status of being caught by a pleb catcher brand and looked down upon condescendingly by Rolex owners, then yes, your expensive mall watch confers status :^)
Reminder that an otherwise classy looking old HMT is still better than a 14 year-old tier brand new TAG. Literally no one but you see the logo anyway (unless you purposefully shove it in their face like some sperg), and literally no one cares anyway.
>they are just quartz right?
No, they're vintage luxury watches from a time when quartz was brand new and crushing the mechanical competition. The fact that they're less than $200 now just shows the ridiculous stigma plebs put on quartz, the finishing and overall quality of them are outstanding.
what do you guys think about this tissot t-complication squelette?
mmmm so sexy
I really want MGSV Seiko watch but this is the closest I can get in my pebble.
Also who pebble here? 15 life without apps and Bluetooth, 7 days otherwise.
non which do you prefer, the previous one or this one?
What does /g/ think of Tokyoflash? Them seem to make some pretty neat looking watches.
Take your pick.
Credor probably also makes watches with small seconds.
There should be a variant of the K35 Komandirskie with a seconds hand and dial at 10 o'clock.
It's automatic and without date, and since it's 2415 movement you also get handwinding.
Some are cheap and functional.
Anyone here got an opinion of the Avenger II Chrono? Thinking about picking one up for an all purpose watch.
Fresh new meme for you friend
Breitling is shit that looks like shit. Have you considered Fortis or Sinn? They make kinda similar aerospace-themed chronos.
Pic not mine.
As much as i started the meme ( or restarted it), it felt like it died off rather quickly when compared to the Penis Quartzs.
Looks nice but I kinda like the bulky look of the breitling. Do you just not like cause of personal preference? If so that's cool everyone has their own tastes. Thanks for your thoughts though I'll take a look.
You can't kill an idea
>tfw shitty phone camera
Yep. I ordered the wrong size.
Didn't know it was a solid link.
Though i like mine on a lot of straps, right now on a spare black perlon.
Probably going to get another leather nato, since that strap belongs to the SKX007 now.
Lume is quite good.
just bought an skx007k2. Its shipping from japan tho, so itll take a while to get here :\
but the snzg13 is doing its job for now. I switch it out with a maratac SR-1 when im feelin frisky
Looks nice, but i really like the Delphin that one anon was posting the last couple of weeks. Very very similar, but it looks a little better for some odd reason.
I also got one of the Cinturini nato straps from italy for testing, i'm expecting quite a bit out of them.
Im that guy. I really like the maratac. I bought mine like two years ago, so the sr2 and sr3 didnt exist at the time.
I really like the change they made to the second had, but i dont like the new crown they have on them. To each their own
They make watches that look like shit with basic movements and charge out the ass for them. If you want to waste money on them fine, but expect to be made fun of by those who know anything about watches.
I'll have to keep an eye on that, maybe get another diver and wait to pick up an SR3 if they go on sale.
I do like the look and wouldn't mind wearing it for the look alone, but I don't know if I would pay full price now thst I see the WR.
I mean I could get an Orient or seiko that beats that for a fraction of the sticker price
Massdrop frequently has maratacs on their site for group buys (along with other neat watches). You can get a semi discount through them
here have an invite family
how do people wear a 33?
i have shitty small wrists at almost 19 cm and i wear a 50 one and it only looks big when i hold my arm up cause its thick,if i let it hang it looks small and its smaller than my wrist lenght by noticeable amount.
Well the citizen you mentioned is meant to be a matching ladies watch for the regular men's size for one, second unless your're Schwarzenegger a 50mm watch is going to look fucking stupid always.
mb in a month or so i'll get a seiko 5 or something like that, kinda new to this but i am just saying that if 33 cm looks big on you than you should fucking suicide.
The only thing i hate about this watch is that its something like a little over a cm thick. and square sized.
Literally a Grand Seiko, and with some of the finest quartz movements that have ever been made and which are more high tech than the vast majority of the ones being made today 40 years later. And they can be had for a couple hundred dollars and you think that's too high?
That watch on the right is really nice
Can you still get watches like that? I just had a google and it looks like they maybe don't make ones like that anymore (at least, with a rubber strap, but I guess I could get a metal bracelet one and swap on a rubber strap)
3 years ago i bought this shitwad. Sunday, Im going out to pick up my Audemars Piguet. Worked my way up in the automotive industry and now I had room to buy it.
Inb4 you buy something tasteless, like some rapper-teir offshore, instead of a 15202.
Oh yeah you're right. Guess I need to save up.
Best looking watch I've seen in ages t.b.h.
Any good, sub-€500, 38-39mm automatic watches? I already have a Seiko SARB033
The only Omega that isn't a tragic, overpriced pleb catcher marketing brand died when it fell into the hands of the Swatch Group instead of Seiko.
It would be interesting to see where Omega would be now if they had been acquired by Seiko.
If that had happen people would call them dogshit for not being pure swiss, wven if their quality and value remained high. Not that most swiss watches are close to completely swiss
The Seamaster would probably be a tool watch diver.
old diver designs are just so good
good thing I can have one of those designs for cheap enough (vostok)
I can't make out whether their watches are decent for the money or ridiculously overpriced dogshit they can get away with because it's weird shit no one else makes. They always look kind of cheap in videos, but people never say anything bad about them. Their breathalyzer watch looks neat.
Yeah, my Ministry case has kind of a 70's look even though the case design is from much later.
