Who knows. If you check Amazon and Newegg's user reviews, you can actually see a pattern of bad batches from people who bought Seagate Barracudas between Spring of 2013 to Fall of 2014. Summer of 2015 also seems to have its fair share of bad batches.

Just make sure your data is encrypted so you can return it without worries. Seagate warranty policy is one of the best and easiest to use.

I have a bunch of old Seagate drives still ticking. The only hard disk I've ever had outright fail was a Toshiba. I don't think it really matters.

I've been rocking 1tb seagate barracudas for 4 years with no failures. I've only killed one hdd before and it was a super old 160gb WD.

I want to get a 2 or 3TB hdd for a home NSM (Mostly shits and giggles), what good companies exist for drives like that? I would like to avoid anything for enterprise-level servers because I like money, but could be willing to spring for one.

I mean it isn't hitachi or WD, but you couldve done worse. I've had two barracuda's, one dropped on me in 3 years, other has been going strong for 5 years.
