Both have their advantages. Both are lightweight, minimal systems. If you spend your time customizing source, Gentoo is more friendly. If you would prefer binaries in most cases, Arch.

I use both, and gentoo sucks on slower computers, e.g. a laptop. Arch is almost a binary-based gentoo with systemd.

How is Debian less of a "binary-based Gentoo"?

Gentoo is best because of the Gentoo User Repository, or GUR. It has any fucking piece of software you'd ever need.

debian does everything for you during setup, and there isn't the AUR
