Upgrade the old gaming computer. Put a better processor/gpu/more ram/ssd in it and spend the rest in monitors. 1000$ less spent, much better solution than both. If you need a laptop buy anything under 400$ with a 15" display, specs dont really matter anymore

Also a 750m with 384 Kepler cores fucking sucks against a 970, which is better than the 2800 Kepler cores 780ti. 600$ laptops ship with i7s and 850m which are 2x better than the 750m