Not him but they haven't kept their value because muh quartz is shit meme combined with >japshit. The 4 I have are excellent watches, easily my favorites of my collection with how well they're finished.
They are really very nice and they haven't retained their value because watch collectors only care about things that are mechanical and from recognizable well known Swiss brands.
So I remember some people here getting this recently. Anyone regretted it or was it really a solid buy?
There are still Jap sellers on Ebay selling them, I don't think they're fakes, but usually how fast does a limited edition of only 3000 sell out?
I'm not sure, I was at Bic Camera in Nagoya last week and they had both models, said nothing about a limited edition, just "new release"
Prices I think were 32,000 for the silver and 36,000 for the PVD one
Is that even a real one, doesn't look at all the same in the lugs
>post yfw Casio enters the outdoors smartwatch market with a dual layer LCD
You just have to do it like the rest of us did, wait for a nice one to get put up for sale. The vintage game requires patience, you have to learn to deal with it. I have over 20 followed searches on ebay for watches, just check every day and maybe you'll find something else cool.
I got mine from ebay, just be patient I guess.
That looks like mine, it's just beaten to shit.
Strange, I heard it was 3000 only and Jewtube reviewers like the Urban Gentile have one with a something/3000 on the caseback.
Skip the entire first half of the video where he rambles on about a movie everyone has already seen and knows everything about.
It's possible nobody cares here; salarymen only want watches that look exactly the same as other salarymen's watches. Next time I'm down there if it's still in stock I'll ask to see it more closely.
3000 isn't really a particularly small number of watches of this kind really. Especially JDM only (yes there may be a lot of japs but its not like everyone is a watchfag + a fan of alien, it looks weird and isn't exactly cheap enough to buy unless you want it in particular)
its limited in the "they won't make more" sense, not in the "these will be on sale for 15 minutes and after that you won't find one ever". there are indeed samples in ebay for sale
Well it's certainly not a Queen Quartz
Because everyone wants muh Swiss and muh mechanical now and I guess grammar of design styling isn't cool anymore. I like all those sharp edged 70s Seikos and similar looking stuff like the Rolex Oysterquartz and Patek Nautilus and stuff.
I highly recommend. After a lot of research and auction watching.
There are fakes, conversions, originals with new parts...I could go on. Depends what you're looking for.
Most of these issues are with Spaceviews, other 214s are much easier to buy. There are even speciallly made third party batteries made for them, but that's a debate in itself.
Mine keeps great time, but be ready to spend a lot on a service eventually, even if you buy a working one, the chances that it stops is pretty high. It's an old watch, intricately made.
Parts are rare and the few people who know how to fix them are pricey and probably no where near you.
Just make sure you know what you're getting into. I love mine, it's my favorite watch in my whole collection.
Should I off spent $50 more and got one without a damaged dial? Only time will tell
How, polishing it? You'll ruin all the sharp edges probably. I paid like $200 but I guess I probably overpaid. I would wait until something better comes up, there's lots of those watches around.
Yes, I have done it before and I can do sharp edges due to tools I have, I have no worries about my hands, the only parts is the cross hatched case part which is impossible (but can be "descratched")
Yes, joining the penis squad. Probably will flip it and sell it for way more if I don't fall in love with it irl.
Yeah I'll post it when I'm done, gonna take a couple of weeks though.
that looks nice :^)
I was watching that earlier, tfw /g/ buys watches I conemplate
Sorry anon but I'll post it here for sale first after I'm done restoring it and IF I don't want to keep it. Highly doubt that since I need an respectable dress watch in my collection
Yeah, it was an easey choice, there is just so much more complication in its execution compared to the other ones, the batons, the dial etc.
They always go for a high price on eBay auctions. Although not a stunning, the other king Quartz or even just standard vintage seikos offer great value for money. Here are some of my old mans old seikos he bought when he was a kid of about my age
Nice to know it will go up a lot in value.
Looks neat though, always like gold watches but I got that autism so couldn't wear one unless full gold and I prefer bracelets so it would be crazily expensive....
Hamilton guy reporting in! It still runs perfect.
Also i wear my watches on my right wrist too. I get asked why i wear it on my right wrist a decent amount but i just say it's more comfortable compared to my left wrist. Either way no one really gives a shit which wrist, it's the watch people give more of a shit about.
Nope and i seriously hope my phone isn't this retarded. Second time lucky.
Good luck I used to restore Seikos and sell for 30% profit after all parts etc that was a good price you got it for but you'll only profit probably 10% if you do plan to resell which isn't bad considering the price
How else will people know it's your watch if you don't even put your scent on it, retard.
Yeah, paper dial would be a safe bet for not losing any money
It's quite small and looks vintage so you can get away with the gold quite easily. Took it too a jeweller to get the circuit replace because it fucked up, he polished it without asking and too too much of the gold plating off
Screenshot your phone pictures. They upload with the right orientation for me.
Not sure if my last post worked, I don't see it after refreshing a few times
Lol thanks for the advice, you'd assume that the phone would do this shit right first time.
Usually cell phones store the rotation information in the exif data instead of however that normally gets stored. When you upload a photo to any 4chan board besides /p/ that exif data gets stripped because moot got tired of dumbass kids uploading photos containing their personal information and GPS data and stuff, so the data for how to rotate the photo right side up also gets stripped.
Ah i see, thanks for letting me know, at least i know how to get the correct rotation on it for next time i upload a photo.
Maybe yall see me around with my Hamilton again but in the next couple of months am hoping to unbox a Seiko Alpinist for you all.
